Why do Sonic games need a story? sonic games have always had a story, in fact the best sonic game of all (sonic 3 & knuckles) was the genesis game that had the most amount of story story improves sonic games, as long as it doesn't veer into edgy grimdark shadow the hedgehog territory in fact, the thing that made the early sonic games memorable was that the stories of each game built on each other... sonic 2 introduced the death egg sonic 3 the death egg crashes into angel island and robotnik tricks knuckles into doing his dirty work sonic and knuckles you find out about the master emerald which greatly expands the lore behind the chaos emeralds, and the death egg is destroyed for the final time sonic adventure you learn about the history of angel island, the echidna tribes, the master emerald, chaos, and tikal SA1 debatably had the best story of all --- |

| Mecha Sonic 11/18/19 10:41:01 PM #64 | well the upshot is, even though twilight manages to convince starlight to give up on trying to sabotage the race, filly rainbow dash still catches a glimpse of an inexplicable purple alicorn out of the corner of her eye she's still distracted by it a week later when her mom and dad take her to see a wonderbolts show in baltimare there's an unrelated construction accident that kills her parents, whereas in the canon universe, she wouldn't have been distracted, and was able to push them out of the way consequently, the timeline is irrevocably changed despite twilight's best efforts... a rip in time opens up in the sky over the canon timeline, which neither she, starlight, nor any of the princesses can do anything to fix the rip expands over the next few days, engulfing everything and everyone as the new timeline "catches up" with them it's a really dark and distressing thing to read, but also a really clever idea for setting up an alternate universe --- |
