See the funny thing is the franchise gives away exactly what its about right in the title. Monster Hunting. Thats what youre doing. Taking down some kaiju with some comically large anime weapons. Thats literally it my friends. Anything more than that is what you take away from the series and what you enjoy doing. To dismiss the early game entirely and tell a new player to not give a shit about it is just sad man. Ive put like 800 hours into MHW. No amount of hours on top of that 800 will recreate the feelings I had learning the controls and the weapons, exploring the world and having the combat and everything click into place like it did for me in the beginning. Im not writing any praise for the story and its definitely not winning awards from me but again, Im never going to tell a new player to dismiss it either. I hope that every new player in any game can take their time to appreciate the content the creators made, not just the endgame shit. Do you remember creating your first word in Minecraft? Thats what its like. When youre discovering a game from the inside out should be an exciting feeling and should be appreciated because you will never get that back. And to come in with this endgame mentality and say hey look forward to grinding because thats what you need to race to is a dreadful, sad outlook on this hobby bro. Did you know theyre making a movie?  Now, regardless of how good this movie ends up being, what do you think its going to be about ? Hunting monsters with stupid large weapons, as this poster implies? Or 2 hours and 47 minutes of Milla Jovovich cutting pelts off of Pukei-Pukei? --- |

This is literally one of the worst takes in gaming, its toxic as fuck and so many gamers are guilty of pushing this agenda on so many different games. What youre essentially saying is Stick with one weapon whether you like it or not until it becomes a chore. None of that matters. You need to get to the part of the game where youve seen and accomplished most things, then, and only then, when the main thing left to do is grind, then you have time to experiment. Dude I straight PITY you if thats your outlook on games. I really fuckin do. Theres nothing sadder to me than not appreciating hours, possibly hundreds of hours of story and content, because of some arbitrary race to endgame. Because as if the tier of weapons and amor you have access to is YOUR ONLY BASELINE OF FUN. Yall really need to take a step back and possibly re-examine how you approach video games. There is no rush, no timeline to be at endgame oh he might miss some event thats happening right now? Well hes missed how many events since the game released? Who fuckin cares. I mean Im not saying there isnt value to endgame. | SwayM 04/24/20 4:22:05 PM #75 | Pinky if you take one piece of advice from me for this entire topic use the weapon you want to use and dont let any CEmen, youtuber or even your grandma tell ya different Dont shy away from a weapon because it might seem complicated at first. Youre learning everything from the ground up anyway, it might just take you a little longer to learn that weapon over another. there are enough guides on YouTube you can follow if you wanna learn the more complicated mechanics. Practice, take down low level monsters and work your way up. The thing that all weapons have in common though is that the combat revolves around finding your openings to attack the monster. Because every weapon is different, and some are faster than others. Learn the monsters patterns first then as you become more familiar wi Th The weapons youll recognize where your attacks can fit in. The thing about Monster Hunter is you can ply it anyway you want. You dont have to min/max your damage and Armor skills. Especially in early game, all that stuff youll learn along the way you can start building towards certain playstyles But some people play this game in a fashionsouls sense and could give a shit about maximizing their damage or defence. That works too. --- |

| SwayM 04/24/20 11:52:21 AM #17 | Heres also a great tip that I literally just learned myself. If you select Return from quest in the options menu. You will leave the quest and keep everything you have gathered (monster parts or world pickups) but you will also have consumed everything you used (potions, food, etc) if you select Abandon quest youre basically given a reset and everything you used during that quest (potions and whatnots) will be returned to you. So if youre ever feeling like youre getting slaughtered by a monster, youve carted (died) 2/3 times already and youve expended so many of your precious early game resources that you dont want to grind for. Just abandon the quest maybe and try again? Or go for the gusto and maybe youre closer to beating it then you think. Idk I cant tell ya what to do but good advice nonetheless --- |

| SwayM 04/24/20 11:38:11 AM #14 | I know how it would be intimidating jumping in for the first time. MHW was my first entry into the series and now I have like 600 hours into that game. But looking at it from what I know now, there really isnt THAT much in the beginning the game requires you to learn. The only thing you should learn is the weapons. Try out literally any weapon that interests you in the beginning and keep training and fighting monsters until you understand the mechanics. Thats it. The rest will follow. Also Im the type of person that changes my mind at the drop of a hat. Ive switched weapons so many damn times for this game. So if you find something you love and wanna stick with it 100% go nuts. But dont be afraid to mix it up, it might seem intimidating because of the part requirements but its really not that bad in the end. And once you get more familiar with the crafting of course that Will get easier so if youre looking to try a new weapon you have that in mind going forward with what parts you need. --- |

All this says Is that theyre coming out the gate stating theyre not going to try as hard. Theyre not going to make a game that looks good for a 2020 release. Its laziness to me. Overwatch is a 4 year old game but looks leagues better than Valorant. Has absolutely zero problem with their design language because you can tell they had a clear goal in mind of making every character distinct. Even with all the wacky character skins that theyve added over the years its still kept that core design. Its also a much faster paced game and so many characters have movement abilities that add a depth to the game. Thats a whole different discussion about how Valorant basically has done extremely little to innovate if theyre trying to make CSGO its own genre. Overwatch was an absolute spin off of TF2 but you can make clear lines where the two differ and Overwatch became its own game. This entire game reeks of easy cash grab and use their clout to market a pretty lacklustre game rather than making something interesting and appealing on its own. IMHO of course. --- |

| SwayM 04/24/20 8:29:30 AM #11 | Anyone who didnt get a chance to try Lawbreakers the gameplay IMHO was pretty solid. Very unique response to a hero/twitch shooter. Super fast and each character controlled and moved completely different. Map traversal was lot of fun, guns get pretty good too. That to me is far more interesting than the CS model that Valorant has copied. The aiming might be fast but the characters are super slow. If youre into that kinda thing cool beans brother but definitely not my style. Pretty boring to play and watch. Abilities are a nice addition but theyre just a new coat of paint on a very tired formula for me. The amount of time Ive seen pro streamers get caught out, do a rapid 180 flick and switch to their knife and attempt to get away, only just to be lit up in milliseconds. --- |
