How is ESO as far as MMOs go, and is it comparable to any?

@Villain - It's a really strong MMO in my opinion, one of three total that has ever grabbed my attention for more than a week. You do want to get some of the expansion content though, especially if you want to move beyond the default four classes the game has (Morrowind added a Warden which is like a Druid with a pet bear, and Elseweyr added the Necromancer class).

The world is very interactive compared to the other big ones (WoW, Guild Wars 2, Final Fantasy XIV). With the Thieves Guild content pack you can pickpocket people and steal from chests, plus it unlocks a whole new quest line and new daily quests in a whole new zone. With the Dark Brotherhood you can assassinate NPCs, plus do a new quest line and new daily quests in a new zone.

There's a lot to complete in each zone, from standard quests to public dungeons and public group dungeons and group combat encounters. The base game has a central story about your character's origins and then each of the three Factions has its own territory spread across multiple zones (and each zone frequently has a sub-story that contributes to the main Faction story). Within each of those "faction territories" there's usually at least one or two mini questlines that follow you through the zones, and you can influence the outcomes/characters of those quests and then see the consequences of your actions in the next quest in the next zone. ALSO, you'll encounter things like graveyards with hostile ghosts or towns whose population has been wiped out, and when you do the quests for those areas the ghosts might be "pacified" or the population might come back to the town. Honestly I felt like I had a bigger impact in this world than I have in any other TES game, even though it is all fairly scripted.

Probably the two biggest drawbacks imo are that crafting materials become unmanageable because there's a ridiculous amount of them, and the combat becomes kind of stale after a while with one class. For the first problem, you can kind of mitigate that by joining a Clan and sharing your materials with the Clan Bank. You can also get ESO Plus (the monthly sub), which gives you an unlimited inventory specifically for crafting mats, plus access to some of the other "minor" content (like certain new dungeons, the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood stuff and a lot of others). For the second problem, you *can* re-spec your allotted abilities and your character's traits (between Magicka, HP and Stamina), but if you've played other MMOs you know that if you want to change roles you need to get a whole new set of gear, and you're still limited to that class.

It was an annoying mechanic in AC2 because IIRC it just automatically raised your notoriety level. Not by much at all, but even a single percent there would cause your minimap to explode with icons :\

You could definitely pickpocket in AC2 but I don't think it was ever used too much in the game from what I recall.

You could even pickpocket in the original AC game but it was only specific targets (messengers carrying assassination target clues and thugs for their throwing knives).

Well, it was only Desmond, and some Assassin-turned-Templar character that they introduced in 3.

Could've sworn annoying British quip machine at some point, but maybe I'm just mixing fantasy with reality. Everyone else has gotten some decent lines so far, though.

Not gonna lie, from the moment they introduced that character I was waiting for the reveal that he was an undercover Templar and you'd get to kill him.

I think they toned him down and made him into a likeable character with 3 though.

@OP The Ezio trilogy is pretty dang good, and it ties in to the main story through 3 so I don't know how you didn't play them before lol.

As far as I know, the idea that "gay guys just want to sexually assault little boys" is limited to smaller portions of society, it's definitely not a widespread thing you will hear on normal radio stations and it's not something that's tolerated in work place environments.

Yeah there's still hatred and stuff in the US but you see what happens to people who voice bigoted opinions like that online...

Oh yeah, there is lots of support for daith (sp?) piercings and acupuncture for migraines. If it were me I would do the latter though, as its not permanent and the migraines may be due to a cause or resolve better through other treatment options.

yeah he got it for shoulder pain, was still getting it fixed up but it was a temporary relief option.

All of the base Mustangs I've rented with the 2.3L EcoBoost have gotten me 30 MPGs on the highway. If you drive it like a maniac, then MPG suffers as it does for any other car.

A Tesla to me is like if Whirlpool or Kenmore decided to build a car. Literally a toaster or washing machine on wheels. You literally plug it in. I see these things on the road and just laugh.

No quality. No grille. No engine. I find it comical that the person who can afford to spend $50K or more on these things actually cares about fuel efficiency. If gas mileage bothers you that much, then get a Corolla.

"No engine" - it doesn't really need one ... Teslas have broken many performance records for production cars. And I don't see why "plugging it in" is a laughable thing...

How close to the older games is it? Last AC game I played was I think Shattered Horizons or whatever and it felt like the whole thing was just - get close to plane, enter dogfight mode, shoot at the jet engine of enemy plane, wash, rinse, repeat.

Speaking for myself, I like to drive cars. Those little electric cars I see everywhere are basically refrigerators on wheels to me. Wouldn't be caught dead in one of those things.

I was always bummed that it was just a bunch of random places with random quest lines and everything, but I realized if you just look at it like you're playing through a season of the Outer Limits it makes it kind of palatable.

Roanoke has interesting scenes but I was disappointed that they took a good premise and then screwed it up by using the same recognizable actors to play the "real" people.

I wish they had taken the Fourth Kind approach and used small time actors (or... like real people) to perform as the... real people. It would have added legitimacy to it, especially if they had done some marketing like half a year before it aired doing interviews with the *real* people about their experiences.
