The RE2 remake actually accomplished being scary, something no other RE except RE7 had managed to pull off. If SH were done in the same style it could ratchet up all the good scary stuff SH had even more, because the production values would actually be able to keep up with the art direction this time. Graphics were always one of SH's weak points IMO, and the types of animation, lighting, modeling, etc they're capable of now, not to mention many more years of horror games to draw inspiration from would do quite a lot for it I think. Advanced lighting and shadow techniques would be way better than that ubiquitous fog too, but modern games are also capable of doing fog much better than games on the PS1 could. On PS1 it was a workaround for technical issues. On modern systems it would be an intentional part of the art direction. --- |

I find AC's worlds to be super detailed and interesting, and I have a tendency to finish AC games with only a vague idea of what the actual plot was. It's why I can sit here and praise Unity as one of my favorites in the series, because that game's version of Paris during the French Revolution was one of the most impressive settings I've seen in a game. I don't even play them like AC games, I favor strolling around the streets rather than parkouring across rooftops --- |
