You have to learn to decouple peoples so called political views from how they actually are as a person, which can be far different from what their political leanings would indicate, I have found this time and again to be true. Peoples political views generally function in a bubble separate from how they act and behave the rest of their life, whether they are kind, compassionate etc....

Politics functions as a team sport game to some people, and its not to be considered more seriously than that when it comes to defining their character.
