well, this is just not true. it comes in different forms and youtube does target youth yeah, but you're not immune to it. a middle-aged person just might be more likely to start watching fox news all the time and parrot its talking points, for example. same idea, different medium.

(also, i was under the impression you were in your early or mid-thirties? in that case you're still a millennial :p)

As for Youtube, I've been a long-time Sargon fan, he wasn't just suggested by the algorithm. I started with This Week in Stupid and loved it... I tend to dislike most righties like NoBull, undoomed, that one guy... tim pool? But I do like some like TJ Kirk and Suris. The most right-wing person I'm subscribed to is Blaire White (self-identified Conservative)

i believe you, but it still comes back to my point that the algorithms are far more insidious than that. sargon or whoever else may not have had the same position in the levels of radicalization five years ago as they do now but they still pervade regardless. things have changed radically since 2016 for obvious reasons.

at the very least though i would urge you to reconsider watching blaire white. personal politics aside, most of her brand is just shock-value stuff to appeal to the darker sides of the right, as well as just generally being nasty to people who don't really do anything wrong. :(

i would contend that the way to fix it is to divest yourself from independent youtubers as your primary source in general. there's nothing wrong with getting multiple viewpoints and opinions, but overwhelmingly what i see is that you're only getting one very narrow angle (even if it presents itself as unbiased). obviously i can only go by what you post about on here, but that's where most of your arguments seem to come from as well.

lok, i dont know if im wasting my time here, but i will attempt to explain in a level-headed and respectful way why this shit is poisonous. this is my hail mary and if you dont get it after this im just not gonna click on your topics anymore

the issue is that you are a prime target for radicalization. youre a white male, and you live in an area where the general political rhetoric is that of seeming like the population has been left behind by the rest of the country (especially in the wake of the recent election). you also, crucially, are disabled, and presumably dont leave your house or talk to people in person extremely often. i do not say this to make light of your disability or say you are less able to think critically because of it, but when gamefaqs and youtubers like this are your primary form of socialization and informing yourself, these things are going to happen.

the algorithms are designed to ease you into radicalization and this has been shown time and time again. thats why its pointless to point to any one video and explain whats wrong with it, and its why i dont watch any video you post to find out - because any one video is just one part of the larger picture. its also why when you say you watch some left-wing people it doesnt mean a lot to me because the algorithm is far more insidious than that. it will not just start showing you alt-right stuff. there are levels, and its designed to ease you into those gradually. (i mean, you cant convince me sargon is anything but a surface-level right-wing figure but thats another discussion)

this isnt conspiratorial and youre far from the only one to fall into this hole. i have no idea how you could begin to address this, but a good start would be to not get your news items from secondary sources like youtube.
