Trolling is a kind of joke. Just because you don't think something is funny doesn't mean it isn't meant to be humourous.

Now I'm not saying all trolling is meant to be humourous, some of it can be very mean spirited and that just makes the troll a fucking asshole.

A joke is funny if you find it funny, it has nothing to do with whether or not you're racist. I have had plenty of gays tell me gay jokes and PoC tell me derogatory jokes about their own races while exchanging jokes with them and making them laugh. You either have a sense of humour or you don't, and if you have a sense of humour that means you can hear a joke that you find offensive or over the line without getting upset.

But to answer your question racism is never funny, racial jokes are not racism though.

I say this as a father of two who is happily married. Most of the time people on this board are bitter as fuck towards women and the relationships posted here but you need to protect yourself. There is a very good chance that the kid is not yours. If the paternity test proves it is yours and you want to be a father you are going to have to fight hard to be its father because I can assure you the ex won't treat your kid like it's his so if you want your kid to have a father you're going to have to step up hard.

Yeah that's true. I was thinking mostly as long as I keep to this campaign as well as the two follow-ups, I don't think there is a return to Gnomengard there.

Never say never in D&D. If/when you move away from one shots you will have to come up with your own quests. You could have an NPC need something from there down the line forcing her to go back and with it being decimated she'll have to look for clues as to where they may have fled or it could become infested with monsters and is now a dungeon. There are limitless possibilities that you can do with this. D&D is all about the players actions and the consequences they can have on the world you built. Just make note of her actions and come up with possible things that may or may not spring up from them. That is one of the most important things with DMing a campaign.

We actually did have time to play today!

So gf started off with the Manticore quest, which in hindsight is pretty boring. It's essentially you arrive at the quest location, and the Manticore is already there trying to kill the person you wanna save. Then you either kill the monster or bribe it to go away, and that's it really. So she managed to make it go away by healing its wounds and giving it 10 days' worth of food. Pretty uninspiring.

Then off to the Gnome quest, which turned out to be quite difficult for a complete beginner. You traverse a network of caves with Gnomes in them, with a little bit of fighting and a little bit of persuasion. Then you find that the king has locked himself in because a Mimic is hiding about, eating the Gnomes one by one. He refuses to open until he's convinced the Mimic is dead. The player's objective there is actually just to bring back a magical item, so they can finish the quest any number of ways. Gf managed to (after some gentle nudging since she was stuck) trick the king into believing that a piece of rope was the Mimic corpse, and she got a Wand of Pyrotechnics as a reward. She's now contemplating if she should actually look for the Mimic at all or just go back. It's pretty tricky since I'm a new GM and not really used to new players who don't really know what they can do. We had to stop there so we'll see next time what she ends up doing. I'm advising her to try and think what her character would want to do (a chaotic neutral cleric). But it's a pretty fun quest, all in all. If I end up being a GM more often, I'll definitely reuse it.

As a DM, you have a couple of options. If she leaves the Mimic alive(which is likely what a chaotic neutral character would do, after all they got their reward) if she ever ends up going back to this gnome village she might find it completely devastated. Or you could have a gnome that knows she didnt kill the mimic follow her around seeking revenge, or possibly a gnome rogue sent by the king because they obviously will eventually find out that she didnt kill the mimic. Or any other possibilites that you can think of for consequences for the actions she took.

The good news is that there's honestly very little for the average citizen to "pay".

The first step is recognizing the system. That it exists, that white people benefit from it, even if they don't consciously know that they do.

After that, there's a few other simple things:

If you get those on lock, you're already doing pretty damn well for an average white citizen. There are of course the other usuals like volunteering your time and money to groups that combat racial inequality, and if you feel compelled to get involved, mores the better.

While I agree with everything said here, part of the issue, I believe exists, is that there is hostility towards white people for something they are not entirely at fault for(the system) nor can they control(their skin colour.) Bettering society is a group effort that needs cohesion from every single person or at least enough if them that it acts like herd immunity does for disease.

I'm not asking for individual examples. As I said an individual means nothing to the whole. You implied you had examples of a majority of a gender or people going completely against their natural instincts. That is my point. A lot of the stuff that gets called toxic masculinity these days is stuff that men have been doing/thinking/feeling since men first existed. Hence a biologically programmed instinct which isn't something that can just be turned off or wished away.

I do have an example of a significant group of people going against what I consider to be a basic human instinct, but I want you to define what you consider to be basic human instincts first.

Toxic masculinity is real but the term used for it is terrible because it can come across as an attack on men, when in actuality it is a term that encompasses ideals and behaviours from both sexes that have a negative effect on both sexes. Just like feminism is supposed to mean fighting for equality, period, it can come across as favouring just women.

Yes. Like I mean at the time you knew them they would have been underage, but you also would have been underage, so any feelings at that time would be acceptable but as an adult you would be thinking of girls that were underage while you are not but they are also girls who are still the same age as you.
