Thanks man! It's actually surprisingly easy to get into. There's a lot of free resources out there and even some sites that have heavy communities focused on it. And cool! I'll definitely subscribe, I love how a lot of pro VAs actually take a lot of time to help out the newbies.

Yeah it's crazy a lot of people think it's just having a good voice/being able to do impressions, but there's really a lot of intricacy to it and there's something for every voice type you just have to figure out what fits your own style ya know?

Haha funnily enough the Galaxy games are my least favorite of the big 5 3D Mario games. Probably for that reason as well! I guess it just comes down to preference.

Yeah the attic is absolutely the worst.

Most of the other levels have designs that actually make them feel like areas that exist in this world. TTC and Rainbow Ride have cool concepts, but they're both just like oh yeah here's a bunch of abstract floating objects for you to jump on.

Sure, but take that Gyarados for example (used by Lance). It has Intimidate, so if you're starting with a physical attacker, you're already out. It's got a decently high Sp Def, but also a good amount of resistances due to its typing, especially if you don't have an Electric type (move). So if you're switching or just trying to whittle it down, it can use Dragon Dance to boost it stats AND it has Waterfall, an 80 power Physical water move running off of its already sky-high attack.

Fighting a Gyarados is much easier pre Gen IV.

I mean yeah you're right, but I think difficulty is something Pokemon kinda needs. Gens 1 and 2 are heavily reliant on just type/stat matchups and once you figure that out the games become a cakewalk.

Gens 3-5 however gradually added on more ways to strategize and different ways to train your Pokemon.

Using your Gyarados example, you don't need an Electric type attack. There's a bunch of different abilities that counter stat changes, you can always use status effects, Sturdy/Endeavor combo, activating Sunny Day to weaken Waterfall, there's stalling it out etc.

It's definitely interesting hearing this mix of opinions. I always thought GSC was the definitive B8 favorite. But it seems a lot more split.

Okay I can definitely get that. I do love the lore of the Johto games and can see how this sort of has an Animal Crossing vibe to it, since it helps connect with the real world, even if that doesn't appeal to me personally.

I think I'd be less upset about the postgame mons if they had more options for the main game.

I very much wanted to use Houndoom and Octillery and when I realized I couldn't, I sort of saw how few options there are. Most of them are either babies, have no evolutions and/or bad stats or are trade evolutions.

Yeah I enjoyed HG decently. The pacing was a little better and they fixed a lot of issues with the Pokemon. I just don't understand their mentality with a lot of these mechanics.

Like I was originally going to use Donphan on my team, but the combination of Phanpy being a low encounter rate exclusive to the morning that also flees super easily made me give up on it. Like I'm also using Heracross and Bellossom, both of which are nearly impossible without guides.

I really don't get the hype, the pacing is pretty garbage and I'm really not a fan of how they handle the new Pokemon.

Like adding time mechanics, held items and breeding is cool as the franchise needed them in the long run. Plus fixing a lot of RBY's issues is nice, but I'm really not having fun with it the same way I have all the other games.

This is getting absurd. NYPD has thousands or tens of thousands of officers because of the large population; of course there are going to be bad things that happen there. If every individual officer who disapproved of some of those things quit NY would be left without police or with only bad police. The only way to fix that would be to divide NYC into many smaller cities, each with their own police department. Then some could be good simply by virtue of statistics.

Okay but why argue about it? People are gonna use phrases you don't like and disagree with. We're all on the same side, there's no sense in bickering over semantics. The important thing is just supporting the cause.

I haven't read most of this topic but I 100% agree that "all cops are bad" is an incorrect way to communicate what a large portion (not all) of the people saying that actually mean. Many people I think are trying to say that the police system is bad which is obviously not what they are actually saying.

I was actually discussing this with my friend earlier. I think the whole movement sort of has that sort of issue. Which is how All Lives Matter got started. It was a result of people not understanding what was going on. It was not communicated/taught very well at all, but I do think people are starting to understand now.

This is essentially how I feel, however if people want to say it, I'm not going to argue with it. I just won't use the phrase myself. Playing semantics with people just to distract from the issue, which is still the Police as a whole.

The camera's rough and sometimes the platforming is a little wonky at times but it's still a blast.

Also can we just talk about how well Banjo-Kazooie has aged. Like for a 'Mario 64 ripoff' it's definitely more playable nowadays.

Not only is there a huge difference between making mistakes and savagely beating/outright killing innocent people

But the only reason Hank and Hoyt are the heroes is because they're up against characters specifically written to be worse people by a very large margin.

So I entered this topic to talk about one of my Facebook friends' believing in public execution of all four of the cops responsible for Floyd's death. (Who's also a hardcore Republican that believes in the use of the N-word)

And here's Corrik posting about fictional cops and their morality in comparison to the current situation. I honestly don't know which is worse.

Edit: Sidenote, I rewatched The Departed last night, such a great movie and is pretty topical, I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it yet

Well I use schools as an analogy. Sort of like how schools cut funding for extracurricular activities and give teachers low wages/just firing them. There's nothing stopping the police from just cutting beneficial programs and better training, so they can continue to buy riot gear and keep their current wages.

Well I don't think they should increase wages either. In terms of police pay, I think the higher ups should have their wages be directly tied to the number of deaths/instances of police brutality. Combine this with charging officers with wrongful death and readily available body cams as well as police reports. That way the higher ups have more incentive to control their officers (which is a really sad thing to type out) and the regular officers are held accountable.

Cutting pay for regular officers won't get them to quit. They spent a ton of money and time to become police officers. They're not going to go back to college or work minimum wage. So they'll likely just accept the lower pay and keep doing terrible jobs.

In theory, sure. But based off what I've seen from schools as well as my old job, I don't think it's effective for two reasons.

1. The police already aren't doing their jobs correctly. So we're going to make it harder to properly train them? Because I guarantee that's where budget cuts are going to go.

2. Salary cuts also results in them doing worse jobs. From what I've learned people don't quit their jobs when you take away money, they just do their jobs worse.

The biggest focus should be on the Justice system as well as making sure specific practices are met with prosecution.
