It's obvious there must be ways to get diamonds or titan's blood, but I've been steadfastly refusing to spend mine from the boss kills until I know I can get more. I had the impression fishing was the solution to that.

Fishing is 1 way to get more titan's blood and diamonds but the game has another system called heat that lets you get more. Basically once you escape for the first time you can add a heat modifier to your next run for that weapon. Things like "enemies have 15% more health" will give you 1 heat and there are modifiers to get up to like 55 or something.

Beating a boss with 1 heat will reward another titan's blood or diamond. Then once you escape with 1 heat, beating a boss with 2 heat will reward it again. Each weapon has separate heat values too

For a three-minute presentation, they shouldn't have announced it early, they should have just dropped it suddenly tomorrow morning. Instead we get 24 hours of hype buildup by the fans with the least realistic imaginations who will then blow up when their expectations aren't met.

The game should just update and the new character is in your roster with no announcement. I think that would generate the most excitement out of people even if it's someone they don't want.

Well in Heroes of the Storm it doesn't restore health (until you're max level) so there's precedent at least. I'd imagine her Up+B would be recall as a recovery move but IDK

The big rumor is Tracer but I'm really struggling to see how they'd make an entire moveset for her. They'd basically be pulling a Captain Falcon and making up new stuff for her which seems odd for a 3rd party character. Even in Heroes of the Storm her moveset is blink, melee, bomb, recall.

The combat doesn't get a whole lot better but you'll get better at using your signs probably. Yeah a few hours after first big city is maybe a stopping point if you're not feeling it then.

Yeah Al'akir automatically wins pretty much every fight for the first 5/6 rounds and then his hero power isn't completely useless in the late game so I think he's fine.

I'm at about 60 runs and 35 hours but I think I'm reaching the point where I've had my fill. I mean that's a lot longer than I've spent with some other recent roguelikes like One Step from Eden so I'd say that's a pretty good number.

I think the weapon and run variety is just a little too low for a game like this to keep me hooked for 200 hours like Binding of Isaac did. The story is great and I'm glad it's drawing a lot of people into a genre they don't normally enjoy but I think I would have personally preferred less story and more weapons/variety in runs.

But I'm just nitpicking, this is still a 9/10 game.

I mean you really only use the charge on the Guan Yu spear when you need some healing, otherwise it's not very strong. The special attack is where it's at with that spear.

What was the first game that had a full 3D camera mapped to the right analog stick? I remember games like Kingdom Hearts on PS2 still had L2 and R2 camera rotation (although that was because the right stick moved the command menu)

To be fair they didn't actually make any balance changes for Battlegrounds.

I haven't played in about 2 weeks now and I might wait to see how the changes feel before trying to play again. The last battlegrounds meta left such a sour taste that I basically swore off the whole game. Losing every other game on turn 10 to a guy with a crazy high roll was too frustrating.

What We Do In The Shadows is what i discovered during S2. The first 4-5 can drag at times, but after that the end of S1 into S2 cements it as the best current comedy. Barry is still a better overall show, but those two are definitely worth watching.

Yeah I gave up on Shadows after 3 or 4 episodes because it really wasn't grabbing me. All of the characters had the same sort of wacky energy it felt like

The Witcher - just okay, season 2 has potential I think

Good Omens - started strong but really fizzled out by the end. It was only 6 episodes though so I still recommend it

Ozark - doesn't really compete with Breaking Bad despite the obvious similarities but it was still pretty good

The Expanse - my friends keep telling me I need to watch this show so I'm on episode 2 now. I hear the first season is not very good but it's already drawn me in with a pretty cool Sci-Fi world so good news if it only keeps getting better

Wow the extreme measures 3rd boss took all 3 of my lives but I still managed to beat the last boss. I can't imagine the final boss with extreme measures.

The 3rd boss with extreme measures was the first time where I felt like I legitimately couldn't avoid damage in some situations but I'm sure it'll get better as I keep playing.

Yeah SMP was pretty traditional unless you're talking about each character having different loaded dice they could use. I always wished you could turn that off but everything else was pretty standard from what I can remember.

This is true but bosses also drop darkness if you've already cleared their bounty. My health is usually full between rooms so I don't need the +3 but I'm definitely going to take some hits against bosses. The darkness + fountain combo usually means I have full health starting the next floor.

I think it's better for new players but yeah the +3 is probably better for experienced players

I would recommend swapping the one that gives you 3 health per new room to the alternative that gives you health whenever you pick up darkness. You get 60% of the darkness as health which is often more healing than you'd get from the rooms.

Also the death defiance alternative gives you unlimited uses but it can only be used once per encounter. I think that one is better for new players also if you're struggling getting to bosses.

Yeah for that fight it's important to focus minotaur first and also max out your call gauge. When Asterius uses his god boost you can usually take him from 50% to like 10% with a fully maxed gauge depending on which call you have.

I think I just found one of the top 5 boons in the game. Duo between Demeter and Artemis - restore 1 health every 0.8 seconds if you don't have any death defiance stacks left. I was healing so much against the last boss it was silly

Holy shit they just had a game end with both players grabbing the crown on Fall Mountain at the both time so they BOTH got a crown. They were 3rd and 4th place and they got pushed into 1st and 2nd to qualify in their round.

Yeah Persona 5 and Dragon Quest XI were two of my favorite games this gen but I rarely (never) replay games so I was bummed out to see deluxe editions of both.

Kinda feels like being punished for playing games early when you never know if there's going to be a super deluxe edition later.

Eventually you unlock something that lets you dump keys and darkness but I think it's just a pride thing, no actual gameplay stuff. I mean knowing this game it probably unlocks SOMETHING when you max it out but personally I'm trading keys for nectar at the shop. Still too many relationships that need maxing

I would recommend switching to the perk that gives you health every time you pick up darkness. I think it's better early on

I'm up to about heat level 6 for most weapons. I kinda wish I could add more heat than 1 at a time because beating a run is not very challenging at this point.

I'm sure they probably will, but even if they botched the announcement of it, it's really cool that they're offering the digital version with the ultimate edition of Miles.

Why is that really cool? The standard edition is $50, the Deluxe is $70 and it doesn't seem like the Deluxe has any other benefits except receiving the first game.

I mean it's not exactly a bad practice but it's a bit of a headscratcher

Yeah I played about an hour total of SM64 and Sunshine but I'm not feeling a strong desire to return to either. I'll probably go back and try SM64 again out of guilt eventually but I doubt I'm going to have a good time.

Shovel Knight is amazing and it's technically 4 different games at this point. I'm not sure how it would hold up trying to play through all campaigns back to back because I played them as they were released so there was a gap but it's still 10/10.

Hades was released out of early access about a week ago and the devs said they're done adding content so you can jump in now. You might run into the same variation issues as dead cells but there are 6 distinct weapons with 4 variations each that can mix up gameplay. There's also the whole visual novel aspect which keeps updating after you finish a run which is good incentive to keep playing.

Guac 2 is about as forgettable as the first but they're good short games (under 10 hours) if you can grab it for like $10 and need a palette cleaner. Those games are also co-op if you're looking for more co-op games.

I felt that way initially about the original SBR stages but the evolution of that being "well let's just make the numbers higher" is pretty stale to me. I already feel like I've conquered all of this content.

I think Dokkan has just reached the height of what it can do as a game unless they completely overhaul the entire combat system. I applaud Chain Battle for the effort of trying something new but I can't exactly say that was successful.

Kinda feeling like I might need a break from Dokkan or maybe even to just quit cold turkey. The latest ESBR stages made me realize that I'm not really having fun doing that kind of content but that's basically the only thing left for Dokkan at this point. Mindlessly farming cards for content I'm never going to use has started to lose it's appeal.

At the very least I think I'm going to stop spending money on Dokkan but my interest/motivation has really started to decline over the last few months. Anyone else feeling the same?
