Lori Alan put down a game Rene, and our other seeded competitor (Draper) won far more handily. Mark Hamill absolutely destroys one of the industry's most celebrated and prolific VAs; he's definitely a contender to take this 8-pack though he'll have to beat two seeded competitors to do it.

I will do Day 2 later tonight; want to keep a vaguely consistent start time and I was too exhausted last night to count.

I'll also start hunting audio clips for each competitor from now on to post in the OP - however they won't necessarily be THE BEST EXAMPLE of their work, it will be just a small sample, so you're free to post any other audio clips in the topic to try and sway voters.

Trying not to be afraid of it, because I feel like being afraid of the future is what leads to me becoming a 60-something victim of the Skinner "am I so out of touch?" meme. I don't want to fall into the trap of like, generational fear of progress? Which isn't necessarily always tied to age but it often is and I think that starts with being scared of the future now when I'm in my early 30s.

Though there are a lot of issues re the future that are pretty separate to that, like climate change, which is obviously a scary prospect.

I kinda want to see more reaaaally old games get completely redone - most often 2D games becoming 3D. The big ones for me are Metal Gear 1/2, because that would be like a completely new thing if you put enough into it.

RE2/3 and FF7 are both decent examples of this though. THPS or DAH wouldn't quite count.

The series had almost as many prequels as sequels. At a certain point it catches up to you. Its prequels are 3, V, PW (and PO). Its linear sequel games are MG1/2, MGS1, 2 and 4. Given the short length of the main games and the fact you play as Raiden in 2, the series chronologically spends considerably more time establishing Big Boss than it does letting you play as Snake.

That led to retcons and "oh THAT'S how that happened" stuff because it's audience expectation for a prequel.

I mean those observations are correct but since MGS2 came out (not counting Revengeance) there's been one game set after it and 4 set before it (Not counting Ground Zeroes). It was kind of expected once the series went in this direction.

So after a lengthy nomination process we were left with 64 competitors ready to go.

For those who haven't been reading the nomination topic, the first 16 in the bracket received seeds and so have been kept apart until round 3. Everything after that was essentially randomized.

I seeded it as I said I would, so the 16 in the previous post are kept separate until round 3. Lori Alan was actually the first one nominated, getting her 3 noms after just 9 posts, so she takes the #1 seed. Hayter is 2, North 3. Beyond that I really am not sure how the voting will go so further seeding doesn't seem particularly useful.

I will make a discussion/prediction topic later, but want to finalise this first; I'm not exactly an expert in bracketmaking

IDK about the bracket yet (will do it later), but for starters I'll use the first 16 nominated as seeds, then probably randomize it after that. Depending on speed of nomination I'll separate them, too, eg best I can tell the first two to get three nominations were Hayter/Snake and North/Drake, so they'll be on opposite sides of the bracket.

So it won't be fully seeded but the "big hitters" will be kept separate.

When KP tallied the noms the first time we had 15 in, then the first one in after that was Draper/Elizabeth.
