Yeah, Olga is portrayed as being extremely psychologically frail. The smallest set-back sends her spiraling into depression. The pressure she feels to be perfect has made her incapable of coping.
IIRC, there's even an episode where she gets into an abusive relationship(implied, of course) and Helga has to get her to see reason.
That's another point the series makes on occasion: Helga is wiser and better-grounded than her 20-something sister.
