Internal clock was cool, especially as a young'n.

Daily variance was also cool, "I am the younger and less expensive of the XXX brothers" is still a top tier meme introduction.

Rebattling trainers and the phone system was ambitious, having it be the only reliable way to get evolutionary stones and swarm pokemon was dumb. Youngster Joey memes survived two decades though.

It gave us IV's, but it also gave us "Pokemon sexism" with every female pokemon being a strictly worse version of their male counterparts statwise.

Mahogany and Pryce were super whack. Mahogany and the endgame being so poorly scaled really hurts the games replayability, even in the remakes.

Kanto sucked. Like someone took the old Kanto and exposed it to radiation, then gave it a bill of clean health and pretended everything was fine.

Legendaries are a wash with gen 1, the trio was significantly more involved in the story, but the cover legendaries don't have anything going on as cool as Mewtwo and the Cinnabar lab.

Starters sucked. Decent-ish design wise, terrible stat-wise, but this is before pokemon really considered the competitive implications of new designs so I'm not going to hold it against them too much.

There being multiple ways to go from Johto to Kanto was cool, even if Kanto did suck. Made things feel connected, but still gave the perception that you were traveling to another region.

Gen 2 is probably tied with gen 6 as my least favorite. I'd play the gen 4 remakes over R/S/E but that's more of a statement about how much improvement the engine received and the numerous quality of life improvements.

B/W and B/W2 are still the most "complete" pokemon games(And the best for randomizers, so many pivoting options.)

Y'know, where every Tim Burton movie had the same casting of Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, etc, and the same general underlying vibe about them.

Supergiant doing the same thing with Darren Korb, Logan Cunningham, Ashley Barrett, where every game they release has this unmistakable "Supergiant polish" on them, there's at least one standout musical number and gameplay that generally doesn't get in the way of whatever they're trying to accomplish.

It's just kinda cool when a studio has a "signature feel" to the games they produce. Even old Bioware, with their hamfisted storytelling at times and their "nuanced morality systems" was still an enjoyable experience because every Bioware game could be identified as a Bioware game within 1-2 hours of playing it, just through recognition of their habits. It's comforting for my lizard brain I guess, I dunno.

It bugs me that this is used as a shield from valid criticism, even if it's true for a decent segment of the population.

There's so many more factors that led to Trump's 2016 win. His opponent basically ran her campaign into the ground with a mixture of perceived entitlement and pretentiousness, the choice not to campaign in several swing states closer towards the election also rubbed people the wrong way. There was the marginalizing of rural communities, spurring turnout, and several huge momentum swinging events leading up to the election.

Personally, I hate how he normalized EO's and quantitative easing(Which Trump further expanded on in both cases.) As well as contributed to our surveillance "imbalance" by basically exiling Snowden. It was also the start of the presidency becoming celebrity for the worsening of the nation again(celebrity presidents have existed before, but it's not healthy in general.) Cult of personalities are bad for leaders in charge, regardless of party affiliation.

There's plenty of valid criticism for Obama outside of, "white man insecure." And when you continue to peddle this as the exclusive narrative, it tends to produce more of the very demographic you're trying to limit.

Basically, you're paying for the ability to possibly unlock a color scheme you like. No more customized combinations. You might see several players per play session sharing your color loadout.

Halo 4 was my last halo(super disappointing) and I was considering getting back in(I put a ton of time into reach. Had inclement weather and shit.) During infinite, but this is honestly a deal breaker.

343 and Game freak should co-develop something together. I want to see how much "game" they feel like people actually deserve before paying extra.

Set pieces from the movie with forced narration?

A trailer should build hype for a movie without revealing plot points. The C3 line being in the trailer is pretty awful, the showing of different settings is alright. Surprisingly, the pacing of the trailer is only slightly worse than the pacing of the actual movie.

I don't know, at best this feels generic. Like a DC superhero movie trailer.

Honestly, I'm back here for the first time in 6 years and nothing has changed. Even this topic from you could have been made by you 6 years ago and I wouldn't be shocked.

You got some reasonable CE posters like Treewojima, but everyone else slips in and out of caricatures of the person they're trying to be.

And to contextualize this, you're not a bad poster, but CE as a whole is like a sitcom that only has 5-6 seasons and people watch reruns like it's new content. It's insane to me how little has changed in the time I was gone.

I enjoy when Yuri goes through puberty mid-cutscene and we get super jarring voice changes.

300 a week executive order to current unemployment benefits(I'm currently furloughed as a result of Covid.) The money is allegedly coming out of a DHS fund.

As a reviled moderate, this seems like a terrible idea. Setting precedent for executive orders to allocate funding is mondo stupid.

If you're a hardline republican, you've given the opposition a blank check to EO anything you blindly oppose and have the precedent to do so.

If you're a Democrat, congress is supposed to control allocation of federal funding and this is a blatant violation of that. Find a method or means of admonishment that isn't just a verbal reprimand, it's become pretty apparent that the only actions that Trump shies away from are those with real-time consequences.

I'm really tired of the last decade. I just want quantitative easing to stop and the education/housing bubble to pop before it all happens at the same time.

Total scam by universities charging normal tuition rates under the pretense of holding "in person classes" while fully aware that it's impossible to do so for an extended period of time while ensuring the safety of the students and faculty. The intent was never to have on campus classes for more than a couple of weeks, but to justify the price of tuition remaining the same, CMV.

Better than in the actual OG games for sure. Being able to pivot to different 'mons throughout the run and actually sorta build a team is pretty dope.

Not to mention evolving is the most fun part of a Randomizer and with exp share you get so many more evolution opportunities.

It's too bad Nintendo doesn't go the Mario Maker route with Pokemon and give people an actual approved method of making their games better.
