Woo that attempt had a lot going right for me, namely mace (+bottle) shop literally dropping 1 zone from my starting point which was then like 2-3 space away from the Lost Woods where I could easily farm diamonds for it. Then wasn't too much trouble finding the fairy, first one was the titanium upgrade I wanted.

I just tried it with Zelda (reallllly botched my attempt half-way augh) and yeah final boss is the same with Link/Zelda/Cadence all controllable again

but oh god I didn't realize each character has its own leaderboard

[unlockable spoilers? for the Deku Seeds reward] I had to check Yves's leaderboard oh man there's only 4 (yes obv Spooty), but the fastest is 5.5 hours with avg ~300 game-overs

OK I play on fixed-beat mode, and I was having a good time when not all my buttons were bound, so I had "Wait one turn" buttons, but now all my keys are bound to items and I have no Wait button. Now I'm bummed.

Even as a lover of Crypt of the NecroDancer, I really didn't start enjoying the game until I found a war drum. It's actually one of my favorite items in Crypt, and it does wonders in CoH.

It was a lot of fun seeing items return from ND and gain new life in CoH

I thought it was funny that the flail is actually the whip and cat combined, and it's actually good!

There are several chests/pieces of heart that seem too high for me to access. I thought I needed the Cane of Somaria to get to them, but now that I have it that doesnt seem to work either. Is there a different item that lets you reach higher spots, or am I just being dumb about figuring out how to get them?

Rapier (especially plat or obsidian) + ring of courage is fun too. Not as flashy, but so strong and it's awesome to swap places with opponents while just absolutely stomping them

For most of the ones I was stuck on you needed to be clever about combining the cane of somaria/picking up and throwing the short block with the power glove (some of them were pretty tricky to figure out). There was also one where a block was on top of a pillar and I needed to set a bomb next to it to knock it off.

Aughhhh, finished my Link solo but what the fuck the game crashed as the score was being uploaded to the leaderboard

After beating the final boss it showed YOU WIN and my completion time in 48 minutes... then crashed. Load the game back up and my save file's time is at that 48 minutes but I have to beat the boss again which took an extra 3 minutes to my already finished completion time =/

Oh well still came in 2nd, and first place is 44 minutes anyways. Main time sink was that Gerudo Village was entirely blocked off except for one insanely specific path -- the small little L-path at the top of Lake Hylia was the only connection possible to Gerudo Village. Also wasn't nailing my beat combo so I had to farm rupees a bit for my endgame safety potions and for the Gerudo Amulet so that was unfortunate time killed, definitely could've taken 1st without those stumbles but I don't wanna try again for a whilee

did you check that you got each of the ones in a dungeon

also in Gerudo Village I'm not sure the one is marked, in the giant house where there's someone busy playing an instrument

also might be a mini-dungeon in one of the Lost Woods phases that don't show on the map

The Gerudo village one was my second to last piece. I double checked the dungeons and lost woods and it doesn't seem to be them... ugh

Woo beat my Zelda time from 40:18 to 37:36~ time for consecutive 1st places with all chara-.... nooooooooooooooo Klubbah re-attempted despite already being first and now it's 31:42... damn I'd have to give up my flail hunt to do that. Oh well.

Check the kakariko shop? But augh yeah I hate how not all pieces are on the map, I was sweeping all chests red and purple plus all stairs like a couple times before I gave up - then eventually finding it in that shop

1 pair of stairs that confused me was in death mountain that ended up being behind the water fall that you access by creeping around behind the "mountain" bit on the side with the Temple... was just a fairy fountain though

There is a lot of stairs in that Death Mountain segment

How much replayability does this game have? I'm only starting to dip my feet into Necrodancer but I can already see that it's basically endlessly playable thanks to All Zones mode, but based on what I've heard, Cadence of Hyrule seems like a more finite experience?

I've beaten the game maybe 20 times already not even counting my countless aborted attempts

like yeah the random world is comprised of similar set pieces shifted around, but it gives you a feel for coming up with a strategy of an efficient run while still remaining interestingly different playthroughs

That's not what makes Necrodancer so replayable though. It's the skill ceiling and optimization that it demands.

Yeah Im glad this game exists and that I have it but I definitely see myself going back to Necrodancer more often than to this game. This was a nice blend of Necrodancer stuff along with Zelda Randomizer (smart move by the team since theres pretty good overlap in those communities already) but ultimately I prefer the higher difficulty and faster pace of Necrodancer.
