Its a great introduction, foundation, and daily vocab practice. Im wary of audio books/courses that dont require engagement with the material, at least at low levels when its not a lot of comprehensible input. Assimil is fantastic, get it. Use it. Make an Anki deck for spaced repetition practice, it works. Slow German is a great podcast but not for immediate beginners. A2/B1 level id say. Listen to lots of German music. Look up and memorize the lyrics, and what they mean. Find some graded readers or other simple stories to read. Later, move on to actual books when appropriate.
