There are a lot of predictions that there will be. But right now, there isn't.

Same thing with pretty much everything about this virus. It's very light on "here are the bad things happening now" and very heavy on "here are the bad things that might happen eventually."

These are all under the assumption that mortality rates are high relative to how many people get tested. But, as with any major disease, they will drop dramatically once we get a better understanding of how many people are asymptomatic or have coronavirus without a positive test for it (and that is likely most people).

The Defense Production Act, enacted in 1950, allows the president to force American businesses to produce materials in the national defense, such as ventilators and medical supplies for health care workers. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., called on Trump this morning to use those authorities to address a shortage of medical supplies.
