New Vegas is easily the best of the Bethesda Fallouts. I'd argue it's about on par with Fallout 1 and 2 in terms of raw cRPG affability.

I wouldn't exactly call NV a Bethesda game, as this one was merely published by Bethesda, but developed by Obsidian. It also involved some people who worked on the original 2 Fallout games, which is why NV certainly feels a lot more like a Fallout game in terms of lore and general attitude than the Bethesda-developed Fallouts.

I also really like how that despite the karma system, morality in this game isn't always black and white, and the characters are rarely comically good/evil (like in F3). It's really more about motivation Other RPG devs should learn from that.

While I'm ok with people identifying themselves as whatever the hell they feel like, I sometimes think there are quite a few people who (erroneously) believe that not sharing stereotypical qualities of a gender excludes you from being that gender, i.e.: "Hmm, I don't think I'm like most men I personally know, so that must mean that on the inside I'm not really a man, right? So I guess that must make me a woman."

I find myself replaying it every year since it has a lot replay value, an vault worth of mods at nexusmods.com, and I'm simply a huge fan of the Fallout games (the REAL ones, not that Bethesda-developed crap called Fallout 3 & 4).

One thing particular I love about NV is the freedom. Even though there's an allignment system, it really doesn't matter what faction you join forces with or what you decide to do.
The game is made in such a way that there is always a way to progress the main story (even if you decide to go on a random killing rampage).

Turning off Wild Wasteland and not playing Old World Blues helps to avoid most of the goofyness.
And don't forget this series takes place from the perspective of how people in the 1950s would perceive the future.

I've met people who do that in their late seventies and early eighties who come off as more energetic than people in their early seventies who haven't done shit since retiring.
This only convinces me to keep my mind focused on something, even when I don't have to.

One more reason for humanity to embrace itself with technology, not even kidding.
Assuming humanity keeps on surviving, adapting and developing, I think there will be a point where our slowly evolving biology cannot keep up with our relatively exponential growth of our sentience and development.
Eventually the only sustainable way for humanity to survive is unifying itself with cybernetics or even full-on AI.

I digress from the topic, but it had to be said, as I think a gradual decrease in testosterone is one of many examples of human biology degrading over time.

I say more unobtainable in the sense that although they are getting paid more and holding higher positions, they still tend to prefer to date men who are of higher status (or if on easy mode, of equal status) than them whether they deny it or not. Its most likely all subconscious.

[...]

Just makes it more harder for dudes these days that they just tend to give up. Then being demonized for simply being a dude on top of that. Tbh, dudes just kind of feel like they lost their purpose or dont know what is the correct way to be a male these days since there are some conflicting messages. One hand they are told to give up the power positions but then on the other hand that seems to be what women are subconsciously drawn to being attracted to.

This hits home a lot for me. I've come to realize how true this is lately, especially in the dating scene.
While I tend to avoid the blantantly superficial women, it's clear that the vast majority of women prefer taller men (as if that somehow defines the ability to protect someone), someone who is decisive, dominant, radiates confidence, never cries (except maybe if someone close died), and of course is financially stable.

Compare that to what men usually look for in a woman (pretty, sweet, loyal), it's often too much to ask if a man seeks similar things in a woman as what a woman seeks in a man. Basically, it almost feels like a lot of women want a man who is 'better' and 'higher up' than them, and indeed a 'provider'. I've noticed even women who sicerely seem feministic appear to prefer this.
While I may be a bit embittered about it, it's just frustrating how there seems to be no right option for men to behave, especially since (as several people itt mentioned) there seems to be little societal interest in psychological care for men in this regard.

Add that social pressure to the financial pressure that has grown heavier over the past few decades, and it becomes more clear how that combined pressure may grow to be too much for men to bear.

Personally I frequently feel a lot of rage and frustration about matters like these, especially since I have a low-paying job for which I'm overqualified. I do make ends meet (just) and apply to better jobs (for which I am academically qualified, but lack experience for). I've set up my own business, which doesn't generate a lot of income, but I hope at least this builds some form of relevant experience for future jobs.

I don't actually feel the desire to off myself, though I sometimes contemplate it as a way out if my money runs out in the future, when I consider that things like retirement and social safety nets could be down the drain in a few decades.

Just had to get that rant of my chest. Good topic, even if it is gloomy.
