To identify who is the most qualified they also do an oral test where they measure your military bearing, physical appearance (there's usually a uniform inspection aspect) and knowledge of the command and current events and history and regulations. I am particularly torn on this one, since I haven't done anything stellar for this and it's probably the only time in my career I will ever be nominated for something like this. I'd rather have a command that would take a few minutes to listen to me vent about how miserable I am than have a command that puts me up for this just because I'm doing the bare minimum -_- Oh that's right, it makes a whole lot of sense...I think lol? What's confusing is that generally the requirements for such are associated with promotions or a recertification.
