I didn't even play Monster Hunter but I just can't take it seriously when machine guns are involved
Then you see Mila actually use magic swords which is..good..but then you realize that 95% of the trailer is about guns and machine guns and you understand that only 10% of the movie will probably loyal to the source material

The monsters do like nice though

I do like the Shantae games but they are not as "Metroidvania" as Axiom Verge is. And this is something I respect. I just wish it was more interesting..but the potential was there!

I'm not trying to interrupt the racism in movies nor blackface history discussions, but just an outside question because I was more under the impression the Cleopatra buzz was less skin color and more religious/nationality division.
It's both
There is also the "Israel is a terrorist country and Gal Gadot served in the IDF and therfore she is a terrorist" but I don't pay those people any attention because they always exist and I couldn't care less about them

Going back to the discussion of movie casting, or hiring practices in general, historical context is important to note.

For 200 years, black people were a largely enslaved population in this country. And even after they were freed as a culture, they still faced a further hundred years of subservience prior to the civil rights act. Now, let's pretend for a moment that the civil rights act fixed all the problems with racism in our society and the people who fought against the civil rights act (and all the practices that still existed) just disappeared or calmly said "we've been beaten, we'll change our ways now". That still leaves hundreds of years in which white people were able to make tremendous gains while black people were not.

Imagine a company was founded in 1900 by a white businessman. That company likely wouldn't have employed many black workers, if any at all. The company grows and grows, but likely maintains the same hiring practices. Then the civil rights act happens. Equality is legally enshrined in our country. That company would still have all white executives (or an all white board or directors), and a predominantly white workforce. So even with the new equality between the races, imagine that this company has a job opening. A black man applies and a white man applies, both with relatively equal qualifications. The white man is more likely to get the job, not necessarily because of overt racism, but because of intangible qualities. Psychologically, people are more likely to relate to those similar to them, so if you look at a predominantly-white workforce, you then turn to the white applicant and think "this guy will fit in better with our current workplace culture." Plus, there's the added drawback for black applicants in this scenario is that they are less likely to have someone already within the company (be it a friend or family member) to vouch for them or refer them for the position.

This all compounds and furthers the disparity in employment at the company between black and white employees. The reason diversity quotas exist is because without them, it's possible that the "best" employee (as you say) for the job might be overlooked and outright snubbed, if he's not white.
So, what do you suggest?
Affirmative action? (is this the correct term? I think this is the correct term)
In this case, sure, it help the minority, but it also hurt the "strong". Is this the right course of action? does the "strong" have a right to complain about this?
I don't think there is a easy answer for this. I can't picture a scenario where everyone wins and everyone are happy. Some will have to get hurt in favor of others.
I am just asking what would be the best course of action, in which nobody gets hurt?

This actually continued in Discord
Smarter, and more civilised people than you, pointed me out that "blackface" is forbidden because of the history of the term
They agreed that, if that bad history didn't happen, then "blackfacing" wouldn't have been this bad as it is today
I had to agree - because as I said - context is important
I only wish we would leave the bad history behind. Because people used bad things in the past, used "blackface" to insult black people, is using it for positive purpose like cosplay also not allowed? if the history is so tainted and so painful, then...it shouldn't be allowed
But I wish in the future it will change

I'd like to point out that Hollywood executives, when pitched a movie about Harriet Tubman--a black slave who escaped her enslavement and became a crucial part of the Underground Railroad for other escaping slaves--had the kneejerk response of "let's cast Julia Roberts in the role". The problem, Corrik, is that historically, when trying to cast the "best" actor for the role, Hollywood tends to immediately default to white actors/actresses as the "best", without necessarily doing the work to consider whether, maybe, there are PoC who might be better.
This is true, there are plenty of black actors, some of them are fantastic

But the question is more than just black people..it's about every race and nation
If it's just a matter of "white can't play black people" then fine, but how far can we stretch this?
Can a French actor play a German character, for example?

Now if I want to make a movie about Taiwan, and well, I have enough budget to cast Jackie Chan as a main role even though he isn't Taiwanese, but rather chinese, but this is close enough (in terms of looks, I don't pretend to know about how different they are in other terms like culture)
And well I am sure there are some great Taiwanese actors as well but..I can have Jackie motherfucking Chan, why would I do otherwise?
This is no racism, this is just greed for money. This all that matters to Hollywood
And this is fine (or not fine, if you want to rebel against how the world works currently and feel like it should be changed)

It's all about the money. Always has been.

Yeah. The belief is not "every character should always be played by a person of the race that the character either was (for real people) or was intended to be when the character was created (for fictional people)" but rather "white people have historically been given far more opportunities in terms of film and television casting (including giving non-white roles to white actors), therefore to correct this imbalance, we should consider using race blind casting for white characters that don't NEED to be white".
This is fair as long as they state this and don't hide behind multiple excuses
But that would raise a question
If a white person voice a black character..for like, years, but then they got fired because "he isn't black"
Would that be fair for that white person?

Not everyone can win, with affirmative action "the strong" get hurt as well
If you think that this is fine - well, opinions, but I personally disagree

Nanis, you are going to have to learn that liberals are hypocrites regarding this. Nothing more.

If a POC is cast in a white role, it is a victory for them. Example is how they wanted Michael B Jordan to be Superman, Idris Elba to be James Bond, and so on down the road. If white characters change to be a POC it is a victory for "representation".

If Scarlet Johansen plays a character in a Ghost in the Shell, if whatever character that is white plays a POC (even if same skin color) it is whitewashing and bad.

It's hypocrisy.

Imagine this. They wanted a star actress to play a transgender character. The thinking is if a star played in the film the film might get more eye balls and representation. Instead, liberals freaked out a non-transgender person was playing the role. The star backs out amid the backlash. The movie has very slim pickings for who to cast now and shutters. Was that a victory for their cause?
Exactly, this is hypocrisy. Like always. This is always their problem

Now let's ignore my Nazi example from before
I want a help with drawing a line here
Please tell me what is considered offensive

A British actor playing a American, with a British accent
A American playing a British character, without a British accent
A TV show set in Russian, played by American actors
A trans character, played by a non-trans actor
A gay character, played by a straight actor
A male character voiced by a female
A female character voiced by a male
A eldery character played by a young actor
A woman (30-40 years old) played by a young actress (16-20 years old)
A black character (when accent is not important) voiced by a white actor
A white character voiced by a black actor (without a "black accent" and forgive me if that's racist I just don't know how to call this)
A black character (when accent is important) voiced by a white actor
A white character voiced by a black actor (with a accent)

Like there's nothing that game does that's outrageously bad compared to literally every other Final Fantasy
As a huge fan of IX, I must say that the gameplay of it is pretty meh sadly
Battle system too slow (didn't bother me much as I played on emulator with turbo, but it would suck otherwise) and Trance is useless
If you care about stuff like exclusive items then stealing with Zidane is also a pain in the ass
It doesn't even come close to VII in terms of gameplay. So if you value gameplay above story, cast and atmosphere, I can understand why someone wouldn't like IX
