Often the narrative will feature topical subjects as part of the plot, even if said subjects aren't heavily focused on. There's also the set-up with a normal and empowered person, with much of the plot obstacles requiring the powers of the superhuman to advance the story. Having completed Season 2 just now, I'd say it had a better plot and resolution than the first season simply because it didn't make the powers so integral to the plot. It's just for character building and letting the superhuman do stuff. I'd do more of that if I wrote a season 3. Orzammar and the Deep Roads are way more of a slog than the Fade ever was. and the Fade just gets easier and quicker on subsequent playthroughs, cuz you know where to go and what you need to do to solve all of the puzzles. subsequent playthroughs don't make the Deep Roads any less of a slog, or dwarven political bickering any more engaging. I dislike it because it's blatant and inorganic padding on a rather short main quest.
