HS Math Teacher here

I have a classroom set of 10 TI-84 Color Editions. I also require my students to have one of their own since that's not enough for everyone.

Yes they're overpriced. Yes I know about Desmos. It's great, it's fast, and does most of the graphing things the 84 does. However, Desmos isn't allowed on the ACT, so I teach my kids how to use the calc that's allowed. I encourage them to buy used if possible.

Casio calcs are much cheaper but they're also complicated to use in the dumbest way possible.

I encourage any calc student who wants to go into engineering to get the ti-89 instead.

Managed to beat the spare all bosses final boss... Ironically with turret girl. I did a run with her default stuff, some trinity things, mines, the standard shield 40 on cast, and... Time slow, misseltoe, as well as the spell that deals damage equal to your money. I never spent any. 1490 total, managed to completely decimate the boss without even needing to be saved by shield babe. Root to make it easier to hit her, nice. Her opening with that square attack sequence that's easy to dodge and she's completely still for? Oh hell yeah. :)

Great job! Did you spare or kill her?

Hexawan is kind of a weak brand of spells imo, but Hazel's default turret is very strong. I tend to only use that one with some support.

Yeah. Plus that 3 row ice attack, since each hit strikes with a delay between each other so it caused a full stack of frost every cast. I'm assuming flow boosts the next cast damage or something? Trinity as well?

The three-row ice attack has a nice quirk to it. If you cast in the top or bottom row, the third icicle spawns in front of you, so you can get two frost stacks on an enemy on the top/bottom. Or 4 if you have a doublecast.

Flow has different effects depending on the spell. Not all spells give flow, only some have special effects with it. However all spells consume flow on cast if there is any. There are some artifacts that give flow as well. The idea behind flow is to have a bigger deck of cards that "flow" with each other and build up stacks while consuming them for effects.

Trinity works differently and only gets consumed on the third stack. Only some cards/artifacts give trinity. Trinity is like charging a stronger attack by using other trinity spells as fuel. tri-shot, tri-rag, mana-shot, and minnie gun are my favorite trinity spells.

Glaives make short work of that boss for sure! especially with frost or doublecast upgrades.

You're "supposed" to die to Serif. You technically beat the game when you beat the Gate.

It is possible to kill her, but it takes a lot of luck and setup.

Anima for ice, the only good fire stuff is pkfire and the one that strikes an entire column 4 away. My favorite ice one is the one that shoots along 3 rows, when upgraded for double cast it can help clear rooms as well as make hitting bosses easier while dodging.

I think you're undervaluing fire a bit. Try out Combust with some upgrades ;)

But frost is very powerful for sure.

Oh, and that one phalanx cast spell for 40 shield. Upgraded twice is awesome. 2 mana to double cast and +20 shield. 80 shield for 2 mana, #winning, especially if you top deck it during a fight.

Phalanx is a great support focus! Just don't shuffle too much, you lose 40% of your shield every time you do. Especially don't shuffle during the dance phase for Violette.

I'm using smaller decks and now made it 3 times in a row to the world 6 boss. I'll find out what that means eventually, I hope.

Half of the struggle early on is learning the bosses as they get harder and harder.

I suggest Chronos Saffron to help with that.

Smaller decks are good, but are you picking cards that go well with each other? What focuses do you like? I tend to use convergence, anima, or glimmer as my "main" focus and build around one or two specific cards.

For example, tri-shot is a helluva card. Getting that trinity proc with all 3 shots does 540 damage before any upgrades. So I build around cards that give trinity if I pick up tri-shot.

Genesis Sonic was choppy from the start and I never felt any real improvement in 2 or 3&K.

Like Mario was rough on the NES. Not bad, but not as good as you might remember as a kid. Mario 3 comes around and improves on so much. It's a completely different game. Sonics 2 and 3 felt like DLC levels >_>
