We can estimate the annual loss of life from recurring illnesses and stuff like alcoholism, suicide, and traffic accidents. But we can't do that with something entirely new like this. And it's not even just the potential final mortality rate that should raise concern, since there are reports that it can cause permanent lung damage, too. People downplayed the Flu of 1918 and look what happened there. They did a good job of writing Lara's character and developing her throughout the story, the story felt like a simple, down-to-earth adventure, and really the only thing I thought was lacking was better developed puzzles. So I had high hopes for the series... was really disappointed when I got "Rise" and it was just a mash-up of awkward, obviously intentionally vague writing, a lack of character development and a reliance on Michael Bay scenes which were the only things I ever failed because I couldn't tell if the game was going to make me jump or just automatically jump for me half the time. Just kind of surreal... normally that shit has some dorky message on it, this one was just serious. It is interesting seeing how the different military branches are reacting. Navy cancelled its PT test for this cycle (which runs from January 1 to the end of June) and relaxed hair grooming standards and everything to encourage people to not spend more time outside than they have to. But then you have the Marines which are keeping their barbershops open and not really changing much. Even then there have been a lot of weird missteps. I read about the USS Boxer, where a crew member tested positive for the virus... and then the CO of the ship had all the officers and senior enlisted come together in a closed compartment to hold a meeting about what they're doing to prevent it. This might be a really dumb idea. I dont know Not a great idea at all - even "safe" stocks can take an unforeseeable amount of time to recover, and in the meantime they can become even worse. So you're putting someone else's money into something that could lose value and you might not be able to pay it back for a while. In the meantime, you're paying interest on the loan... Just safer to stay away from that. Invest what you feel comfortable investing with what cash you have on hand. Ultimately, you don't need a "massive amount" of money to start investing and reaping the benefits from it. You just need some money that you feel comfortable not having available for a while - in this case it could be several months to upwards of a year. And that's just if you plan on doing the basic "buy low, sell high" scheme - there are plenty of relatively safe ETFs and companies that pay decent dividends at higher rates compared to a traditional bank savings account.
