Thats my favorite way to do it.

I suppose a complete and comprehensive list of hobbies related to self improvement would be very subjective, broad, and long. Longer than I feel like typing.

Look I know Its an impossible battle trying to convince people on a forum of out of shape, pale, hunchbacked, socially awkward vidya game nerds.

But theres plenty of other fun hobbies you can do to improve yourself. Running, jogging, hiking, swimming, weight lifting, martial arts, bike riding, etc.

If you actually listen to the point he was making its not like he said anything wrong.

His point is that if you spend 5 hours sitting on the couch playing video games you dont really get any benefit from it once your done.

Theres many other hobbies that people indulge in that can benefit them physically, socially, mentally, etc.

Joe even said video games are fun, and he himself has spent countless hours playing them.
