The subject matter was of particular interest to me, since there aren't many WW1 movies... but this one was super accurate in terms of the conditions that soldiers faced. The early scene with them crossing No Man's Land was particularly chilling, as was the scene where he's floating down the river and runs into a natural dam that's piling up with decomposing bodies. It also didn't feel like a balls to the wall action war movie either, which I like. It was much more about the human element and the average soldier's experience. I think there were like between 5 and 10 Germans at most throughout the whole movie. |
