Nono route beated. This was a change from the last two character routes, oddly enough. Here the serious/plot parts were mostly pretty bad while the daily life parts were more interesting. The drama feels entirely manufactured and unearned. The twist that Nono is Senri is a good one. I didn't figure it out until shortly after the route started, but it makes sense with everything we've learned. Unfortunately the route didn't do anything interesting with it. The conflict all came from a few separate things:

1. Nono kept saying family members never lie.
2. She kept lying even once the truth was out

And... that's really it. The truth wasn't particularly world-changing, and if she'd just been honest (or hadn't gone on about that 'family never lies' thing, there wouldn't have been any problem. In that sense, I liked the ending. She tells the truth, and Takuru says he's fine with it and it doesn't change anything, which... duh. Obviously. Should've happened earlier. Also Senri's design is way better than Nono's, so the change is a big plus. Only part that was unfortunate was Serika's death ;_;. Still, it was nice to have an ending that could actually be considered a happy end in some way for once. Just wish the drama that got us their didn't feel so contrived.

Finished with the Uki route. The ordinary story parts of this were worse than Arimura's route, unfortunately. The serious parts were good at least, rare as they were, and the endings were pretty nifty, if dark.

I feel like this game should have more to say about what the Chaos;Head characters are up to. You'd think they would've stopped the new murders if they were around Shinjuku...

Watched Fate/kaleid liner PrismaIllya Movie: Oath Under Snow . Wasn't really that into it for most of the movie. The first 2/3 or so is fairly boring, and we didn't really need Shirou back as protagonist (plus, the villains are lame too). Their motivations are a real stretch. But the last fight is long and really awesome and one of the coolest Fate/anime things I've seen. Felt great story, character, and animation-wise. Just about redeemed the movie.

Valve also takes increasingly smaller cuts as your game sells more, down to 20% in the most extreme cases.

...which basically only affects AAA devs. You have to sell millions of copies for that to matter. Honestly, Valve taking a measure like that only pissed me off more. It's the indie devs that are barely scraping by, not the massive publishers that sell millions of copies.

I think Epic really pulled a Mad Men and focused on one specific, undeniable area/statistic that got a lot of people talking while actively trying to avoid all other comparisons/conversation.

Well yeah, because they suck by most other measures. A lot of indie game companies can't even get their games on Epic because of their stupid rules. But I (and others in the industry) really want Valve to decrease the cut they take. It'd make a huge difference to us.

It's basically just maximum sleazy business and people are upset because games and developers they care about are being dragged into the shitshow, forcing them to either wait up to a year to play or give in and support Epic's gross tactics and bad platform.

At least less of your money goes into Epic's pockets than Valve's! I really hope Valve starts giving developers better percentages at some point.

Finished Arimura's route. Not quite what I expected, but not bad? The style felt different, and it wasn't quite as enjoyable as the main stuff, but it didn't really have anything I actually disliked. Most of the scenes were pretty nice. One of the things I noticed about the first route is that they tried really hard to make Takuru not have any romance with anyone, to an extent that felt almost unrealistic sometimes, so this was a fun change of pace in that sense. And the ending was certainly quite something. Wonder how the remaining content is...

How much of the game is left, btw?

I finish most games I play, but yeah, it's good to drop stuff every now and then. Most recent games I dropped were Hitman season 1 and The Witcher 3. I really wish playing Witcher 3 felt better, but moving around and doing things in that game just feels disgusting.

I actually liked Serika the whole game, pretty much! It's nice how adventurous and supportive of Takuru she is.

Hoping Mio gets some more development. Of all the cast, she probably feels the most incomplete at this point.

Beat the first ending (seems like you always get the same ending the first time no matter what choices you make...?). Mostly good stuff there. The Serika stuff was all explained pretty well, and the twists basically all made sense by the end. Wasn't really a fan of Sakuma, but eh. Starting on the Arimura route(?) now, and it's off to a good start, at least. Reminds me of when I had hope for the game.

Other than the characters, the main flaw of the game in general is that it's way too long. There are a lot of ridiculously verbose sequences with text that doesn't say anything, and there are way too many flashbacks. Sometimes to the same thing over and over again, like that Senri sequence in the hospital. You don't need to show that to us 20 times (I counted), game!

Wow... I totally was not expecting NWO to take down Scourge! It makes End of the Raging Waves look better! ...granted, NWO probably has been getting stronger each round. Somehow I doubt that Full Bass can beat Scourge. Crabulon vs. NWO might prove interesting... NWO might even look like the slight favorite at this point. I thought it should be doing better in the "who will win" poll....

I assume NWO gets a good chunk of anti-votes every match from people who hate the vocals, so its earlier opponents might look stronger than they are.

Which is exactly the same as Square's conference but it had FFVII

Except that Nintendo's conference was 40 minutes rather than 80. Nintendo had way better pacing here.

Or maybe not. In my previous post, I meant she was better since she was dead, but then she still sends that fucking letter. What an awful person. It's like her goal in life is to make Takuru miserable.

Feels like the game just keeps getting worse as it goes along. Nothing that happens really makes logical sense. Just seems poorly written in general. At this point, I dislike most of the cast, with Serika as a major exception, though she's still poorly written too. Her power should've made it very easy to kill Sakuma (in his sleep, for example), and yet she didn't because...?

Playing CSIII without Turbo mode is going to be an issue, I think. Some of those sweeping scenery shots in cutscene are already too long as it is at 2x speed. Battle moves just fine at 4x, though.

You'll still have a turbo-esque feature in cutscenes (L1), assuming NISA doesn't take it out for some reason. It does lag considerably on my PS4 normal, but yeah.

and i mean turbo battle has always been silly given that you can skip *every single* animation in battle but what do i know.

Turbo's nice in battles since it auto-skips all animations while you hold it, but yeah, shouldn't be too big a deal for battles.

Running on the map would be the main thing slowed down by no Turbo. The one big area in CS1 was lame even with the turbo IMO, and the games have lots of running back and forth in general.

Yeah, I'm worried that CS3 is going to be a big disappointment with no turbo mode. Having that is probably a big reason I liked 1 and 2 so much more than the Sky/Crossbell games.

Yeah, most of the stuff you'd wonder about is explained in the Crossbell games, not the Sky games. There's still plenty of stuff that hasn't been explained even if you've played all 7 games, though. Personally the lack of focus on witches annoyed me most in Cold Steel, since what they did show us was quite intriguing.

Battles in CS are much faster, since you can skip every attack animation and you have access to 4x turbo speed.

I liked the Cold Steel games a lot more than the three Sky games. Sky has some specific elements that stand out more, but actually playing CS is much more enjoyable.
