i agree that the amount of age of ultron hate has increased a lot over the years. when it was released, most people were like "it's not as good as the first one but oh well, it's still fun." now a lot of people are like "THIS MOVIE IS GARBAGE."

also, some people were saying thor: ragnarok is "guardians of the galaxy with thor" but the movie really fails to live up to the guardians movies as far as the music goes.

sure, immigrant song is awesome but that's really the only thing that stands out music-wise. probably would have enjoyed the movie a lot more if they'd used some more great licensed music!

Like they're good tunes and all but as far as enhancing the viewing experience? Eh. Rip the soundtrack out of both movies and I'm noticing it a lot more in Winter Soldier.

i notice it a lot in the guardians movies too. for example, the opening credits sequence in the first one just wouldn't be the same without that awesome feel good song (and the callback to it in endgame is one of the funniest scenes in the entire MCU).

btw, i will always love guardians 1 for introducing me to come and get your love. before i saw it, the only redbone song i knew was we were all wounded at wounded knee, which... kinda sucks >_> had this movie not included come and get your love, i might have never discovered it, as i certainly had no desire to check out more redbone songs!

anyway, yeah, winter soldier's music adds a lot to the movie too. but i think the guardians movies should also be in this conversation.

if you're just talking about original music, i can see that.

if you're including all music, both guardians movies easily have the best soundtracks, though.

I'm also surprised at how many people have such little MCU representation in their top 5 superhero movies.

i think the thing for me is that i tend to get super into character studies - that's why i love stuff like batman begins, logan, x-men: first class. and i think the MCU is kinda lacking in that department. like, whatever you may think of thor: ragnarok, i think we can all agree that it's nothing but pure entertainment (nor is it trying to be anything else). it's not a movie about the nuances of thor's character.

now, iron man has amazing character development but the thing with that is that it develops over the course of the first three MCU phases. it's not confined to a single movie.

yeah, funny how fox has more truly amazing movies than the MCU but there's also nothing in the MCU as terrible as wolverine 1. the fox movies are just all over the place!

yeah, my top 5 would be something like (in no order):

batman begins
x-men: days of future past
logan
deadpool
guardians of the galaxy

and i might switch GotG for the dark knight or x-men: first class, depending on my mood. i love the MCU but to me, the movies are mostly "consistently good." interesting how the x-men series is much better when it comes to putting out REALLY outstanding films imo.

yeah, to be positive for a change, this is a good top 5 and i'm glad ragnarok finally went out.

ragnarok is just "whatever" to me and even though i was making fun of GotG2 earlier, i actually like the movie. i don't think it's great but i'll take it over ragnarok any day.

she does to me. she hams it up so much, i found it impossible to take her seriously.

and that's not even my problem - like, it's thor ragnarok. this isn't the kind of movie that needs a super serious villain. i just found her overacting to be super annoying.
