And we are all caught up on The Expanse! My wife says her favorite characters were Amos and Ashford. Both solid choices!

I'm telling you guys, season 5 is going to be so good.

Yeah, the Edgeworth mangas are good. I liked the Phoenix ones, too, even if the cases can't hold a candle to the games.

Yeah, like I said, the fact that AJ basically pretends everything in PW1-3 didn't happen (except for 1-5) is one of my biggest problems with it. The moment I knew everything was going to be okay again in DD was when Phoenix made a direct reference to 2-2 and Franziska in 5-2.

Iris and Phoenix's relationship is 100% over after the events of AA3 and they both know it, I really don't see any intent from either of them to try to patch that one up, especially not from Phoenix's end which would be pretty damn weird if you think about it considering what Iris was complicit in putting him through. (She might be in jail anyway)

I mean the scene with Iris in the credits seems to imply that they're trying to work on rekindling the old flame!

And it would actually be very much in-character for Phoenix for him to accept her anyway, especially since he basically says as much at the end of 3-5 with "You really are the person I always thought you were."

Match 5: King Dedede vs. Samus Aran vs. Rosalina & Luma vs. Princess Daisy

Sephiroth: Daisy gets yet another crack at Rosalina. Can she finally get the best of her?

*Rosalina loses two Lumas in relatively short order after the match has begun. Samus and Rosalina pile on the damage on Dedede and Daisy. Samus nearly KOs Rosalina with a smash attack, while Daisy grabs a Bullet Bill and crashes into Dedede with it to KO him. Dedede returns and hits Rosalina with an up-air to nearly KO her, but when she falls, Daisy smacks her with her side-air to get her for real*

Crono: Rosalina has proven to be pretty durable, but all three of them contributed to the knockout that time.

*Dedede tries to nail Daisy with one of his projectiles but she dodges. However, Samus is right there to blast Daisy with her up-smash to KO her. Dedede gets his Final Smash and uses it right away on Rosalina, sending her flying for good damage. Daisy hits Samus with an item to KO her. Rosalina gets her Final Smash and catches Dedede with it, but he survives. A Smash Ball appears, and after some fighting over it, Daisy gets it and puts everyone to sleep. She charges up her smash attack and seems to relish holding it for that extra second before crushing Rosalina with it for the KO*

Sephiroth: You can tell Daisy is going hard after Rosalina out there. I like her dedication.

*Samus gets her Final Smash and catches Rosalina when she returns for good damage. Then Samus chases Dedede off the stage and nails him with a meteor strike for the KO. Rosalina throws out a bumper off the side of the stage. Daisy hits it and falls down, and Samus is there to greet her with a side-air for the KO*

Crono: Samus is on a rampage right now!

*Dedede gets an Assist Trophy, and its a Klaptrap. It latches onto Samus and nearly KOs her, but she survives. Then Rosalina hits her with her side attack to finish the job. Dedede gets his Final Smash, but hes knocked away and beyond recovery to eliminate him from the match before he can use it. Samus grabs a Poke Ball and unleashes the Pokemon from it. It knocks Rosalina and Daisy up into the air, activating Rosalinas Final Smash. However, before she can use it, the Pokemon hits them again for a double KO to end the match*

Sephiroth: Samus wins! Once again, this match came to an end very quickly, with all three final knockouts happening within 11 seconds of each other.

Crono: Technically Daisy did beat out Rosalina this time, even if only by a split second. You can tell she was focused on her as her only two KOs were on Rosalina. Samus got all three KOs on Dedede, while Rosalina got both KOs on Samus. Dedede dealt 541% damage, over 200% more than the next highest, and finished last, while Daisy only dealt 194% and nearly won. The margins are that close sometimes.

1. Samus Aran
2. Princess Daisy
3. Rosalina & Luma
4. King Dedede

Match 4: Mii Swordfighter (Zero) vs. Dr. Mario vs. Luigi vs. Ryu

Sephiroth: Will the two Mario brothers team up for mutual gain or will a sibling rivalry emerge?

*Dr. Mario gets a Poke Ball early, and he uses it to drive Swordfighter and Ryu off the stage for quick KOs. Then Ryu and Dr. Mario gang up on Luigi to bounce him off the platform and down below the stage for a KO. Then the other three fighters clearly focus on getting rid of Dr. Mario to prevent him from getting a big lead, as they hit him with their powerful specials and up-smashes, with Ryu eventually KOing him with his up-B*

Crono: Were seeing the fighters work together to make sure no one takes a commanding lead.

*Dr. Mario gets his Final Smash but cant seem to find the right spot to use it. Swordfighter nearly knocks him beyond recovery, but he narrowly gets back and hits Ryu with his Final Smash but cant quite KO him. This gives Ryu his Final Smash as well, and he catches all three fighters clustered together with it for the rare triple KO*

Sephiroth: Wow, Ryu showing some savvy veteran tactics there to KO all three fighters at once.

*A Smash Ball appears, and Swordfighter gets it. He manages to hit Ryu with it, but since he was so high up in the air, hes able to drift back toward the stage and grab the very bottom ledge. Then Dr. Mario hits Ryu with his down-B to knock him into the front of the screen for the KO. Swordfighter completes an item and tries to blast Ryu with it, but he only narrowly grazes him so it doesnt do full damage. Luigi gets his Final Smash and catches Ryu and Swordfighter with it, and theyre launched off the stage to eliminate both of them from the match*

Crono: And just like that, were down to the two brothers!

*Dr. Mario knocks Luigi off the ledge and tries to line up a side-smash as he gets back onto the stage to finish him off, but Luigi dodges it. He hits Dr. Mario with his down-B, which activates the docs Final Smash, but Luigi follow it up with his side-air to win the match*

Sephiroth: Luigi wins! I guess he can take the spotlight for today.

Crono: This was such a chaotic match, filled with double KOs and even a triple KO. No fighter had a clear upper hand here. It was just a matter of timing and making their Final Smashes work when it came down to it.

1. Luigi
2. Dr. Mario
3. Mii Swordfighter (Zero)
4. Ryu

The ones right before you fight Seifer, the ones you have to rescue Rinoa from, so you missed it if you don't have Carbuncle. Also, use the Cursed Lamp and beat Diablos.

You should not be using drawing as your main source of spells. Refining is infinitely more efficient.

Also, learn Card Mod to refine the cards you don't use.

Match 3: Shulk vs. Cloud Strife vs. Isabelle vs. Terry Bogard

Sephiroth: One of these fighters is not like the others, but can Isabelle continue winning as the underdog?

*Terry and Isabelle take the brunt of the early damage. Terry is nearly KOd by an explosion but manages to survive. Cloud nearly KOs Shulk with a meteor strike, but since he does it from too high up, Shulk is able to recover. Cloud gets a Super Scope and hits Isabelle with a fully charged blast for the KO. Terry hits Shulk with his side-B to KO him as Cloud then hits him with a fully charged shot to KO him an instant later*

Crono: Cloud showing he knows his way around a gunof sorts.

*Shortly after returning, Terry is able to connect with his side-B to KO Cloud. Isabelle gets the Golden Hammer but cant hit anyone with it. A Smash Ball appears as Cloud and Terry get their Final Smashes. Cloud acts first and catches Terry with his but doesnt KO him. Shulk grabs the Smash Ball and hits Cloud and Terry with it for a double KO*

Sephiroth: Shulk sneaks in as Cloud and Terry were duking it out. I respect that level of opportunism.

*Isabelle gets her Final Smash but cant hit anyone with it. Terry hits Shulk with his neutral-B and knocks him beyond recovery for a KO. Terry finally gets to use his Final Smash and hits Shulk with it, but since hes just come back, it doesnt KO him. Terry hits Isabelle with his side-smash to KO her*

Crono: And everyones down to their last stock. This should be an exciting finish!

*Shulk gets his Final Smash and catches both Cloud and Terry at the same time again, KOing Terry and then Cloud an instant later to eliminate them both. Isabelle gets her Final Smash and grabs an Assist Trophy. She misses her opportunity to catch Shulk with it, and while Samurai Goroh hits him a couple times, he stays alive. A Smash Ball appears, and Isabelle grabs it. While Shulk tries to keep his distance, Isabelle eventually traps him with her Final Smash and KOs him to win the match*

Sephiroth: Isabelle wins! She just keeps winning these matches against all odds!

Crono: There was no real standout here as all four characters were fairly even in terms of damage dealt and received, and it wasnt like one character was getting all the KOs. Isabelle just happened to be the last one standing when it was all said and done.

1. Isabelle
2. Shulk
3. Cloud Strife
4. Terry Bogard

Match 2: Chrom vs. Simon Belmont vs. Byleth vs. Ike

Sephiroth: Its a Fire Emblem fest with Simon caught in the middle of it. Can he overcome the odds and emerge victorious?

*Simon takes the early lead in terms of percentage, but all four fighters are hitting each other hard. Byleth nearly KOs Chrom with his side-smash. Simon chases Chrom off the side and hits him with a follow up attack for the KO, but he strands himself too far out and falls for a KO as well. Byleth gets the club and hits Simon with a fully charged blast to nearly push him beyond recovery but he narrowly survives. Chrom gets his Final Smash but completely misses. Byleth hits Simon with another fully charged blast from the club and successfully KOs him this time*

Crono: Uh oh, and just like that, Simons already down to just 1 stock!

*Ike grabs a Crash Bomber as Byleth comes for him and blasts Byleth for an explosive KO. Ike gets his Final Smash, but Chrom hits him with a fully charged laser blast to KO him before he can use it. Simon gets his Final Smash and captures Byleth with it, sending him off the stage for a KO. Chrom hits Ike with a fully charged laser again, and he knocked too far away to recover for a low percentage KO*

Sephiroth: Ike was in the drivers seat earlier, but now hes down to his last stock as well.

*Ike and Byleth get their Final Smashes at the same time, but Ike strikes first, crushing Byleth for the KO. Byleth comes back and hits Chrom with his up-smash for the KO. All four fighters battle off the right side of the stage, trying to knock each other away. Eventually, Ike gets pushed too far out and is the first character eliminated*

Crono: These fighters are giving it all theyve got as the match draws to a close!

*Chrom nearly eliminates Simon with his side-smash but he isnt immediately KOd. He bounces Byleth off the top of the platform with his up-smash and his momentum knocks him down below the stage to eliminate him from the match. A second later, Simon fails to get back to the stage and is KOd to end the match*

Sephiroth: Chrom wins! That was a whirlwind finish at the end there, as all three characters were eliminated within 15 seconds of each other!

Crono: It was a bit disappointing to see Ike go out first despite the strong start and dealing 5 KOs, the most of anyone. Chrom seemed to fly under the radar for most of the match, as he didnt even deal 200% damage total for the match.

1. Chrom
2. Simon Belmont
3. Byleth
4. Ike

Free for All Tournament

Match 1: Fox McCloud vs. Mega Man vs. Mr. Game & Watch vs. Banjo-Kazooie

Sephiroth: Three of these fighters have already lost during the week, so can one of them turn their luck around here?

*Banjo takes a beating from everyone early on. At one point, Game & Watch and Banjo get launched out by an explosion, which KOs Banjo, but Game & Watch manages to get back. Game & Watch grabs the star wand and hits Fox with a fully charged blast to KO him. Then Mega Man crushes Game & Watch with his down-smash to KO him. Right after that, Banjo hits Mega Man with his side-smash to complete the KO circuit*

Crono: And just like that, everyones already down a stock.

*Banjo gets his Final Smash and catches Fox with it for the KO. Game & Watch gets his Final Smash but cant capture anyone with it. Mega Man gets his Final Smash and catches Fox with it, and just like that, hes eliminated from the match*

Sephiroth: Ouch, thats just bad luck for Fox getting caught by two different Final Smashes, and hes outta here.

*A Smash Ball drops on the stage and Banjo comes down with it. He snags Game & Watch with it for the KO. Mega Man and Banjo try to KO each other for a while, and when they both charge in for dash attacks, Banjos move takes priority and he sends Mega Man flying for the KO. Game & Watch gets his Final Smash, and he carries Banjo off the side for a KO at 225%. After Game & Watch grabs an Assist Trophy, Mega Man pounces on the moment of vulnerability and eliminates him with an up-smash*

Crono: And now Game & Watch is gone after landing a big knockout on Banjo.

*However, Game & Watchs Chain Chomp Assist Trophy is in the middle of the stage and deals good damage to both remaining fighters. Then Mega Man grabs an Assist Trophy, which brings out Shovel Knight. Banjo gets knocked away by him and gets his Final Smash, but before he can use it, Mega Man nails him from below with his up-smash to win the match*

Sephiroth: Mega Man wins! The super fighting robot finally gets a win!

Crono: And Mega Man certainly earned it, netting 5 KOs, the most of any fighter. Fox was eliminated a mere 2 minutes into the match, and he was KOd by each fighter.

1. Mega Man
2. Banjo-Kazooie
3. Mr. Game & Watch
4. Fox McCloud

Match 5: Sheik/Princess Zelda vs. Mega Man/Pac-Man

Sephiroth: Its two guys with Man in their names against two characters who are secretly the same character!

*Zelda takes the early advantage as the other three rack up damage fairly equally. Mega Man nearly meteor strikes Sheik for an early KO, but shes able to get back up. Zelda nails Mega Man with her down-B to get the first KO of the match. A Smash Ball appears, and Pac-Man gets it. As hes using his Final Smash unsuccessfully, Zelda nails Mega Man with a meteor strike for the KO. Pac-Man returns to the stage and nails Sheik with his side-B for the KO*

Crono: Pac-Man botched the Final Smash, but he managed to make up for it pretty quickly.

*Mega Man gets his Final Smash but cant hit anyone with it. He nearly KOs Zelda with his up-smash, and Sheik nearly sends Pac-Man flying off the stage with two consecutive smash attacks. Mega Man blasts Zelda with his side-smash, but shes able to get back to the stage. Zelda strikes true with her projectile to KO Pac-Man. Then she quickly follows it up with a side-smash to KO Mega Man as well*

Sephiroth: Zelda is doing some serious damage out there! Its like 2018 all over again!

*Zelda gets her Final Smash and catches Pac-Man with it, but since hes just come back, it deals good damage but doesnt KO him. Then Sheik gets her Final Smash and blindsides Pac-Man with it to finish the job and get the KO. Mega Man and Pac-Man are determined to finally KO Zelda but they cant quite seem to connect on the killing blow. Finally, after several tries, Mega Man slashes her with his side-air to KO her*

Crono: Good teamwork on Sheik and Zeldas part to use their Final Smashes back to back to land the knockout.

*Pac-Man gets his Final Smash and nearly KOs Zelda with it again right away. A Smash Ball appears, and Pac-Man gets that, too. This time, he follows through and gets both Zelda and Sheik for a double KO. Mega Man gets his Final Smash but misses again. Zelda gets her Final Smash and catches Mega Man with it for the KO. Then she nails Pac-Man with her side-air to KO him as well*

Sephiroth: Mega Man has missed both of his Final Smash attempts so far, but Pac-Man is doing his best to compensate for him.

*As the end of the match approaches, all four fighters go strong at each other. Sheik gets her Final Smash but misses. Then Zelda meteor strikes Pac-Man for a KO with 15 seconds left. Pac-Man gets his Final Smash and double KOs Sheik and Zelda in the last five seconds*

Sephiroth: Sheik and Zelda win, +2 to -2! Those last second KOs made the final score look closer than it actually was.

Crono: Zelda absolutely dominated here, getting 7 KOs and making up for the fact that Sheik only got 1. Pac-Man also got no help from Mega Man, getting 5 KOs to his 1. Zelda racked up nearly 700% of damage on her own, which was more than Mega Man and Pac-Man combined.

Match 4: Joker/Shulk vs. Mario/Dr. Mario

Sephiroth: I thought one Mario was bad enough, but now we have two? Ugh.

*Team Mario starts off with the offensive advantage. However, once Joker brings out Arsene, he blasts Mario beyond recovery for a low percentage KO. Dr. Mario hits Shulk off the side and follows it up with an air attack for the KO. Mario blasts Joker with a hard air attack and nearly KOs him, but he manages to grab the ledge to survive*

Crono: You always have to be on your guard when Arsene makes an appearance.

*Shulk gets his Final Smash and catches Mario in it for an instant KO. Joker brings out Arsene again and launches Dr. Mario sky high but cant quite finish him off. Mario follows up behind Joker and does the same thing to him, but he also stays alive. Dr. Mario gets his Final Smash and uses it to push Shulk away, but he doesnt get the KO. However, he up-smashes Joker a second later to KO him instead*

Sephiroth: Were seeing so many near-KOs in rapid succession and then Dr. Mario actually finishes the job.

*A Smash Ball drops onto the stage as Mario gets his Final Smash, and he up-smashes Shulk for a KO in the meantime. He catches Joker and Shulk with it but cant KO either one. Dr. Mario grabs the Smash Ball as Joker gets his Final Smash, and Dr. Mario nails Joker and Shulk with his Final Smash to strike first, but only Shulk gets KOd. Shulk returns and immediately nails Dr. Mario to KO him for the first time at 210% damage*

Crono: Dr. Mario held on for quite a while there. Hes been a force in this match so far.

*Mario persistently chases after Joker and eventually side-smashes him for the KO before he can use his Final Smash. Shulk gets his own Final Smash and hits Dr. Mario with it for good damage. Joker and Shulk gang up on Dr. Mario and drive his percentage up quickly but cant quite land a kill shot. Joker brings out Arsene and sends Dr. Mario flying, and when that isnt enough, he chases him out and crushes him with a follow up attack to get the KO*

Sephiroth: Good work by Joker to keep after Dr. Mario until he got the knockout.

*Dr. Mario returns and blasts Shulk with a side-smash for a fast KO upon returning. Then he gets his Final Smash and catches both opponents with it. Joker claws his way back to the stage and sends Mario flying when he tries to edge guard. A Smash Ball appears, and as they fight over it, Joker blasts Mario with Arsene for a KO. Shulk grabs the Smash Ball as Mario gets his Final Smash with only ten seconds left. Mario uses his first and KOs Joker as time expires*

Sephiroth: Mario and Dr. Mario win, +2 to -2! Mario striking first proved to be the difference at the very end.

Crono: Dr. Mario was the star here, as he was the only fighter with a positive score. He dealt nearly 200% more damage than the next closest fighter and just over 600% overall. Joker really struggled offensively, dealing under 300% damage when everyone else was at 400% or more.

no explanation at all of why you think its bad.

pezzicle posted...
what those are? no idea

already explained it earlier in the topic but I'm glad you think I'm actually getting close to meeting your standard for discourse, you have no idea how much I needed that stamp of approval

I'm sorry I don't have all day to devote to specifically talking to you since you won't actually go back and re-read the topic, maybe it won't take three hours next time if you would do that instead of insisting I directly repeat them to you

TLOU1 actually gives you a reason to empathize with Joel even if you don't agree with what he did. I think Joel did the wrong thing, but I've at least been given time to make the connection of how much Ellie means to him. TLOU2 seems to just jump straight into Abby killing this guy. No context, no explanation, no buildup, no internal conflict on Abby's part about a guy who literally saved her life minutes before, just "hey it's Joel, oh Joel's dead." As someone else said earlier, it's just extremely heavy handed in their attempt to beat it into your head that revenge is bad.

Match 3: Fox McCloud/Falco Lombardi vs. Greninja/Incineroar

Sephiroth: Weve got another Pokemon team here. Can they keep the winning streak going?

*Things start off evenly with neither team taking a decided advantage. The Star Fox team gradually pulls ahead, and Fox gets the first KO of the match by hitting Greninja with his up-air. The fight goes off of the side as Falco tries to get an early KO of Greninja, but the Pokemon responds by sending Falco flying beyond recovery for a KO of his own*

Crono: That didnt go the way Falco expected!

*Incineroar hits Fox with his side-smash and nearly KOs him, but hes able to get back to the stage. Greninja nails Fox as he uses his side-B to get back to the stage and sends him flying again, but he lands safely on a platform. Incineroar clubs Falco beyond recovery to get the KO. Fox gets his Final Smash but misses when he tries to use it. Then Incineroar gets his Final Smash and punishes Fox with it, and Falco gets sent flying by the collateral damage for the double KO. As soon as Fox returns, he hits Incineroar with his air attack to KO him as well*

Sephiroth: Incineroar made Fox pay dearly for that missed Final Smash.

*Falco gets his Final Smash when he returns and hits Greninja with it for the KO. A Smash Ball appears, and Incineroar gets it. He slams Falco with it for the KO. Then Greninja gets his Final Smash and nails Fox with it for another KO in short order. Falco and Incineroar fight off the stage for a bit, and Falco uses his up-B to kamikaze KO Incineroar and himself at the same time*

Crono: That was a bold move by Falco, but he made sure Incineroar went down with him.

*Fox gets his Final Smash and hits Incineroar with it for good damage but no KO. The four fight off the left side of the stage for a while, and then Greninja KOs Fox and Incineroar KOs Falco back to back as Incineroar gets his Final Smash again, but this time, he misses. Fox nails Greninja with his side-smash for the KO as Falco gets his Final Smash, shooting down Incineroar for a KO with 20 seconds remaining*

Sephiroth: Greninja and Incineroar win, +1 to -1! That was an intense back and forth fight. I had no clue who was going to win that one!

Crono: All four characters were fairly close in terms of their damage dealt and received individually. Incineroar was probably the MVP, dealing the most damage and getting the most KOs, but there wasnt an obvious standout here, positively or negatively.

i still haven't heard an actual interesting and nuanced take on why the way that he dies is problematic that doesn't involve some level of "I like Joel"

I'm pretty sure both ctes and I have both given reasons as people who don't like Joel that much so either you missed them or you're ignoring them. As I said before, you don't have to like Joel to have an issue with how the game approaches it.

Match 2: Mewtwo/Lucario vs. Simon Belmont/Richter Belmont

Sephiroth: Weve got a couple of skilled monster hunters trying to capture a couple of PoKemon, but will they succeed?

*The Belmonts take the early advantage in percentage as the Pokemon have a hard time dodging their attacks. Simon hits Mewtwo with his dashing attack for a quick KO as a Smash Ball appears. Richter nearly KOs Lucario as they fight over it. Eventually, Mewtwo gets it and immediately uses his Final Smash to instantly KO Simon, while Richter doesnt get instantly KOd but fails to get back to the stage due to being driven so far out*

Crono: Wow, Mewtwo quickly turned things around with that Final Smash after a rough start.

*Richter comes back and nails Lucario with his axe for a KO. Simon gets his Final Smash and catches both Pokemon with it, KOing Mewtwo and hitting Lucario for good damage. This results in Lucario getting his Final Smash as well, and he uses it to hit both Belmonts hard, but their percentages are too low for a KO. Then Richter gets his Final Smash but uses it when no one is close by, so it fails. Mewtwo knocks Simon out too far to recover for a KO*

Sephiroth: There doesnt appear to be a clear favorite at this point in the match as all four characters just keep beating the crap out of each other.

*Richter hits Lucario with his side-air for a KO. However, Lucario quickly returns the favor by hitting Richter off the side and following it up with an attack that prevents him from getting back to the stage for a revenge KO. Mewtwo gets his Final Smash and hits Richter beyond recovery for a KO, right as Lucario does the same to Simon*

Crono: The Pokemon are working well together!

*Richter hits Mewtwo with his axe but cant quite KO him. A Smash Ball appears right as Richter gets the KO on Mewtwo for real. Simon gets his Final Smash but cant hit anyone with it. Mewtwo grabs the Smash Ball but completely misses. Lucario gets his Final Smash and blasts Richter with it for a KO. Richter hits Lucario with his down-B and follows it up with a side-smash for the revenge KO*

Sephiroth: A lot of narrow misses with those Final Smashes. That could come back to haunt them.

*Simon hits Mewtwo with his whip for a KO. Richter gets his Final Smash and snags Lucario with it for a KO with 30 seconds remaining. Mewtwo knocks Simon off the side and hits him with a follow up attack for good measure to ensure the KO*

Crono: That turned out to be an important KO because

*Its Super Sudden Death! Mewtwo hits Richter immediately to KO him. Then a couple seconds later, he hits Simon to finish the match*

Sephiroth: Mewtwo and Lucario win! Lucario is proving tough to beat in any format.

Crono: Lucario didnt have a lot to do with it, as he dealt by far the least amount of damage, and Mewtwo registered two more KOs, including the one that sent the match to sudden death. All four characters were KOd four times. Richter dealt out exactly the same percentage of damage that he received.

Match 1: Solid Snake/Sonic the Hedgehog vs. Captain Olimar/Alph

Sephiroth: Snake and Sonic have both struggled individually, but can they work well as a team? This is the only format in which we get to see Alph, so hopefully he can make the most of it!

*Olimar and Alph get off to a hot start with their Pikmin. Olimar is able to knock Snake out too far from the stage, and he botches his recovery for an early KO. Olimar and Alph prove to be too slippery for either Snake or Sonic to land a critical hit on them in the early going, but Snake eventually blasts Alph with his up-smash to KO him*

Crono: Olimar and Alph are showing that size doesnt always matter out there!

*Snake and Sonic keep trying to knock Olimar and Alph off and below the stage for KOs, but they keep getting back each time. Snake gets his Final Smash and uses it immediately to KO Olimar. Alph gets his Final Smash as well and wastes no time using it either, dealing good damage but failing to KO either opponent. Then Olimar follows it up with his own Final Smash, but still no KO. To complete the round of Final Smashes, Sonic gets his and immediately uses it to KO both Olimar and Alph*

Sephiroth: Super Sonic is so tough to deal with, so there wasnt much they could do there.

*Olimar and Alph try to KO Snake and Sonic since they are both at high percentages. Olimar nearly blows Snake away with one of his Pikmin, but he manages to get back. A Smash Ball appears, and in the ensuing fight over it, Olimar nails Snake with his side-smash for the KO. However, Snake is able to grab the Smash Ball when he gets back and immediately uses his Final Smash again, this time tracking down Alph as Sonic knocks him up into the air to blast him off the screen for a KO*

Crono: Snake and Sonic showing some good teamwork on that knockout!

*Alph gets his Final Smash and immediately uses it, but it doesnt KO anyone. Sonic hits Olimar with his up-air and nearly KOs him. Then Snake hits him with an explosive and Olimar still hangs on. Then Olimar hits Sonic with a heavy Pikmin to KO him for the first time 3 and a half minutes into the match at 200%. Olimar gets his Final Smash and uses it immediately, KOing Snake with the final hit*

Sephiroth: Wow, hard to believe it took that long for Sonic to get knocked out for the first time.

*A Smash Ball appears, and Snake gets it again. He wastes no time using his Final Smash and KOs Alph, while Sonic simultaneously KOs Olimar at 200% with an up-smash with 35 seconds remaining. Sonic gets his Final Smash with 15 seconds remaining and mostly uses it to stall for time as he knocks Olimar and Alph around for a bit. However, Olimar is still able to hit Snake with an up-smash literally a second before time expires*

Sephiroth: Snake and Sonic win, +2 to -2!Looks like the Noble Nine does better as a team than as individual fighters!

Crono: Sonic only taking one KO for the entire fight made a huge difference. Olimar basically had to carry the team by himself, as he got 5 KOs (the most of anyone), while Alph didnt register a single one.

Match 5: Young Link vs. Isabelle

Sephiroth: Isabelle shocked a lot of people by taking down a powerhouse from the Brawl Fighting League in Meta Knight. Will she be able to put up a repeat performance?

*Isabelle starts off by knocking Young Link in the air and following it up with a flurry of attacks for quick damage. Young Link starts connecting with his specials to slowly get back into the match. Isabelle nearly sends Young Link off the top of the screen with her explosive down-B, but he hangs on. He hits her with a few explosives of his own, but then Isabelle grabs him and throws him off the screen for the KO (Isabelle 3-2)*

Crono: Theres a lot of firepower in the early going here!

*Young Link keeps chucking bombs with reckless abandon and building up damage. He hits Isabelle with his up-air and nearly KOs her, but she survives. Young Link connects with his side-air and nearly KOs her again but not quite. He finally hits Isabelle with a side attack to KO her for real this time (2-2)*

Sephiroth: Young Links persistence pays off with a strong KO.

*A Smash Ball appears and Young Link gets it. Isabelle tries hard to knock it out of him and nearly sends him beyond recovery. However, he gets back to the stage and hits her with the Final Smash for another KO (Young Link 2-1)*

Crono: And now Young Link takes the lead! Can he maintain his momentum here?

*Isabelle tries to go for the KO and racks up damage, but Young Link stays in and keep pelting her with bombs. Eventually, shes able to hit him with her up-air to KO him (1-1)*

Sephiroth: Isabelle isnt letting Young Links offensive barrage stop her.

*Despite the percentage advantage, Young Link struggles to get Isabelle close to a KO, and she gradually starts evening up the fight. Young Link nails her with a side-smash to launch her, but she hangs on. A Smash Ball appears, and Isabelle gets it. She sends Young Link flying with her down-B and keeps throwing him instead of using the Final Smash. Young Link nails her with his up-B, but she wont let go of the Smash Ball. Eventually, she deflects one of his bombs back at him, and she uses that as the moment to hit him with her Final Smash and win the match (Isabelle wins, 1-0)*

Sephiroth: Isabelle wins! I thought Isabelle was going to let that Final Smash completely go to waste, but she used it at the right time for maximum drama.

Crono: Isabelle was an offensive machine, dealing over 500% of damage. Young Link did a good job of tanking that damage and staying in the match, but it just wasnt quite enough.

Match 4: Mewtwo vs. Pikachu

Sephiroth: Weve got a Pokemon battle on our hands, as Pikachu looks to continue his hot streak against Mewtwo.

*Pikachu takes an early advantage as Mewtwo struggles to land attacks. Pikachu knocks Mewtwo off the side and repeatedly tries to send him below the stage, but Mewtwo refuses to get KOd. Mewtwo is able to get his offense going at last and they both get up to 100% damage. Then Pikachu gets Mewtwo up into the air and keeps following it up. As a Smash Ball drops onto the stage, Pikachu hits Mewtwo with a side-smash as he lands for the KO (Pikachu 3-2)*

Crono: Oh, what a shot by Pikachu to take the early lead!

*Before Pikachu can get the Smash Ball, Mewtwo charges in and knocks Pikachu away with a dashing attack and snags it for himself. As Pikachu falls back to the stage, Mewtwo crushes him with his Final Smash for the KO (2-2)*

Sephiroth: It doesnt take long for Mewtwo to get things back on a level playing field.

*Pikachu returns with a furious barrage of attacks, keeping Mewtwo from counterattacking, and then he nails him with a meteor strike to KO him at 65% without taking any damage (Pikachu 2-1)*

Crono: That was a heck of an offensive surge by Pikachu there. Mewtwo was completely flummoxed by him.

*Pikachus speed continues to be a problem for Mewtwo as he cant get anything going. Then Pikachu knocks Mewtwo into the air with an up-smash, and as he drops down back to the ground, Pikachu fries Mewtwo with his down-B for an electrifying KO to win the match (Pikachu wins, 2-0)*

Sephiroth: Pikachu wins! Looks like Mewtwo was a fraud after all!

Crono: Pikachus offensive efficiency was breathtaking to watch as he hit 50% of his attacks, while Mewtwo only connected with 28% of his. Mewtwo couldnt ever get comfortable out there.

Match 3: Bayonetta vs. Greninja

Sephiroth: Greninja looked good in the first round of the tournament. Can the Pokemon keep advancing in the tournament?

*Greninja takes an early advantage in percentage, but Bayonetta claws back in it. She knocks Greninja away and then clobbers him with her side-smash for an early KO at only 80% (Bayonetta 3-2)*

Crono: Wow, Bayonetta working quickly!

*Bayonetta stays on the attack when Greninja returns and he cant seem to get anything going until he punishes her side-smash. Then he follows it with an up-smash to KO her (2-2)*

Sephiroth: Sometimes even when you dont have it, just keep plucking away until you find it! Greninja might have turned the match in his favor there.

*Bayonetta keeps on attacking Greninja persistently and nearly KOs him nearly by launching him off the side and hitting him with her projectiles, but he narrowly manages to get back to the stage in time. However, she crushes him with another side-smash to KO him again (Bayonetta 2-1)*

Crono: Ouch, Greninja has no answer for that attack thus far.

*A Smash Ball appears and Greninja grabs it. He cant seem to find the right time to use it, but Bayonetta cant knock it out of him either. She knocks him off the stage and tries to follow up with another attack when he catches her with his Final Smash for the KO (1-1)*

Sephiroth: Wow, I was beginning to wonder if he was ever going to use it!

*Bayonetta keeps unleashing her smash attacks on Greninja in hopes of ending the match. She nearly does with her up-smash, but he survives. Then she almost eliminates him again with her side-smash. Greninja cant seem to get any offense going, and Bayonetta launches him with a side-smash again. Then she follows it up with her projectile to KO Greninja and end the match (Bayonetta wins, 1-0)*

Sephiroth: Bayonetta wins! Her combination of power and grace was almost captivating.

Crono: This was a strange match because 5 of the 6 KOs came at relatively low percentages of 115% or less. Only Greninjas last KO came at 145%, so I cant tell if this was good offense or bad defense.

Match 2: Princess Peach vs. Rosalina & Luma

Sephiroth: We saw Rosalina beat Daisy in the first round here and then beat Peach and Daisy in the tag team tournament. Can Peach get her revenge?

*Rosalina takes the early advantage, but Peach is undeterred and stays on the offensive. Rosalina starts launching Peach with strong attacks, but Peach gets rid of Luma with her side-B to limit Rosalinas range. When Luma returns, Rosalina nails Peach with her up-smash to KO her at 150% (Rosalina 3-2)*

Crono: Not the start Peach was hoping for, but shes fighting hard out there.

*Peach goes for the quick KO, launching Rosalina a couple of times with her side-B, but she cant finish the job. As such, Rosalina is able to start building up Peachs damage, and then she blasts her with her side-smash to KO Peach at only 80% (Rosalina 3-1)*

Sephiroth: It looks like history is going to repeat itself!

*Once again, Peach tries to KO her quickly with her side-B and then her up-air, but Rosalina just refuses to get knocked out. A Smash Ball appears, and Peach finally KOs Rosalina as she goes for it at 180% (Rosalina 2-1)*

Crono: Peach really needed that KO to come a lot sooner.

*Peach grabs the Smash Ball and uses her Final Smash but doesnt really take advantage of it. Rosalina starts racking up damage again, but Peach is able to get rid of Luma for a little while again. Rosalina takes the fight off the stage and looks like shes about to finish her off, but Peach gets back on the stage and hits Rosalina with her up-attack to launch her. Rosalina tries to hit her with a strong attack, but Peach uses her down-B to deflect it and nearly KOs her. Rosalina throws Peach off the side and nearly ends the match as a Smash Ball appears. This time, Rosalina gets it and uses her Final Smash to get the final KO (Rosalina wins, 2-0)*

Sephiroth: Rosalina & Luma wins! Shes looking to be the queen of the princesses based on her performances so far.

Crono: Despite losing by two stocks, I gotta admit I was a little impressed with Peach here. She never backed down and kept fighting hard until the end. She just couldnt quite get a KO when she really needed it.

Lightweight Tournament

Match 1: Captain Olimar vs. Little Mac

Sephiroth: Both of these characters have had some unexpected success so far, but one of them has to lose today!

*Little Mac has a hard time handling Olimars Pikmin in the early going due to his slower speed. Mac is still able to land some powerful blows of his own, but Olimar rocks him up his up-smash and nearly KOs him. Little Mac tries to blast him with his side-smash, but Olimar survives it. He follows it up with a dashing attack to land the KO this time (Little Mac 3-2)*

Crono: Little Mac proving he doesnt have a glass jaw and can take some punishment!

*Olimar pounds Little Mac with his Pikmin and knocks him off the stage. Little Mac is about to recover, but Olimar hits him with a red Pikmin to knock him back beyond recovery (2-2)*

Sephiroth: I will always approve of fiery deaths, hahaha!

*The two fighters pound each other hard with strong attacks as a Smash Ball drops right into the middle of the stage. Olimar claims it and uses his Final Smash right away to do good damage, but Little Mac stays alive. Little Mac goes for the KO punch but misses, and then Olimar punishes him by launching him with one of his Pikmin. He follows it up with a side-air as Little Mac tries to recover to KO him (Olimar 2-1)*

Crono: Olimar is taking advantage of Little Macs weaknesses really well today.

*Little Mac tries to size up Olimar for the KO, but he does a good job of keeping his distance and battering him with his Pikmin. Little Mac hits Olimar hard but cant quite KO him. Then Olimar comes back and keeps Little Mac in the air with repeated up-airs. Little Mac gets back to the ground and hits Olimar with a couple of attacks. Then he blocks Olimars attack and blasts him with his side-smash for the KO (1-1)*

Sephiroth: Little Mac is really going to need that underdog boost at this point!

*Little Mac is already at 120% when Olimar returns, but he tries to be aggressive to even things up. Olimar pelts him with more Pikmin, and then he grabs him and throws him off the stage beyond recovery to end the match (Olimar wins, 1-0)*

Sephiroth: Captain Olimar wins! Olimar plays keep away very effectively to play to his strengths.

Crono: Little Mac did a good job last time of minimizing his weaknesses, but Olimar exploited his lack of reach and jumping ability to get the win. He racked up 400% of damage to only 240% for Little Mac.
