Then Luke goes to Cloud City to help his friends despite Yoda insisting that Luke complete the training, and that going will help his friends temporarily, but completing the training will actually help the cause that Luke's friends were fighting for. All this time Yoda was worried that Luke would become another Anakin, as you said. They should have done something with that (i.e. it was important to the plot of the series they they did something with that), but they didn't. --- Shenmue II = best game of all time Shenmue = 2nd best game of all time |

He has learned how much he has to learn, and is willing to leave the war to master himself before returning. This is why Yoda has nothing to teach him, and facing Vader is his final challenge. It's never going to take the weight of all the mythology that fanboys love to pile onto it; it's not going to reward penetrating analysis. Don't read too much into it, or demand too much from it. But the way the movies are written now the whole thing doesn't really make sense. The intro at Jabba's Palace is one of the best parts of the OT imo (besides Boba Fett being killed stupidly like that). There just wasn't much they could do to redeem the ending of ESB. | Damn_Underscore 01/03/20 3:40:36 PM #1 | Spoilers, but who hasn't seen the OT yet? Luke clearly failed his training, then was hit with an emotional nuke that Darth Vader was his father. So does he turn to the dark side like Yoda was obviously predicting? No, he escapes by contacting Leia, then when the Millennium Falcon is in an inescapable situation, R2D2 somehow instantly fixes everything and they get away. Then the movie just ends. They did an OK job fixing things with ROTJ, but honestly there should have been another movie between ESB and ROTJ. Luke should have turned to the dark side as was predicted by Yoda and his failed training, and Leia should have either redeemed Luke and been the co-hero with Luke redeeming their father together, or the primary hero. They basically did nothing with Leia being Luke's sister other than Luke being able to force contact Leia at the end of ESB to save him. TBH the ending of ESB really brings it down in comparison to the rest of the OT. --- Shenmue II = best game of all time Shenmue = 2nd best game of all time |

Not that the website's opinion matters, but the score is more likely to reflect the collective opinion of the website - either that or the scores are meaningless because different reviewers have different standards and a 7 from one reviewer is not the same as a 7 from another reviewer. It's sort of not though. Playstation has a full generation of games that Xbox doesn't have (PS1), and PS2 is basically unanimously agreed to have a better library that the original Xbox. As you go on in the generations, the libraries become more equal (360 is probably better than the PS3 and the PS4 is probably better than the Xbox One, but you could argue either way).
