I dated a stripper in college, and yea strip clubs aren't as glamorous as people make them out to be (well, maybe the high-end ones, but not the ones near me). The girl was also in a bad place mentally since she hated her job and was only doing it because she had no idea what she wanted to do with her life. Ended up being why we broke up since we were in completely different head spaces.

Thankfully she quit shortly after and went to hair dresser school. She ended up opening her own shop years later.

Giving up your parental rights is already a thing. But rights are separate from financial obligations, which aren't usually terminated unless the child is being adopted.

The UK isn't the same as everywhere.

Also our system is pretty fucked up. Men can choose to have no rights to their children (or not be told they can have them) but be forced to be obligated to them regardless. If you're going to force somebody to be obligated, you should give them the rights expected from that obligation.

That's how it is in the US. Judges generally rule based on what's in the best interest of the child, not the convenience of the parents. It's rare for them to decide that stopping child support payments are in a child's best interest. At the same time, the judge can also decide it's best for the child not to see the non-custodial parent.

The problem is thats not always true. The system leans heavily in favor of women. Not always in favor of the child. They may think its the best choice, but its not always the case. That being said, I dont think they should be forced to pay if they have no rights over the child. Just like in an adoption. But I do think that if they are forced to pay, they should have more rights and such. But as I said, I do believe that either parent should be able to not pay child support if they give up all rights of the child to the other parent...

If you want really messed up, my father was paying child support to my mom for 2 years while I was living with him, and my mom only had "visitation" for 4 hours a week. And it wasn't a small amount either, it was like $500 a month (which I think was about 1/4 of his paycheck). That was on top of the $250 a month he had to pay in alimony.

Pretty much. Right now divorce law (barring a pre-nup) says everything starts at 50-50 and is negotiated after that. Now imagine you have polygamy. Is it 33-33-33? Does the person divorcing get 50 from both spouses, making it 25-25-50? Do they only want to divorce one spouse but not the other? Just sounds like a legal nightmare.

Old games tended to tie framerates to CPU speeds, so once faster CPUs came out they ran too fast to be playable. Oddly enough, the "turbo" button that used to come on 286, 386 and 486 computers wasn't to make your CPU faster, but to slow it down so that it functioned more akin to a 8088.

Genesis, despite the fact that I think the SNES is the best system ever, I was always envious of the kids who had a Genesis. Given that the Turbo Graphix 16 was around at the same time, us early 90's kids were spoiled.

I could never get into the N64, even the "best" games didn't interest me at all. Only ones I marginally enjoyed was Zelda 64 and Majora's Mask, but I never had any desire to go back and play them again.

Not completely, the Community flair is not a blanket "I can post anything I want on here" flair, it is just a topic that, while not entirely related to the board, is a topic that relates to the community. For example:

Posting a topic about the Switch on the PS4 board while using the community flair: Off-topic

I know there is a topic somewhere that goes into more detail, but that is the gist of it.

I never give them money because I have no idea what they are going to use it for. Last thing I want is for the money to be used to buy some drugs that they ultimately OD on. That said, if I am on my way to lunch I will usually offer to buy them some food. At least then I know what they are getting, and if they really need help they will gladly accept.

Looks cool, but I would rather stick with the original. As odd as it sounds I like my phones/laptops/portables bulky so the original switch is perfect for me. Plus while I almost never play in docked mode I would certainly like the option. Shame they couldn't fit an HDMI port on the bottom so you could at least plug it into your TV.

Still, seems like a great alternative, especially since it is $100 cheaper.

Missing out if all you do is fry a egg buddy.

I mean we do other things with them as well (scramble, omelette, quiche, etc.) but fried is the most common because it is the quickest. If it takes me longer then 5 minutes to cook and eat my breakfast, then I can't eat breakfast.

I use it for:
- Hot beverages
- Noodles, Pasta, Rice and so on.

Basically anything that wants hot water added. The couscous I eat just requires hot water added and left to sit for 3 minutes so it's much more convenient. I like options.

Again, hot beverages aren't really something I like. As for the other stuff, I have a rice cooker, and you can do pretty much anything in that. Plus it has a timer so I can set it to cook while I am at work and come home to freshly made rice/pasta/quinoa/soup/whatever.

Gauntlet actually looks cool. It looks like a game that would've been on my wishlist before I purged it (it was getting out of control).

Gauntlet is fun, but you need a good party to play with. Playing alone kind of sucks because most of the game is spec'd for a party of 4, so you are going to be dying a lot.

Most of the times I don't need to be.

At my last job when someone was fired, unless they did something severe like try to assault another employee or some severe sexual harassment, it took about 2 years for someone to be fired. Usually it was about a year for them to be put on "probation", then another year of them not showing any improvement before they were let go. And the whole time they were on probation other employees had to fill out reports describing everything they were doing wrong and if they were making efforts to correct their problems.

After that much scrutiny and involving that many people, someone is going to talk and the gossip is going to spread around until everyone knows.

Free community college and transfer out saves thousands on what you'd have to pay back in financial aid. Hard to go wrong there

I love my community college where I started at and have quite a history with. I've known the head of the program for over 20 years now. I plan on teaching a few classes once I'm done for extra income

If it weren't for community college I would still have student loans instead of being able to pay them all off a few years after I graduated. The transfer program at mine was really nice to, basically just a checklist of classes I needed to complete then I was automatically enrolled in my 4 year school once they were done. Didn't need to re-apply or anything.

Honestly if you want great root beer, just get some Zatarain's or Cook's extract and make it yourself. Super easy to make and way better then the bottled stuff.

Given the timeline of how things happened and when he went away, I would hope he just realized he needed to stay away for a few days and take a breather. He was getting modded close to once a week and it eventually caught up to him by getting warned. Hopefully when/if he comes back he decides to lay off a bit and be more like the Sunny who used to not get moderated that much.

Sunshine, I just did not like the flood mechanics at all. Close second to 64, but I can forgive it given it was one of the first 3D platformers. It just hasn't aged well (not graphics wise, controls and mechanics).

Building up skills that way makes it an action RPG and not a stealth game like the other titles. Except Origins of course.

The two genres aren't mutually exclusive. You can have an action RPG that is also a stealth game. If anything Origins and Odyssey are more stealth then the earlier games because they actually include more ways to hide yourself then earlier games.

I didn't care to watch Captain Marvel because I just don't like overpowered super heroes, and Captain Marvel is so powerful she makes Superman look like tissue paper in a rain storm.

The thing thats important to remember is that shes overpowered in human / earth terms. But most of the people she faces are way more powerful than anything weve seen from earth. Thats her purpose. Shes not an Earth Superhero and shes not even really an Avenger. She deals with otherworldly stuff

Which is kind of my point, she is so powerful they need to invent things that are ever increasingly more powerful to give her a challenge. It is the same reason I don't like Dragon Ball Z (which come to think of it, is very similar to Captain Marvel in a way...) but like the original Dragon Ball. In Dragon Ball Goku was always super powerful, but the challenge came from actually learning techniques and how to counter his opponents. In Z, he would just morph into the next level of Super Saiyan.

The iteration of Captain Marvel (or I guess more specifically Carol Danvers) I liked was the one in Jessica Jones, because they made her more human.

Technically no, my "workplace" is actually rather small and although we have a full sized fridge/freezer we wouldn't have room for any vending machines or the like. For reference, the office is basically a Supercuts with 44 cubicles instead of hair cutting stations.

That said:

1) The main area upstairs (the company we contract for) has a mini-mart where you can buy snacks, sandwiches, and the like. We get access there anyways and most people have spending accounts to the mart.
2) The office is in the same plaza as a Target, so barring #1 some people just walk over to Target for snacks.
3) We get free food at least once a week (from customers or the higher ups) and there are buckets of candy all over the office, so if you are looking for a quick snack you usually don't have to pay for it.
