A Texas elementary school art teacher who was placed on administrative leave after showing her students a picture of her fiance has reached a $100,000 settlement after a judge ruled that her suspension was unconstitutional.

"The agreements the district and I made in this settlement are a positive first step in making things better for gay employees, gay students and gay families in Mansfield," the teacher, Stacy Bailey, told NBC Dallas-Fort Worth.

Bailey, who began working at Charlotte Anderson Elementary School in the Dallas suburb of Arlington over a decade ago, sued the district and two school administrators in May 2018, claiming that the defendants wrongly discriminated against her because of her sexual orientation.

According to the suit, a parent complained to the school board and the superintendent that Bailey was promoting a "homosexual agenda" in the classroom by showing students a picture of the woman who is now her wife during a "Get to Know Your Teacher" presentation. The complaint eventually led to Bailey who was twice selected Teacher of the Year at her school being placed on administrative leave in September 2017 and then being asked the next month for her resignation, which she refused to give.

After the lawsuit was filed, the school district said it did "not warrant merit" and categorically denied the allegations, claiming in a statement that the district "has been an inclusive, supportive environment for LGBT staff for decades."

"The issue at Charlotte Anderson Elementary School is whether Mrs. Bailey has followed district guidelines requiring that controversial subjects be taught in 'an impartial and objective manner," the district told NBC News at the time. "Teachers shall not use the classroom to transmit personal beliefs regarding political or sectarian issues."

In August 2018, four months after she filed her lawsuit, Bailey was transferred to nearby Lake Ridge High School. While Bailey was happy to return to the classroom, her attorney, Jason C.N. Smith, said she was "disappointed that she doesn't get to return to Charlotte Anderson." Shortly thereafter, the district filed a motion to dismiss Bailey's lawsuit, saying her new high school position "is arguably a more prestigious position than that of an elementary school art teacher."

Texas, like most states, does not have a law explicitly prohibiting workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity, according to the Movement Advancement Project, an LGBTQ think tank. However, Smith said the defendants violated Bailey's constitutionally protected civil rights.

As part of the settlement, the school district will provide mandatory training on LGBTQ issues to its educators and staffers, including human resources employees and counselors. It will also compel the district's board of trustees to vote on whether to add sexual orientation protections to its policies.

"The judge's decision in this case sends a message to school districts all across this country: The Constitution protects gay teachers fromdiscrimination," Smith told NBC Dallas-Fort Worth.

In addition to Bailey's financial settlement $10,000 of which she has committed to donating to an unspecified nonprofit focusing on LGBTQ student issues her 2017 suspension has been rescinded. Smith said he will also donate $10,000 of his reduced fees to the Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest LGBTQ advocacy organization.

"The Human Rights Campaign was proud to stand with Ms. Bailey as she faced and then challenged discrimination head on," Alphonso David, president of the Human Rights Campaign, said in a statement. "Justice has been served in this case, and a talented teacher has won the right to be herself in the classroom and in her workplace. No one should face retribution simply for being themselves."

She's in every way what you expect the perfect girl to be from apperance to personality to career except for the fact she accepts everything the president says as true.

It's due to a complex she has when she was raised, her parents always told her that the president was the best America had to offer. A charismatic leader and brilliantly intelligent . The best of the best, that's why he is elected in a public vote

Doesn't matter who the president is or what they say no matter how bizarre or incorrect, she will believe it 100% because the president said it

You're walking home one day when you see 2 people in police uniforms towering over a cowering Batgirl. There is no one else in sight.

She looks pretty roughed up but it's impossible to tell exactly what happened

"I don't get what Gotham P.D's problem was, we already got 2 of 'em. These batfreaks are easier to catch than CoronaVirus." one of the men says.

Batgirl sees you, makes eye contact,
starts crawling and reaching out at you while gasping "Nooo....not... real... Cobblepot men...Help me... They have... You have to... Dick.. you need to get Dick..."

Suddenly she falls unconscious as they grab her and you can't tell if they did something or If she just passed out.

"Stay back citizen. This is a highly dangerous and immensely insane fugitive. Move along!" The other man says as the pair hoist Batgirl up and carry her towards their car which your brain notes is the cleanest and most pristine copcar you have ever seen.

Police in Akaiwa, Okayama Prefecture, on Wednesday arrested a 51-year-old man on suspicion of killing his 50-year-old wife with a sword.

Police said they received a call at around 4:50 a.m. Wednesday from a 77-year-old woman saying that her son was threatening his wife with a sword at their home, Sankei Shimbun reported. Shortly after, an employee at a nearby 7-Eleven convenience store called 110 and said a man had stabbed a woman with a sword in the store.

Police rushed to the scene and found the body of Rie Kobayashi, 50, bleeding from several stab wounds to the stomach. She was taken to hospital where she died about one hour later.

Police went to her home, which is about 250 meters from the store, and detained her husband, Yoshinobu, 51, who is self-employed, on suspicion of murder. They also found a blood-stained sword with a 72-cm-long blade.

Police said Kobayashis mother had also suffered a light injury to her head when she tried to stop her son from attacking his wife.

You come home from work unexpectedly early one day only to hear arguing coming from inside. You open the door to find your son fighting with a girl. Except this is no ordinary woman, she is bright blue, tall, has a distorted voice and is clearly exterrestrial despite being humanoid.

"This is your fault! You're the one who told me I couldn't get you pregnant." Your son screams.

"I didn't think humans could. You don't produce much and no one else has since first contact. But it's too late now it's happened and you're not even going to tell him!?" the alien retorts while throwing a pillow.

"Dad!?" your teen son shouts as he sees you in the doorway. The pillow hits him square in the chin.

"Yes your parantage! You're not even going to inform him that you q-..... Oh..." she says as she realizes and turns round to see you.

The doctor's diary/medical notes were one of the few things the soviets never erased or doctored.

One of the things the doctor noted was that Stalin was very paranoid and always kept a gun on his person at all times. Even when sleeping and washing. He had a gun on hand.

Things like that make me wonder how much insight Trump's doctor could give us if we invaded his or her privacy

Ireland is in the EU. The Independant Northern Ireland isn't. Even if it tried to join it won't be for years.

They would have to have a border between the nations and without the UK, it would have to be a hard border armed with military forces for basic security measures

Why does Mexico have to have a hard border with The US and Guatemala?

Same reasons.

So, it being part of the UK isn't a good solution.
It being part of Ireland isn't a good solution.

What if it went independent?
Separate from both

That would be a terrible terrible terrilble idea

1. The people who live there don't want it.

2. It would lose all the trade deals, laws, protection and money it gets from being the UK. It would cripple it's economy and military to the point of making the entire nation a bad joke.

3. It would have to erect a hard boarder not only from Ireland but also strict boarder controls for England/Scotland/Wales as well which would be a nightmare.

4. It would have to negoicate new trade deals and laws with the EU From a bargining position of absolutely nothing. It would get fucked over so hard. And even if they tried to join the EU and the EU let them join that would still take years.

This isn't California. It's not even potentially self-sustaining on a global developed scale.

A longtime Minnesota bus driver was given the sendoff he always wanted after he was buried in a casket decorated like a yellow school bus.

For 55 years, Glen Paul Davis worked as a loyal bus driver for the Grand Meadow school system; he often bragged that he never once had an accident over the course of his career. He also always joked that he wanted to be buried in a casket that resembled his beloved buses.

It was only a joke until his friend, a funeral director named Jim Hindt, commissioned his niece to paint a casket like a school bus. It was even emblazoned with the #3 of Daviss first busand he was incredibly touched by the gesture.

When we showed it to Glen, he was speechlessalmost brought him to tears, Hindt told KARE 11.

Davis loved the decorated coffin so much, he would often bring people to the Hindt Funeral Home in order to show off its colorful design.

The casket drew its biggest crowd of admirers, however, when dozens of students, school staffers, and community members showed up for Daviss funeral at St. Finbarrs Catholic Church last week after he passed away at the age of 88.

His online obituary has since sparked an outpouring of tributes and messages of support. One reader wrote: I met Glenn more than 10 years ago. He was such a cheerleader for me. Such a sweet man. I so appreciated his kindness.

Everyone who worked at the Grand Meadow School knew and loved Glen! added a woman named Mary Anderson. He was so generous to the kids, staff, and and his donations to the school. When I retired, he hand-polished field stones for my flower garden and decorated a piece of granite with a newspaper articlestill on display in my living room!

A neighboring school district even paid homage to Davis with a message reading: Rest in peace, fellow school bus driver. May your final stop be peaceful. Your students will not forget you.
