I've briefly spammed about it in several threads over the past few months.

It's really great. Challenging puzzles and gameplay, engrossing story. These developers know what they're doing.

Though, since I got back --- very few people talk about games on this forum in a "I like to play them" way.

Here in Qubec, most places don't require a mask, many stores have put plexiglass panes where the cashier are. There's floor markings for social distance. Dine-in is possible, with more distance between tables than before.

Some chains require all employees to wear masks.

It's amazing this isn't what's being done in Texas or elsewhere. it would be something instead of hoping the virus goes away if you close everything XD

What folks don't realize is that there are thousands of people working worldwide to make these kinds of jobs mostly obsolete.

Walmart wages is a problem being discussed, but the solution isn't going to be paying basic walmart employees more.

There's a legit disconnect between 'It's a corporation, they're insured/don't care about losses' and 'they'll revert back once they lose too much money to theft'. Which is it? They either don't care about looses or they do. Losing X in inventory and paying X in salary is both just a number in a spreadsheet, it's still money lost --- and if the goods are as cheap as everyone says, losing inventory is going to cost them less than cutting the basic positions. Something they have been doing for *years*.0

Between a few monitors and a bunch of dollars in electricity once the initial setup is done, it's always going to be cheaper than paying a handful of minimum wage employees around the clock in addition to whatever else might be needed to keep them.

Look in the past, no company that pushed back against technological advancement survived, unions can flop about as much as they want about wages and benefits, they'll cave or go extinct. The family stores that Walmart is gutting? That's what happens with them. Better choice, better prices, better distribution. You can harp about local stores all you want, the majority will want convenience, hence --- Walmart thrives, the local stores they go extinct or adapt.

Like before.

You're 'temp to hire', so yes.

Once you have something permanent, you can then weight the pros/cons of keeping seniority vs getting a few bucks more in exchange, especially in your field.

Right now you're on a limited schedule and also a temp. If they need to cut somewhere, you're high up on that list (Regardless of what level of middle-management you report to says about it).

It seems that some feel that "ludonarrative dissonance" devalues games as art, hence the obsession with making games less "gamey". However, you're never going to completely remove all elements like that without a game basically ceasing to be a game.

I think the best touches go unnoticed.

IE: not fighting human enemies in Tales Abyss until a certain point in the story.

Ultimately, I'm playing a game so any concessions for story purposes shouldn't neglect the game aspect :/

As another brought up, the Tomb Raider reboot did that strangely in the first installment... but it was a lot of fun to play for me.

Lots of these threads are filled with prople who don't know how company insurance, payroll, revenue works. Anyone here knows the specifics of the walmart store at play here? Doubt it.

Your idea of "pay everyone while taking the loss" was ridiculous, but you may be speaking from a position with actual knowledge to work it out, which is what prompted the question.

Wasn't asking for your place of employment, was asking what you do for a living. A business owner is more likely to have the knowledge to back up such ideas.

Wouldn't that limit the open world aspect?

I see that as great for some roleplay game-styles, but would be worse than having to menu-switch every time something required you to switch clothing. It was kinda annoying in the game because I kept doing it initially because I wanted to explore a certain area requiring it. That feeling wouldn't have been different, but it would have been a more annoying switch :/

I'd definitively see that on a different difficulty level though.
