Since Para brought up the whole "getting the killer right going into the trial" thing, here's how I did.

Got the killer right: Leon, Celeste, Sakura, Junko (as the mastermind), Mikan, Gonta, Kaito, Tsumugi.

Mess-ups:
I though Byakuya killed Chihiro.

I thought Nagito killed the impostor.

I had Mahiru's killer narrowed down to Peko washing the blood off and Sonia wearing a bodysuit to hide the blood and went with Sonia.

I thought Fuyuhiko killed Nekomaru.

Totally thought Nagito offed himself.

I thought Shuichi killed Rantaro.

I thought Miu fabricated her alibi with Gonta and killed Ryoma.

I thought Kiyo was too easy and thought Tenko killed Angie and Himiko killed Tenko and Himiko would get to survive.

I know I said I got Kaito right, but that's only half true. I thought both were dead, Kaito killed Kokichi and Maki killed Kaito, and would get to survive. I just REALLY thought the "first murder counts only" rule would actually mean something.

Oh, did you see the version with that line LtM just mentioned? I believe it was taken out of the version on Funimation's website because it was never supposed to be in there in the first place.

It was a barb by the voice actress at the bullshit the writers pulled with her character, and I guess through some kind of clever ploy, someone there was able to sneak the line in without anyone higher up noticing until it was too late.

You are basically correct about everything.

However, Junko getting glee out of making someone mad "cuz she dissed his waifus" is enough to bump the anime up to like a 5/10 for me. Also that very first killing game with the class officers was fucking brutal.

I come across this a lot. I think it's because you left the menu with it scrolled down all the way, and then you try to re-access it and it doesn't auto-scroll it back up to the top. If you hit down a bunch, the screen won't scroll, but after a bit, the cursor will come into view and you can then scroll the window back up.

I've noticed a lot of really poor design choices in the game like that. For instance, trying to navigate the nightmare that is the map. Why would I ever want my cursor on the absolute border of the map ever? And yet it's stuck there for all eternity and there's nothing I can do about it. Or if I want to travel somewhere close to an objective, and hitting the button auto-focuses the objective, which means I won't fast-travel. Why do you think I'm trying to click on that, you dumbass game?!

WHY CAN'T I HAVE MORE THAN ONE DIALOGUE OPTION PER NPC CHAT JUST HAVE A QUICK BLURB AND GO BACK TO THE CHOICE SO I CAN CHOOSE THE OTHER THINGS

A few years ago, I'd probably be in AA's camp all the way, but while the writing in AA is probably better, Danganronpa is just way more memorable and fun to think about all the time, so I'm gonna give it the edge here.

ZE is very fun and silly, but I don't hold it in quite the same footing as the other two.

I am basically the resident Hotel Dusk/Last Window superfan.

They are both fantastic stories. The mystery-solving isn't the best, but the story's beautifully told and the art style is gorgeous. The writing is stellar, and the protagonist is one of my favorite characters in all of videogames.

Angie is easily my least favorite character as a person, even after sitting and thinking on it for a while. Someone who uses religion to manipulate people into doing their bidding and to strongarm others into getting what they want combines a lot of personality traits that I absolutely despise.

But story-wise, she carries a single chapter in the game like only Nagito has ever done in the whole series, and I have to give her credit for that.

Oh hey, since I did characters and now we're on cases, let's do cases.

2-5 > 3-1 > 2-6 > 3-5 > 3-4 > 1-4 > 2-1 > 3-6 > 2-4 > 1-1 > 1-5/1-6 > 2-2 > 3-2 > 3-3 > 1-2 > 2-3 > 1-3

2-5 is my favorite mystery case in all of video games. Absolutely flawless.

3-1 is super close. The lines "I dropped everything I was holding" and "I put everything I was carrying in my backpack" are perfect.

2-6 is complete anime absurdity and I'm all for it. I don't care if it doesn't make any sense.

3-6 has my favorite twist in the entire series, but HOLY SHIT does this trial drag on and on and on....

3-3 has, I would assert, the best pre-trial buildup in the entire series. But not only does it not capitalize on a single plot device the game set up, it proceeds to completely forget that any of them even happened in the first place for the rest of the game.

1-2 is really boring up until the "same blue track suit" slip-up. Then it's fine.

Where 2-5 is my favorite mystery in all of video games, 1-3 is my absolute least favorite. Congratulations on committing a murder that literally only you could've pulled off, Celeste.

1-4 is the only great case in the game, and 1-1 gets credit for having some neat twists. Despite being the only case where I got the murderer incorrect going into it, 1-2 is still just kinda obnoxious.

If you decide to buy the games, definitely buy DR1+2 at the same time. That way, you're basically shoehorning yourself into playing the second game also, because the first one is some trash. Since you've got the AA series on the back of your mind, I'll give you my ranking of the AA and DR series' main games intertwined.

DRv3 > AA3 = DR2 > AA6 > AA5 > AA1 > AA2 >>>> DR1 > AA4

I've really, really come around on the later DR games lately. DRv3 in particular is an absolute masterpiece (and subversion) of storytelling.

If you upgrade artifacts and then funnel that suped-up artifact into a newer better artifact, it'll level it up as if you had used all the original artifacts, I believe. At least whenever I auto-level, it tries to use my +6 artifact not on someone and it levels the new one up by 6.

My main team is Razor/Fischl/Qiqi/Venti. I sub in Kaeya and Xiangling a lot, though. Other than them, Barbara and MC are the only two characters I've leveled past level 20. Venti is my only character ascended past level 50. Either Fischl or Qiqi will be next. Maybe. This game was a loooooot more fun to me when I could just wander around and find a bunch of shit everywhere.

Yes there is. Some claim it takes like 20 minutes if you know how to run it, but that seems difficult to me.

I mean, someone who can only mash one button with a level 50 character is gonna do infinitely better than a perfect player on a level 10 one. But there is a decent amount of skill involved, still. The main gimmick of the game is that you switch characters on the fly and combine their elements into a plethora of combos that do way more damage.

The consensus top 3 characters are two 5-star units and a 4-star one. It's not strictly "higher rarity = better unit", but that's gonna be the case in every gacha. Also, the best team isn't gonna be a bunch of 5-star guys, because elemental combos mean a lot. And really, just play as characters you think are fun. You'll be fine.
