Anyone else's city have canine inspection day? They have a guy check for phimosis, see if the balls dropped etc. It's a weird process but I guess it's necessary. $20 on top of everything.

Sucks for him and their family, but it's not their fault and they shouldn't blame themselves for not seeing her as likely would only have contributed to spreading it. She's the only one at fault here, but probably not the best thing to say to him right now.

IMO she was beyond dumb. She hosted a superspreader event with children (I'd guess 8 year olds). My concern is for my pal whose last memory of her is an apparently nasty argument. He's shook. I don't have a MIL but he apparently valued the relationship.

In a delicate way, that's what I tried to console him with. To me, I never knew the woman but he and his wife are pretty beat up about it.

He feels guilty over an argument they had because she wanted a birthday party she wanted to throw for one of her grandchildren. He, his wife, child and mother didn't want to go so they dropped off presents on the door stoop.

His MIL said that COVID didn't exist, it was overblown, etc. She said she wasn't going to "driven into fear" by people with "no faith in God". "God will sort it out" etc.

He's torn up about it but the best I could manage was that there are some people you can't save from themselves.

Gave him the rest of the week off.
