One of my favourite Indian cookery writers is Madhur Jaffrey, and she has a wonderful recipe for a chickpea curry.

You can use tinned chickpeas and although the list of ingredients looks a bit intimidating it's really not - just various spices. I'd use ghee rather than that weird oil. :D

Yes there are people breaking lockdown as there are in many countries. As someone who does actually live in the UK I can confidently state the real reason for the increased cases is down to the government handling of restrictions over Christmas. I'll also add that our death rate and positive test numbers are now higher than they were duing the first peak however the current restrictions in place are LESS restrictive. That doesn't make sense to me. We're in a worse place and the restrictions are lighter! How does that make sense!

This is the real reason. We have an incompetent government.
*They gave millions to private companies to develop a track and trace system that was supposed to be world-beating and has been quietly dropped.
*They encouraged people to go out and eat and drink when the virus was no where near contained.
*They still have not put in place travel restrictions -people can fly into the uk and not be checked for the virus.
*Oh and they relaxed restrictions over Christmas despite being told this was a very bad idea.
*In December they threatened to take schools to court if they dared to close a week early before Christmas to give time for families to shield before meeting other people in the holidays.
*in the new year the prime minister insisted that schools were safe and so kids went back to school for ONE DAY, before they changed the advice and closed schools again. Although in fact many kids are still going to school.
*70% of parents who ask to be furloughed to take care of kids at home have been refused by their employers so people are having to find child care and keep working.

The death penalty is barbaric. Also, for a lame duck president that's not been re-elected to enact the death penalty is particularly heinous given that the incoming president, Biden, is against it.

I knew someone who is very intelligent, a doctor, and who voted Republican and voted for Trump despite everything that was obviously wrong about him as a potential president. Sadly, he fell for the conspiracy stuff, despite my attempts to counter the false info he believed. This is someone who had travelled, read books, knew people of many different beliefs and was anti-gun. But pro-Trump.

That war ended in 1945 so anyone alive then would be older than 75 now. To have any meaningful memory of those times they would have to be 85 or over: ie, age 10 when the war ended. And to argue that they *saw WWII happen* is a bit of a stretch.
