Sunhawk 04/04/20 1:50:42 PM #14 | Duran, the first quote is from the early parts of the Old Testament, which I don't think matter THAT much to the modern Christian (with the exception of Genesis, which is awesome); the second quote, I think you're taking it too literally. Also, the Bible teaches tolerance for bad people (or what it considered to be bad people). --- It has been 0 days since something interesting happened. Thrill me, chill me, fulfil me. |

Sunhawk 04/04/20 1:25:03 PM #1 | I read all the way through the Gospel of Luke, which I've never done before (although I'd read various bits of it), and I must admit, it was pretty rewarding and enlightening. Also reread quite a lot of Proverbs, and some random other stuff. Gospel of Luke is actually quite long, maybe 40 pages of fairly small print (although I'm not sure). Previously, I've read Matthew all the way through, but just sections of Mark and John. Ironically, despite the Gospels basically being the crux of the Bible, you could also argue they're the last important to read, because even a random atheist knows roughly what's in them, to say nothing of if you've read one of them, you know basically what happens in the other three. Any thoughts on all this? I love having good weather to just sit outside and read. Last week it was reading Oscar Wao for about the 25th time, and this week, it was my 8th or 9th readthrough of The Moon and Sixpence. It makes reading so much easier and...nicer. --- It has been 0 days since something interesting happened. Thrill me, chill me, fulfil me. |

Sunhawk 04/03/20 3:11:23 PM #41 | I thought about doing a post for the XBox 360, but there were actually very few games I regret buying for that. Sunhawk 04/03/20 3:07:20 PM #39 | Sorry, that should've been Metroid Prime 1. I don't know why I put 3. I think, from the context, it was reasonably obvious, though. Never played 2 or 3. Thankfully. --- It has been 0 days since something interesting happened. Thrill me, chill me, fulfil me. |

Sunhawk 04/03/20 2:46:46 PM #30 | How about the Gamecube? One of the worst consoles I ever bothered with. Out of a collection of roughly 40 games, there were at least half a dozen I regretted. Ikaruga Harvest Moon: It's A Wonderful Life Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Metroid Prime 3 Eternal Darkness SSX On Tour Metroid Prime 3 is considered one of the best games of the last 20 years. I remember it winning a bunch of GotY awards in 2003. I just could NOT enjoy it much, though. I won't deny, the graphics were cutting edge. VERY nice. The gameplay just bored and annoyed me, though. The combination of shooting, exploring and puzzling didn't sit at all well with me. I played for something like 3 hours, and NEVER touched it again. Wtf. Eternal Darkness was another game I could NOT get into. I was intruiged by the excellent reviews it got just prior to launch, and got a copy. It was actually kind of a joke. The graphics were nice, but the whole thing felt so cheesy. I played for a little while, and just gave up. SSX Tricky is a very strange case. I like the series. I had previously played SSX Tricky, which I thought was very good; I had also played SSX 3, which I believe to be a great game, and the peak of the series (so to speak). SSX Tricky was just confusing and weird, though. I couldn't actually figure out how to advance. I played for maybe 5 hours, and didn't really get any further than that. Shame, but there we go. Harvest Moon just needed too much tutoring to get into. I actually think it might have been worth it, in the end, though, I couldn't be bothered. Another game I have just a few hours in. Ikaruga is more my kind of thing. Old-skool shooting. The graphics weren't great, though, and there were only 5 levels. I know a game like this focuses on replaying, and improving your score, but it just didn't appeal to me much. This certainly wasn't Crazy Taxi. As for Prince of Persia, I'm not sure what happened with this. I quite enjoyed it, early on, then I just stopped. It's too long ago to remember why, but there must've been something I disliked. I think it was the repetitive graphics. I remember it all being desert levels (although that would indeed by an accurate take on Persia). Who knows. Definitely not worth the money, though. Any thoughts on these games? I must admit, the Gamecube was probably the worst console I ever bought. In addition to those half dozen games that I basically hated, there were MANY more games I was lukewarm on, and only about 3 games I thoroughly enjoyed, i.e. Super Mario Sunshine, Super Monkey Ball 1, and SSX 3. Sad. Never knew why so many Nintendrones really liked this console (although I think that last comment contains the answer to it's own question). Not a dreadful console, but pretty medicore. --- It has been 0 days since something interesting happened. Thrill me, chill me, fulfil me. |

Sunhawk 04/03/20 2:32:14 PM #27 | Let's see if I can think of some others. These are some Wii games I regret buying. Not too bad, because it's only 4 games out of roughly 30. Let's see. No More Heroes Sonic and the Secret Rings Sonic and the Black Knight Conduit 2 No More Heroes was just bad, bad, bad. The gameplay wasn't much fun at all. Don't understand why people enjoyed it so much. The graphics sucked HARD, even for the Wii - that's how bad they were! I don't remember them being at all good. It could've been a Saturn game, practically. Conduit 2 was a bad sequel to a very good game. The Conduit 1 was very well-designed, generally pretty enjoyable, and you could see the effort that had gone into the graphics. Conduit 2 had many problems. The levels didn't seem much fun; the hub world was boring and pointless; some exploring and puzzling seemed to have crept into the mix, and not in a good way. As for the Sonic games, they were pretty bad. Possibly the worst Sonics I have ever bought. The bizarre thing was the way you had to keep running forward, and moved left and right by tilting the Wiimote. The graphics were actually quite impressive with Sonic and the Secret Rings, and it wasn't an AWFUL purchases, but I do regret it. Gameplay wasn't much fun, and they padded the game by making you play through levels multiple times. I gave up before beating it. Sonic and the Black Knight was even worse. I honestly didn't enjoy this very much AT ALL. Just...dreadful. I can't believe they made a Sonic game this bad. Waste of money. Thoughts on these? --- It has been 0 days since something interesting happened. Thrill me, chill me, fulfil me. |

Sunhawk 04/03/20 2:15:29 PM #14 | Alpha218 posted... Also Im surprised you didnt list Smash, Sunhawk. Did you warm up to it? Yes I did! I still think it's a pretty average game, but I've had limited fun on it. Maybe 10 or 15 hours. I dunno. Plus, seeing a bunch of your favourite Nintendo characters together, and all the cool arenas, etc etc etc. is pretty sweet. I won't deny, the graphics are also excellent, in a way that isn't true for all Switch games. Could I have put the 40 to better use? Sure. Do I regret getting the game in general? No. --- It has been 0 days since something interesting happened. Thrill me, chill me, fulfil me. |

Sunhawk 04/03/20 2:04:08 PM #1 | This topic will no doubt trigger people. I KNOW THIS BOARD. Luigi's Mansion 3 Valkryia Chronicles 4 Dark Souls 1 (remake) Crash Team Nitro Racing Wolfenstein Youngblood I must admit, the Switch has quite a few games I honestly regret buying. You know what I mean. When you buy a game, hate it, and put in less than 5 hours. You REALLY feel that 50 (or $60) could've gone to much better use. Wtf. Well, let's get into my reasons. Crash Team Nitro Racing was just bleh. It was SO hard, I couldn't get past the first grouping of levels. I'm all for intensely hard games, but not right at the beginning. Or if they do start off very, very hard, they should be non-linear, so you can try other stuff. Really shame, because the gameplay was actually quite good fun, and the updated graphics were excellent. Wolftenstein Youngblood was also pretty bad. The graphics were VERY nice, if glitchy, but the gameplay has strayed too far from the core tenets of FPSs. I wanted to run down street after street shooting enemies, at a reasonable level of difficulty. Like Call of Duty. Or FEAR. Instead, I get a confusing game with exploration, talking to characters, and (I think) leveling up characters. Played for a few hours, had a lot fun, then quit. The worst of the bunch was Luigi's Mansion 3. It was just horrible. HORRIBLE. Complete waste of 40. The puzzles were just confusing and annoying. I barely enjoyed the early phases of the main campaign at all. There was a glimmer of hope with that bonus mode, where you just fight ghosts in level after level, but the difficulty was seemingly so high, I never made much progress at all. This game is too be avoided at all costs. Valyrkia Chronicles 4 wasn't entirely bad, and the cel-shaded graphics were certainly a change of pace, but the gameplay left a lot to be desired. I was often confused...and angry. Yeah. The cutscenes were the usual weeb garbage, with female soldiers in what was basically WW2, complete with funny-coloured hair. Not a dreadful game, but I do regret buying it. You never know...in this case, I might give it another try at some point, and turn around on it. Dark Souls, I'm on the fence about. It has a number of problems, but I cared enough to put in maybe 10 hours. Graphics are pretty good, but the core gameplay is lifeless. Seems like hack and slash. And they couldn't even get THAT right. The layouts of areas are confusing, there isn't enough exploring, and there are too many quick deaths. It doesn't seem like much fun at all. Not dreadful. Just...you know. Bad. So there we go. I find it disconcerting that I own about 25 Switch games, 5 of them I found largely to be wastes of time. It's one thing to buy a game and not enjoy it much, or perhaps like it, but it's pretty short with no replay value. But these were really bad. Amazed they're generally popular games. What are your personal thoughts on these games? Do you agree with opinions? Or am I just a moron? The latter, right? These games upset me. --- It has been 0 days since something interesting happened. Thrill me, chill me, fulfil me. |

Sunhawk 04/03/20 11:20:44 AM #1 | I've never found all 120, but...I've done pretty well. On my original file, I found about 100, and on my current file, I've got maybe 90, although I'm pretty sure some are new ones (to me). Crazy. Some are VERY well hidden, however. Just recently, I found one (although I didn't actually get to it) in the Hebra Mountains, behind a massive stone door, and if I understand correctly, you have to roll snowballs down a slope to smash it open. Sadly, my snowballs either didn't get big enough before reaching their target, or smashed on something else before getting there. I'm still finding Koroks, as well. All over. My personal best is maybe 150...out of 900. I just discovered one on a hill, where I shall something embedded in a tree; I discovered another one on the river that flows near the Great Plateau, on a little island I had never really thought about before. The new Kirk films are mostly just explosions and lens flares effects, and Discovery made me want to puke, it was SO bad.
