This quote is what the real problem I have with what he's trying to say. He acts like corporations are inherently evil when in reality they are just a tool. If someone uses a corporation to make a bunch of money to donate to others I would argue that the corporation is good. Because the people behind it are good. Separating corporations and capitalism from people just show to me a fundamental misunderstanding of what they are. Boycotting something is a facet of capitalism after all

If capitalism as a tool is only good if the people with the money are good and choose to do good things, why don't we instead take their money and ensure it's going to good things?

You're basically just complaining about tone, then. And what's more, making a big deal about it is how information spreads! How is anyone supposed to care about issues if they don't have people advocating for them? Pushing people to "think for themselves" and get more involved is all well and good but the reality is most people don't have the time, energy, or motivation to personally research what companies and issues they want to get upset about. Let alone the energy to stick to their convictions. So that argument basically falls flat to me - if everyone just quietly cared about issues there would be no group cultural awareness of them.

If you want to make a distinction on virtue signalling where it's seems like...they have to be loud advocates for obvious issues, but they also have to be hypocritical, and they may not be giving up anything or stick to it...I dunno? That seems like a weirdly specific thing to complain about.

It furthers the divide in the government, which is unfortunate. The polls have showed some movement towards bipartisan support of impeachment for voters, however. Approval of the impeachment process is creeping up for independents and republicans as more facts come out. The goal is to unite the people around denouncing Trump's corruption. If anyone in the government also comes around that's a bonus.

Or, they could do both, but our system is hopelessly broken and partisan. The House has passed plenty of great bills (and are continuting to introduce legislation during the impeachment investigation as a matter of fact) that the Senate doesnt engage with. Only the most minor of things have been getting done. There really is no better time to impeach than now, because Congress was already unable to do its main job.

The Nier raid dungeon is really cool but I'm crushed I have to wait 6 months for the second part.

The actual story portion of it was surprisingly light. Usually raid storylines don't get interesting until the second portion but I guess I was hoping for a bit more meat since Yoko Taro is involved.

I will say the standard summoner complaint in that it actually is not what you'd expect from the standard FF summoner. The pet management aspect is kinda bad and it's more of a dot class. You have smaller summons that you kinda let poke the enemy as you "charge up" your two bigger summons. But you don't get the big summons for a long time.

Not necessarily bad but not what people expect.

I recently wrapped up 2.5 and am trying to clear some of my quest backlog before moving into Heavensward content. Might look into at least doing some of the Crystal Tower and Binding Coil as well, though I dont know that I have the time to get too into raids. Also Im a PS4 heathen. =P

Definitely do Crystal Tower. Binding Coil is worth doing at some point for the story but it's outdated content that no one does anymore. What you'll need to do is get a premade group together to go through it at max level.

Also I'm a PS4 heathen too so don't worry. I used to be on PC though and I miss my DPS meter.

I raid as BLM and just got E4S down a couple weeks ago.

Yeah the big problem is it's so hard to sight read and it comes right at the end of the fight, so you're putting in 9 minutes at a time to maybe see 10 more seconds of the fight that might not even teach you anything because it kills you so fast. At least Titan puts all the hard stuff at the beginning (and that fight is really fun)

Yeeeeep. I pug raid and this was my exact experience with 2. The DPS check is so tight (or at least it was at launch) and it's literally a make-or-break segment after 9 minutes.

Didn't clear the last two fights before my sub ran out (got to smokers in e3s though which is something) and it'll be harder to clear now so idk if I'll continue raiding. But I am looking forward to the EX trial this patch!

Well that would be pretty bizarre and tone-deaf considering this is real history we're talking about! That's a real piece of German propaganda so to have it just actually work would be sorta reductionist in a show that at least so far has shown a lot of nuance.

My other concern from a canon perspective is that Hooded Justice was gay, and in a committed relationship with Captain Metropolis. Who, by the way, was also a racist. So not only is this a logistical issue for the timeline with Will having descendants, but it would just be problematic to insert him as the Minuteman HJ.

IMO it has to be what Nrrr said or this is all a distraction. There isn't a good way to make it work otherwise without shitting on actual history or the source material, and so far the show is pretty painstakingly adhering to both. I'm really skeptical they could pull that off in a satisfying way.

Interesting tidbit from the Ep. 2 material:

Judd has connections to Senator Keene. This Keene is the son of the senator in Watchmen who made the law that criminalized vigilantism. Keene is mentioned in the show as running for president at the newsstand scene. The excerpt mentions Keene was also responsible for the "Defense of Police Act" amendment to the Keene Act, which is what gave police the ability to mask and be more confidential after the White Night. Definitely points to Judd setting up this conspiracy so that police have more power. Also says Keene is coming to Tulsa.

And this doesn't affect anything but apparently Judd served under Robert S. Mueller in Vietnam. Like, "Mueller Report" Mueller. Ha.

Also OJ's lawyer did the court case that resulted in reparations for descendants/survivors of the Tulsa massacre, lol

I was about to take issue with that first theory because it would miss the point almost entirely (there is plenty of lore in the comics that suggest Hooded Justice is a racist Nazi sympathizer and also...look at him) but that additional take makes it actually interesting.

If anyone didn't know, HBO is publishing supplemental material on their site after each episode, similarly to what the comic did at the end of each issue. Pretty cool stuff.
