I'm of the opinion that you can save around characters to knock them out, but putting out direct hits is against the spirit of the contest.

How do you accidentally get genocide?

He was killing all the encounters because that's what you do with enemies, you kill them. Then he was grinding for cash for the spider bake sale, and accidentally killed all the enemies in the area. After that, every area had a counter of remaining enemies to kill, and he's a completionist so he had to do it.
