The RCP average shows Biden losing 2.2 points from the average over the past three days, and the most accurate singular poll (Investor's Business Daily, which has been the best polling agency since 2004) went from Biden +9 to Biden +2 in the past week. The #1 answer people are giving is the laptop story.

I still think Biden trounces this election, but that laptop story and social media going this hard to censor it completely blew up in everyone's face. If Biden manages to choke this away, it needs to be the bellwether event for the mainstream media to stop acting like such trash. All they had to do was let the story get out, ignore it, and then deny it. People would have stopped caring in an hour. Instead they tried to censor it, then Biden ignored it, and then Biden took 5 days off from campaigning before his idiot lawyer verified that the contents were real.

Like this is the easiest election to win democrats will ever have. How are they screwing it up THIS badly despite 99% of the media and ALL of social media being completely in the bag for them?

RCP's average changing so rapidly is mostly an artifact of Biden's best pollsters' most recent polls falling out of the average. 538's average has only gone down by like half a point.

It's not just their search engine. Google has a pretty strong stranglehold on the online advertising industry-- you literally see Google bidding on Google's exchange against Google with the ad being served via Google's ad server. And of course, they're taking a cut each time.

Until a few years back, Google was effectively stacking the deck in programmatic bidding via their ad server, where they would basically have "last look" advantage. This meant that Google would take a look at the winning bid from a programmatic auction, and then choose to beat it by 1 penny if it was low enough.

Google intentionally walks a fine line to avoid being hit with antitrust stuff but Google and Facebook control so much of the online advertising business that it's been referred to as "the duopoly" for years.

Unless I misunderstand the lawsuit its just search, though. It doesnt have anything to do with their ad business.

The point of anti-trust is to protect the consumer, and I don't see how they're getting harmed at all by Google's behavior. Now, let's say I'm Firefox. I need to have *some* default search engine. Unless I have one of my own, it's in my best interest and my users' best interest to make it the one that's the most useful to my users, which is... Google. Under the agreement that's alleged to be problematic, Google pays me money for this, which I can then use to further develop Firefox. Firefox, in turn, actually competes with google against Chrome in an area where Google is not unambiguously the best (browsers). That seems good for competition on net, if anything!

Re: Biden having one cabinet member from the opposite party: that is a standard norm (even Trump did it: Shulkin for VA). The thing people in this topic (mainly me, I think) were saying he was obviously not going to do earlier was pick a Republican as his VP... and he didn't!

Anyway, assuming he does do so, someone like Charlie Dent (mentioned in the article) would be fine, but I certainly hope it's not someone who's quite conservative like Kasich.
