Why are PS4 and Xbone split?

People have actually been requesting for years that cross-platform games have a single board instead of 4-5 different ones. With the number of people using this site consistently dwindling it's an idea that's gained more merit as time has gone on but the Admins will never redesign the site like that.

The reason I mentioned Android and iOS specifically is because there's even less of a difference there than the consoles.

And it just causes stupid things to happen anyways. For example, the board for the iOS "version" of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is a wasteland and everyone just uses the one for the Android "version" instead.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/trump-syria-oil-war-crime-isis-assad-fox-news-a9279381.html

Donald Trump has renewed his threats to forcibly steal oil from Syria, a move which experts say would amount to a war crime.

The president defended his decision to leave a small number of American troops in the war-torn nation after a general withdrawal in October by claiming they were only there to secure Syrias oilfields.

They say he left troops in Syria... do you know what I did? I took the oil, he said during a Fox News interview.

The only troops I have are taking the oil, they are protecting the oil.

When the interviewer, Laura Ingraham, attempted to correct Mr Trump by insisting the soldiers were not there to take the oil but to guard the facilities, the president cut her off.

I dont know, maybe we should take it, but we have the oil. Right now, the United States has the oil. We have the oil.

This is not the first time the erratic former business tycoon has publicly mused about stealing Syrias oil reserves.

In October, shortly after his abrupt withdrawal of US forces and abandoning of their Kurdish allies in the region, Mr Trump said he wanted an American oil firm to fly in to tap Syrias oil on behalf of the government.

What I intend to do, perhaps, is make a deal with an ExxonMobil or one of our great companies to go in there and do it properly, he said.

However, such a move would likely constitute pillage and looting, actions which have long been designated as illegal under international law and the rules of war.

The Geneva Convention, which the US is a signatory to, explicitly prohibits the looting of property during conflict, defining it as a war crime.

The president appears to believe that the US can sell the oil, based on his statements in the past about Iraqi oil and Libyan oil ... thinking that we can loot countries, Benjamin Friedman, policy director at think tank Defence Priorities and adjunct professor at the George Washington University, told The Independent last year.

I am sure people in the White House have tried to explain to him that is not how it works.

Taking the profits from the sale of Syrian oil for the US treasury would be illegal. That would probably qualify as pillaging under the law.

Ironically, experts say Syrias oil fields are not much of a prize anyway. Even before the country descended in a chaotic civil war, it only produced about 380,000 barrels of poor-quality oil a day.

In 2018, after its production was several hampered by the conflict, it produced about the same amount of oil as the state of Illinois.

Before he entered the White House, Mr Trump had said several times that the US should have taken the oil from the other Middle Eastern nations its armed forces had intervened in, including Iraq and Libya.

Some commentators have speculated that defence officials desperate to persuade the president to permit some US forces to remain in Syria as a counter-balance to Isis and the Assad regime were forced to appeal to his oil obsession to gain his approval.

Also reminder Steve King was too overtly racist even for the GOP

https://www.politico.com/story/2019/01/14/bobby-rush-censure-steve-king-racist-1099484

House GOP leaders moved to strip embattled Rep. Steve King from his committee assignments on Monday, part of wave of congressional action over recent racist comments by the Iowa Republican.

King will lose his seat on three panels, including the Judiciary Committee for which he served as chairman of the Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice.

Senior Republicans, including McCarthy and Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) as well as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) have decried the comments. One senator, Mitt Romney of Utah, said King should resign the House seat he's held since 2002.

Steves remarks are beneath the dignity of the party of Lincoln and the United States of America," McCarthy said in a statement. "His comments call into question whether he will treat all Americans equally, without regard for race and ethnicity. House Republicans are clear: We are all in this together, as fellow citizens equal before God and the law. As Congressman Kings fellow citizens, let us hope and pray earnestly that this action will lead to greater reflection and ultimately change on his part.

Racist Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) whined that journalists who have pointed out his white nationalist beliefs have made up the term to smear him.

[White nationalist] is a weaponized term created by the left to attack conservatives with, King said on the House floor Friday. Its one of their weaponized terms because they wore out the word racist and they needed to make up some new terms to be offended by.

King, a virulent white supremacist, held up a graph apparently showing that the term white nationalism spiked following the 2016 presidential election.

How did it happen that a terminology that had been virtually unused all of a sudden became used multiple times up to 30,000 times a year? How did it happen that this is the word that gets tagged on me? Is that an accident, Mr. Speaker? I dont think so.

Its not an accident. Its a term that has been used to describe King because its accurate. King unsurprisingly claimed billionaire philanthropist George Soros was behind it all a common anti-Semitic tactic among racists who need someone to blame suggesting Soros backed a meeting of Democratic leaders after the election to find ways to smear racists like King.

The resistance movement was born in that hotel by Democrat leadership led by George Soros and no doubt funded by George Soros, King said. Out of that also came some words to be weaponized: white nationalist, white supremacist, Nazi, fascist.

In 2018, King went full white nationalist when he traveled to Austria for an extensive interview with far-right Austrian propagandist Caroline Sommerfeld in which he made his beliefs crystal clear. More from HuffPosts October 2018 story:

The interview, published in September, came to HuffPosts attention this week. In his conversation with Sommerfeld, King discussed his belief in the superiority of European culture over others. He talked fearfully of falling fertility rates in the West and spoke at length about his belief that Europe and America are threatened by Muslim and Latino immigration.

If we dont defend Western civilization, then we will become subjugated by the people who are the enemies of faith, the enemies of justice, King said.

The interview is remarkable, capturing a sitting U.S. congressman completely fluent in modern white nationalist talking points just weeks before an election he is favored to win.

He also falsely claimed in that interview that Soros is footing the bill for The Great Replacement, a paranoid talking point for white supremacists in which they imagine their white European culture being taken over by immigrants.

And last year, King defended being a white supremacist by questioning when the very term white supremacist became offensive.

White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization how did that language become offensive? he told The New York Times. Why did I sit in classes teaching me about the merits of our history and our civilization?

He later posted a tweet clarifying that he sees himself simply as a Nationalist. Too bad for him, almost everyone else sees him for the man he is: a white nationalist.

TopicVulture feces disrupting CBP communications on US-Mexico border

01/10/20 10:10:51 PM

https://qz.com/1783287/vulture-feces-disrupting-cbp-communications-on-us-mexico-border

A US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) radio tower near the Texas-Mexico border has become home to some 300 vultures, which have coated the structures entire surface, both inside and out, as well as the ground below, in droppings mixed with urine, according to a request for information the agency issued to vendors this week.

A smoothly-functioning communications network is essential for CBP officers to do their jobs. The agencies under the aegis of the Department of Homeland Security, of which CBP is one, have suffered from radio problems in the past.

The birds in the Texas tower have been roosting there for more than six years, a CBP spokesperson told Quartz, adding, They will often defecate and vomit from their roost onto buildings below that house employees and equipment. There are anecdotes about birds dropping prey from a height of 300 feet, creating a terrifying and dangerous situation for those concerned.

As a defense, vultures regurgitate a reeking and corrosive vomit, explains a factsheet from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). This kills bacteria on the birds legs, but also eats away at the metal in radio towers, reducing the life of the structure and making it unsafe for the maintenance workers who climb it. Vulture droppings can also carry a range of diseases such as histoplasmosis, salmonella, and encephalitis.

Large groups of vultures smell like a thousand rotting corpses, one homeowner told a reporter last August after a vulture colony set up shop at a South Florida country club, forcing the family from their $700,000 vacation home.

The scavenging species feeds mostly on carrion, and undigested fur and bones are commonly found at the base of communications towers within which vultures roost. Black vultures in particular have been known to disembowel and kill young or sick livestock.

Although black vultures have killed calves up to several days old, they are often attracted by and feed on placentas before damaging a newborn calf or lamb, according to the USDAs Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service. The scent of afterbirth can attract vultures from great distances.

One solution would be to kill one or more of the vulture flock, which is known as a kettle. According to AGL, a trade magazine for cell tower operators, vultures wont congregate in an area where one of their own has been injured or killed.

But the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, which was first enacted in 1918, prohibits the killing of vultures, and violators can be fined up to $200,000 and receive up to a year in federal prison.

Other available solutions include hanging a freeze-dried vulture carcass or taxidermic effigy from a tower, which can reduce roosts 93% to 100% within nine days. UV-rated urethane replica carcasses are also commonly used, and dont decay like dead birds do.

The intelligently designed and precisely engineered large vulture effigies hang in the head-down position to mimic a struggling or dead black vulture, according to the AGL.

Fireworks have also been used to scare vultures away from towers, but make a lot of noise. CBP, however, is seeking minimal visual and sonic impact to the surrounding area. So the agency is looking for a viable netting deterrent to prevent vultures from roosting in its radio towers.

CBPs Office of Information Technology has been working closely with several agencies including Fish and Wildlife, the USDA, environmental experts and the Texas State Historical Preservation Officer, to determine a good path toward a solution that will deter the vultures from roosting atop our towers while ensuring no harm to the birds, the spokesperson said. Research has shown that netting has proven to be a viable deterrent by restricting the birds from being able to initiate roost.

There are no nests, or baby birds in the affected tower, according to CBP.

Installation of the netting will begin after the tower is cleaned and repaired, the CBP solicitation says. It expects the nets to be in place by August, before the natural heavy vulture roosting period during the fall months.

https://www.metrotimes.com/news- hits/archives/2020/01/10/triggered-trumpers- call-for-violence-against-michigan-democrats-and-muslims-in-vile-facebook-page

An anti-Gov. Gretchen Whitmer group on Facebook devolved into a vile platform that promoted violence against Democrats and Muslims and churned out degrading comments about women.

But on Friday afternoon, the group's creator deactivated the page in response to questions from Metro Times.

The public group, People vs Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, was rapidly growing, attracting nearly 9,000 conservatives of all kinds elected officials, veterans, firefighters, law enforcement officers, educators, pastors, business owners, political candidates, militia members, blue-collar workers, and your garden variety trolls.

Metro Times identified dozens of recent posts promoting or threatening violence, primarily against Whitmer, U.S. Reps. Rashida Tlaib and Elissa Slotkin, American Muslims, and Dearborn. Hundreds of comments were posted each day, and many included vulgar insults against women, Muslims, Democrats, and LGTBQ+ communities.

Tlaib, who is a Muslim American from Detroit, was a common target of the vitriol.

She needs a bullet between her eyes, Spencer Hayward wrote.

These are just a few examples of the hostile comments that fill the grammar-challenged page every day.

We overflood them with imminent death threats, until it stops, one way or another, Michael Dearing explained to the group.

The creator of the page, Charlie Gillett, admits the group has spun out of control and told Metro Times he shut down the page to avoid repercussions at his job as a machine tool electrician in Sterling Heights if his identity is revealed in this story. (Hes listed publicly as the administrator and creator of the page on Facebook.)

But Gillett had done little, if anything, to stop the threats and posts promoting violence, and blamed the anger on Democrats.

People promote violence I can't do anything to stop them. I can block them, ban them, report them but don't matter, Gillett told Metro Times in a statement. Do I agree with it. Some of it no some of it yes. Do I think it gets to far yes most definitely. But for it to stop id have to shut the group down. Then where would people be able to have their voices be heard. Everyone has opinions and not everyone agrees with everyone's point of view."

Joshua Doan, who was the groups co-administrator, told Metro Times he was recruited by Gillett to help launch the page and regrets getting involved. He said he wasn't monitoring the page closely because his primary role was to get the page started.

I do not support or align with those people in the group, Doan said. The only reason I am an admin is to clean it up. I may not be doing the best job. But I am doing the best I can with the time I have. The group is not a very big focus point in my life.

On Thursday evening, Doan alerted the group that he would remove racist and threatening posts, which incensed group members.

Where can I join a militia? Stacie Rose Laesch responded.

A member provided an email address.

By Friday morning, Doan said Gillett removed him as an administrator, giving him no control to delete threats as they continued to stream in.

Its so awful, Doan told Metro Times. These people are so scared and uneducated.

Created in March 2019, the group was intended to stand up against Whitmer, arguing shes tanking our economy and ruining small business. But as more people joined and shared deceptive memes and propaganda masquerading as news, the tone of the page became more sinister, conspiratorial, and hateful.

One story from the conservative site Outraged Patriot falsely suggested Slotkin admits her full allegiance to Qassam Soleimani, the Iranian general who was killed in a U.S. airstrike.

Member Merek Smith suggested Slotkin should be burned and raped.

Off with her head, wrote Joe Hackett, whose main Facebook image is a handgun.

She needs to be hung in the streets for treason, Mike Repke responded.

Many of the threats are very specific. More than a dozen members, for example, called for violence against Tlaib at an event that she was expected to attend this weekend in Livonia. (She is not attending the event.)

I hope someone is waiting for her a few hundred yards away with a scope ready to make that pink mist spray from her skull, Michael Buschert posted on Wednesday.

Dan Hester responded, we should hang out, i will train you..

Robert Heidorf chimed in, Dame like your thinking and many more in them cross hairs to.

Metro Times shared Buscherts comment with his employer, Pleasant Moose Lodge in Newberry, which fired him from his maintenance job this week.

I have relieved Mr. Buschert from his employment, as of this morning, Debra Singleton, the lodges general manager, told Metro Times on Thursday. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention.

Members also raised the specter of violence at the Iraqi Consulate in Southfield, where Muslims where gathering this week to mourn Iraqi victims of a recent U.S. bombing of an Iranian general and others.

This is the type of shit they should shoot up instead of churches lolol. Yeah I said it, Coterie Chapel wrote.

Nellie Snookie Detwiler responded, You say what many of us think but bit our tongues lol.

Danny Stray chimed in, Burn them and their mosques!

Lonnie E. Root agreed: Just kill them all.

Fred Thornell went even further: Fuck it blow them and Detroit up doesnt bother me none if we loose them both.

One of the groups members is state Sen. Peter Lucido, a Republican from Shelby Township who shared at least seven anti-Whitmer posts since Nov. 29. His office did not respond to Metro Times request for an interview.

Other members include at least three Republican congressional members, retired Livingston County Deputy Sheriff Dave Loar, Michigan GOP field director Kipp Welch II, and employees for the state of Michigan and numerous towns and cities.

One of the common themes of the group is sexism. Common names used to

where did i mention superior?

somebody posted:

and i gave him excellent reasoning as to why this isn't even close to the case.

Uh no, you literally only posted an article in response to that that only discusses how China's PC gaming population continues to grow (which no shit it would and does), and didn't even comment on it. That's not "excellent reasoning" it's borderline not doing anything.

Also the fucking funniest thing is that "PC enthusiast" literally describes China's gaming community to a T.

I pointed out that one of the reasons PC gaming is so popular is because China banned the sales of consoles from 2000 to 2015 (which encompassed two entire console generations and the beginnings of a third), so anyone who wanted to game either had to illegally acquire a console, buy a PC, or go to a PC Cafe.

Your response to that was this:

but if consoles are "so" great, the opposite should have happened and not keep growing and growing and growing.

Which of course straight up says you think PC gaming is superior, because your answer to your 'argument' here of "If the consoles are better, why does PC gaming keep growing?" is "Because PC gaming is superior, of course".

You're just ignoring literally everything that goes against your narrative and even others are calling you out for it, so you should really quit before you further continue to embarrass yourself.

So your argument is literally solely that because one country, where PC gaming got a 15-year head-start on console gaming, and the types of games and the specific games they like to play are far more readily available on PC than on consoles, and didn't immediately start massively adopting console gaming when it became available, then PC must be "superior" to console?

Okay.

Those links don't work since imgtc is down. And I've seen them for the most part

It just seemed like he surrounded himself with racists but I'm not familiar with racist things he himself said. I am curious about the "great replacement" rant though.
