HGSS was 10 years ago. That's not who Game Freak is anymore. I also didn't feel like ORAS held up to Emerald, and the games have only been on a downward slope since then, so I'm expecting even less out of a DP remake.

I don't know how you could get tired of the sameness in Gen 7 when it deviated from the formula more than any other game. Yeah, trials weren't that great in execution, but I applaud them for doing something different for once.

I literally go down every path in a Pokemon game anyway. Just because I don't have to go somewhere doesn't mean I won't.

And this too. It's better to have places like the Seafoam Islands and Mt. Mortar that are totally optional but give you a choice to explore them and find stuff.

You have to remember the resolution on the GB games was pretty low, so you couldn't see much around you. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that the Let's Go dungeons were easier because you could see much more of them.

And the Rock Tunnel really wasn't that much of a straight line:

Those maps combined with the small viewing area was a lot easier to get lost in than you think.

It's not like we haven't had two gyms right after the other before. Blaine -> Giovanni, Chuck -> Jasmine, Flannery -> Norman, and Mina -> Hapu (in USUM) were all right after the other with nothing in between. Two of them were at the end of the game, just like this one. It's still better pacing than Poni Island in SM, which went Hapu's Grand Trial -> Mina shows up midway through a dungeon and gives you her crystal because she doesn't have a trial -> random dragon trial at the end of the dungeon.

Most of those have been bypassed as far as I know. The only problem I know of is that sprites sometimes get corrupted, but you can fix it by reloading the map.

Nosferatu weighs a ton and Marianne has no strength, so she's going to get doubled pretty much all the time with it, especially early game. I gave her a couple levels in reason so she'd have a lighter tome to use in case she got attacked.

There's no obvious winner here since The Outer Worlds isn't typically something GameFAQs votes for. But we've seen CoD and Borderlands win GOTY in the past, so it's possible.

If not The Outer Worlds, I'd lean towards Link's Awakening or the RE2 remake.
