If Hector can't get hurt too badly by the guys in the next chapter, I'd just take his weapon away and stick him on the throne and just wait out the clock. Then you'll get to Kent and the gem without using any resources other than a few vulneraries.

I don't save based on the game. I'm the top IX saver and I'd kill Eiko in a heartbeat. Only time I'd do that is if we're doing year of XV, and they're all good so I'm still only saving good characters.
