The quality of an arc in SAO is (approximately) inversely proportional to how much screen time Kirito has in the arc. The less Kirito there is, the more enjoyable the arc. The only exception to the rule is Ordinal Scale, which had a lot of Kirito but was still pretty good because it toned down Kirito's overpoweredness (due to him having to adjust his real-life body to AR rather than just already being a god in VR) and over-the-top attitude.

I'm playing through Trails of Cold Steel 2 atm and the way Rean is treated is more to my liking. Still can be pretty powerful but gets his ass whooped all the time and loses

It's good, especially if you're into the history of the period and the arms and armor, but you NEED to patch it or it's damn near unplayable. It's buggy and also janky
