Like I think in Shield Hero, Naofumi has a harsh view on things, but is ultimately fair (maybe even lenient) to people in the story. Motoyasu, while not like a good guy, is more just misled and generally an idiot. I think his characterization is pretty good.

I really like the disgaea voice cast, especially the first game.

The situation is like the boy who cried wolf. Except that instead of a boy it's a girl and instead of no one believing the girl a bunch of people do and shoot the wolf before confirming it's a wolf and a bunch of people, who can't confirm that it's not a wolf, shoot back at the people who shot because they are upset that the first group shot with blindfolds on. It comes to a point where it doesn't matter who is guilty or innocent only who is next to you holding a gun.

Now as for the whole legal consequences thing. Remember a long time ago when that online bullying stuff happened due to the MySpace suicide? It got a lot of attention and caused a pretty big aftermath of hastily written laws and legislation in response. I know that in this case it was pretty cut and dry that the woman who drove the girl to commit suicide did so with intention to cause harm, malice, and a perpetual bombarding of self-esteem reducing rhetoric. The problem was that at the time it was like a first of it's kind case that has really reached the attention it did. It also happened during a time where the internet as a whole was not as sensitive to such issues. AFAIK the woman who was tried for the crime simply walked after appeal (although as to why I can't tell you that). I realize that there are several key differences like the fact that the girl who committed suicide was a minor. But imo, if someone can get away in those circumstances I can't see Zoe Quinn being punished legally either.

As for if she should be punished or not. I'm leaning to no unless it can be proven that she indeed did fabricate things in order to boost her own worth somehow, like for the means of funding etc. But this would also be hard to prove. And even then, her punishment would likely be for some sort of fraud or whatnot and not causing a guy to kill himself.

The result of no one actually caring about what someone didn't or didn't do or who is or is not responsible and instead using stuff like this as a platform for promoting their ideals on other people who will never stray from theirs.

Ironically, arguably the best content creator on the network (Larry bundy jr) won the "Channel Awesome hunger games". As a kind of joke. Also as like a thing where no one even knew he was part of the channel.

Also, nostalgia critic was always the driving force behind Channel Awesome. It's been enough of an internet brand to stand on it's own for quite some time.

It just comes down to do you think that he should be punished because you think that what he did might be morally wrong, or if you think he should not be punished because he might not be legally in the wrong. I mean, that's really not the whole story but those are the "goalposts" that the farsides of the arguments seem to set up and there is much more than 100 yards between them.

I said that the issue is not that they want to draw attention to something dumb or things that need attention, but that their willingness to destroy no matter what, in the face of anything, is what's concerning.

As for the outcome. I don't know yet, it's not over. As for like harassment. Do I think some of it was fair? Yeah, like I think when you put yourself out there even if it was in a private setting, the way he did (by posting compromising photos etc) he sets himself up for hey... maybe if this gets out I'd get made fun of. What kind of bugs me though is that lets say he did this just because he liked to and posted them publicly and didnt do it as an exchange program. Do you think people would commend him for bravery in that situation? Yeah he'd still run into trouble because of it but the change in circumstances would probably paint a different picture.

IMO, things like "cancel culture" is just an aftereffect of the internet basically being a breeding ground for what I'm going to call the subreddit effect. Where it has become so easy just to find a group of people who follow your beliefs or moral code etc that big enough groups can weaponize it.

"Cancel culture" is actually a bad name for what's going on. it's just one that's been recently used to explain the situation. It's more like Outrage or Call-Out culture i'd say is a better name (also names that have been used but not as commonly in recent times). I'd think those who care or follow this would know that the name doesn't exactly fit the situation.

I already said it's not an apples to apples comparison. I'm saying that we give liberties or protections to people or outlets that are doing things that benefit us or that would directly impact us in someway if they were gone or had to go through unneeded steps to protect themselves. I'd say making a website or platform liable for everything a user might post to be unreasonable as long as reasonable signposts are set among other things. You can argue if the signposts that Jared had set were reasonable or enough, but you cant argue that they were not there. The thing is that Jared's situation does not really affect most people. Just him, and his immediate friend base and business partners, etc.

Also, you can't use this website, especially this board, as a sample size of the internet and for those who are actively involved or attempt to be actively involved in situations like these. While, I admit, in recent times I have become rather antagonistic because quite honestly, I find myself often clashing view points with people here when I do post here in ways that I don't find very helpful or beneficial to overall conversation, I do find that in general people on this board are less likely to jump to conclusions and generate their own ideas based on more than the first thing they see. Not ALL members mind you, but I'd say a lot of them who care enough to post.

I'd also want to say that going from 1M to like 800K subs is not all of the story. Yeah he still has a lot of subs, but the whole ordeal basically caused him to stop uploading for months. That's a lot of revenue and good will he has to try to rebuild. He might never get to a point where we can be rely on just being a youtuber ever again. Now, do I think that's going to be the case? Probably not. But, a lot of the youtubers and internet personalities I watch have spoken out about just how much work actually goes into making their videos and how, while they love what they do, just how important it is to have consistent uploads etc. Not saying that some people can't just upload whenever and still do well (look at JonTron) but he's a pretty rare case.

Like I know this is not an apples to apples comparison but the whole he should have not made the blog because of the potential of underaged persons coming into it and shifting all the responsibility in that aspect to him when it does happen to be very flimsy. Dont get me wrong, I think it was a dumb idea in the context of who he was as an internet figure, and something most people would not do, and something that in his case should have not done. but maybe not something nornal people should not do.

But take say youtube for example or what going on with internet copyright as a whole. The resounding creator sentiment and those concerned with virtual liberties are troubled that the worrying shifting of the blame to the platform (like YouTube, but also facebook, twitter, Instagram, any place where user generated content can be found) instead of bad actors or just those who willingly choose to ignore the "do not pass go, do not collect" cards.

Why are is there such a mindset that whenever any form of decent evidence comes out or personal recounts by persons who were linked to cases like these that might refute claims by the accusers, or even just something that might point to maybe not everything is here, is always met with "its still somehow his fault"? Its fucking sickening.

This is why cancel culture is so bad. Not that they are drawing attention to important issues that need to be addressed, but that the need to make a point... an example... is so great that they are willing to destroy people who might not fit their belief system or they (the ones who "cancel") just dont even bother to check up on... hey are these initial accounts straight type deal.

Look at like ghost busters reboot and when James Rolfe did his non review. He was blasted by people for being sexist etc. And while not exactly "cancel culture" exactly it was very clear that a lot of outlets that reported on the video either didn't watch it or just chose to ignore the actual content. Like the whole thing blew over for him mainly because AVGNs good will is very strong, and that James has always done a lot to try to stay out of drama and tries to keep his work separate from personal life. But for a brief moment in time, people, celebrities, "news sites" were so ready to have a dictionary example of a "problem with today's society" that they targeted one of the, especially among creators themselves, most beloved and respected internet personalities ever.

okay so i saw the video and like I do think the case he has is well presented and he shows screencaps, circumstantial stuff, and draws attention to the reliability of the accusers etc.

But also if i had legal advice to stay quiet for months to build a case while my career just suffers I'd think about getting a different lawyer. The only way this works as like a push at best for him is if he managed to get a 100% undeniable he has been targeted or used as a way to get more clicks or something etc AND virtually every major channel that also believed the accusations publicly apologized. Jared has basically 0 reliability with anyone who thinks the accusation is true and even if overwhelming evidence that it's not was put in front of them they would not change their minds. It would take other people coming out that they do trust that would need to happen.

I mean, if it was legal council that gave him this advice, I don't want to tell someone who has a law degree how to do their job, but anyone who knows anything about internet culture can see that not saying anything is probably a bad idea.

Yeah but in this case is now since Disney basically made most of that EU (now legends) non canon they have been relying on these things a little more (think clone wars tv series).

What's more confusing is that its not always clear if they even know what they want to count as canon or not

There are apparently supplemental material like comics and books etc that have origin stuff etc. Which has become somewhat common for mega franchises, but also somewhat annoying.

Its disjointed probably because jj Abrams apparently had plans for the future and then he didn't do the second movie. Not saying he would have made a great movie but he had a vision apparently. There are of course other factors.

Also, not sure how much this has been touched on but the canon has been slowly adding more and more legends elements and story lines and I would not be surprised if this movie did more of that.

Araburu Kisetsu no Otome-domo

I'm watching it and I'm not sure how seriously I'm supposed to take things in it. It almost plays like a parody of a coming of age story because of how ridiculous the characters act overall. Like imo she has a hard time blending together the comedy and drama in a way she wants to and this has shown in a lot of works she's touched. I mean, think of like Kiznaiver or Dragon Pilot as pretty prime examples of this. But even stuff that she helped on that I really like (such as Toradora and Sakurasou) also suffer here.

TBF, I don't know the extent of her influence on some of the stuff she's down.

Gameplay wise it's great.

but narrative wise it's pretty boring. None of the characters really hit home. There are some good points in the character missions, but a lot of the time you just go around from marker to marker. The world does not seem as well connected as they did in the first 3 games.

It's been a long time since I've played the game. I know I have materialess files with them dead (which is basically opening with limits, feeding hero drinks etc.) I also know I used a counter attack method (which involves stacking Counter-Attack + Mime on a character that has high damage and just watching them slash things up.) If your damage is not quite good enough to kill in a round you'll probably need a Final Attack + Pheonix on someone.

Lucky 7s work also with someone like Barret (who i think has the most hits out of any limit break on his Level 4). But I never liked trying to manipulate HP bars like that.

There is a cooldown period before they can actually air things iirc. Also, there was already 0 chance they'd get their own shows in phase 4 basically.

It's conjecture, but it's likely Spiderman was not mentioned purely because that a deal was not met. That and there might have been other factors (like Sony wanting to announce something first etc).

As for the Fox stuff, that's simply because it's still too early to introduce them beyond just saying "we are working on it)

It's been very clear that Marvel has been trying to move Spiderman into a bigger role within the MCU (this being a smart move is debatable) but before the MCU he was far and away the most popular Marvel character. I mean, the movies basically gave him access to Stark technology now, losing him makes a pretty glaring hole in the overall story. I'm also pretty sure that Kraven the Hunter was indeed the planned villain for spider man 3.

There was a chance, that despite that he's not actually on the team in the comics, he might have been in plans for something like Young Avengers given his age and that he's been established. This is something that would obviously come post Phase 5 (you have to introduce the fantastic 4 first), but I could see it happening.

Also, on Sony spiderman movies.

I think most people know I really like the original run (at least 1 and 2) and I consider Spiderman 2 to be on of the best superhero movies ever made. However, 3 and the Andrew Garfield ones were not good. I understand the team that would be behind the next one would be different but i don't have a lot of faith right now. I kind of agree with Ulti on into the spiderverse too. I thought it was fun to watch, but I was not completely blown away.

yeah I thought it was pretty bad. needed more actual pokemon battling instead of the weird roger rabbit feel it was going for.

What would more battling actually accomplish? Seems like just more padding to a movie that needed to be cleaned up a bit in other areas. I mean the movie is basely loosed on an adventure game where you talk to people (and pokemon) to solve mysteries.

I would also not be surprised if Nintendo had some stipulations on what they could do with the pokemon and that it made it difficult to have a lot of good battles.

Let's say you put a cherry pie on pizza dough and serve it like that. Can you unequivocally call it a pizza?

What if someone doesn't like this "cherry pie pizza" but does like "apple pie pizza". Do they like pizza or apples?

Anything is an all or nothing so I could literally put any food on top of a pizza styled dough and serve it and call it a pizza. Oh but you could say but pie is not a topping. How is that any different than me saying that you can't simply call pizza dough with anything on it a pizza?
