ennuigamer 03/06/20 9:11:59 PM #277 | Tmaster148 posted... I'm still aiming to get the 10th dorm (should have it on monday), but I thought the dorms scaled better in battery production. As I heard it from the experts, battery production really increases up to 5 dorms. After that, you get diminishing returns for each new dorm you add up to 10. What that all means is that getting all 10 dorms is ideal but not a necessity. It really ends up better for your friends, who can then get 10 batteries from you per day when they visit as well as fulfill one of the imposed requirements of other 10-dormers to add you in return (from my experience on the official Discord -- I have plenty of 10-dormer friends, so I prefer adding newbies to help them out). That's why they advise new players, especially F2P ones, to only get 4 or 5 dorms as you can comfortably get them and then move on to other stuff. "If you want to be absolutely certain you are getting every battery you possibly can every day, go for it, but make sure you're stocking all of your dorms with 5* furniture sets to maximize comfort levels via set bonuses. Having all ten dorms is just a luxury. Don't ignore more pressing infrastructure needs, like storage, when you're already good on number of dorms." ...is pretty much what I was told when I asked about the subject. --- Quality and convenience are rarely seen holding hands. ennuigamer 03/06/20 2:25:30 AM #271 | ![]() I got another Python after a ton of runs. I don't think I have it in me to get any more for this event. I farm more once CT is added to Campaign or another event, whichever comes first. Tmaster148 posted... isn't comfort levels in your dorms suppose to increase the batteries you get per day? I know the number of dorms increases the max amount of batteries the thing holds. But it seems like it takes ~3 days to fill up my battery device instead of the 2 days it was taking before despite my dorms being all maxed out in comfort. It does make you get more batteries. Here's the excerpt from the wiki: https://en.gfwiki.com/wiki/Dormitory The capacity of the condensor is based on the amount of the dorms players unlocked. Capacity = Amount of unlocked dorm x 80. Uncollected batteries can be stored in condensor until it reaches its limit. Aside from the formula, there is a randomization factor involved. You won't get the same amount of batteries all of the time. Edit: I recommend reading this regarding dorms and battery production. It even has an embedded calculator: https://gfl.matsuda.tips/post/what-happens-in-the-dorms-stays-in-the-dorms I have 10 dorms with most at 15k Comfort. One is at 18k with the lowest at 12k. ennuigamer 03/03/20 10:05:02 PM #260 | Tmaster148 posted... That did make the White Nyto fight pretty easy. Although getting all the way down to white nyto is still kinda annoying. Those laser mechs are just hard to kill quickly with their special shield up. For the jumpers/Rodeleros, I usually bait them by moving a unit up close (they target the closest doll) to get them to do their laser attack on that row, moving anyone else that would be hit out of the way, and then move the bait when I see them start their jump (they duck down a bit in Bullet Time before jumping). It's the gundams/Doppelsoldner I find really annoying from the White Faction. You pretty much want them dead right away. I tweaked the route a bit where I deployed a second dummy echelon after capturing that one heliport and killing off the last enemy in my way that doesn't drop her. By doing that, I was able to get five checks out of the six instead of three and was still able to have enough points to get back and properly withdraw before restarting (saved a lot of rations that way). I was lucky - it only took 24 attempts before hoxy shotgun dropped. Now I'm farming for A-91 using this older guide from when the event was on CN: https://youtu.be/-JzCggx4h90 After I get her, all that's left for me is Mk 12 and Python for event dolls. By the way, for those who still haven't found a boss to fight for the daily crates, there's a battle with Scarecrow about halfway through the first chapter. When you're given a certain choice -- fight all enemies -or- walk 4 spaces to capture enemy control post -- do the latter. The map is incredibly easy (Scarecrow has 8000 power) and you only have to walk four spaces away, so you can map out the route and let the automatic movement stuff take care of the rest. Don't worry about the red helipad nearby spawning enemies and snatching HQ from you...that doesn't happen, at least if you finish as quickly as possible. Yep. That's the recommended stage for farming Crates. It's called Farewell, Scarecrow. To backtrack, there's a rewind icon on the world map you click. If you ignore that and just beat the mission the other specified way, that doesn't unlock anything. Kinda stupid, and something I had to learn early on. It makes sense in the context of the narrative. ennuigamer 02/10/20 1:56:00 PM #148 | Now I understand why older server players have been complaining about the recent event, Polarized Light. The difficulty of the battles has been nerfed into the ground. From what I've been watching, even the enemies and bosses in Chapter 3 are complete pushovers and don't require anything close to a lv90 echelon...or even a full echelon. I hope Ch. 4 and 5 are different. This event was touted as us seeing "the full strength of KCCO." It would be a big letdown if there isn't an appropriate level of difficulty to match the advertising. I'm also wondering if the rumor of why this was done is true, that it was because of complaints from vocal casual players about the difficulty. Even if it were true, the difficulty didn't need to be lowered that much. ennuigamer 01/10/20 3:34:32 AM #58 | Regarding the whole Honkai Impact collab thing, I'm sure there are some players here that are unfamiliar with why there are no plans to run it outside CN. I'm sure you guys know about Honkai Impact 3rd, right? The collab was about the 2nd game in the series (you can still play it, even in English, under the name Guns GirlZ - Mirage Cabin/Honkai Gakuen). After the collab was launched on CN, there was a falling out between the two companies, which resulted in the owners of Honkai annulling the agreement and pulling the plug on the possibility of the collab taking place on any other server. It's not discussed but it most likely will never be run again, on any server, unless the two companies make up and form a new agreement. Honkai 2 is also a pretty old game by this point, so there's that to consider. The other major upset regarding a collab was with SEGA on doing a Valkyria Chronicles collab. Sunborn/Mica Team had all of the event assets done and was ready to launch but were having trouble regarding the contract with SEGA over "penalties for violating the contract". SEGA had it written that, if they violated the contract, they only had to pay a penalty once and could still continue under the agreement (which would effectively screw Mica Team over had it stuck). Mica Team asked them over and over to change the contract to "have to pay up every time the contract is violated" and, while SEGA agreed, they never amended the contract to reflect that and kept dicking around with Mica Team. Right before the collab was to launch, Mica/Sunborn had to pull the plug on it due to the whole matter to protect themselves since SEGA wouldn't change the contract to more fair terms. As I've heard it, a lot of big companies over there pull stunts like this a lot with their contracts, trying to create one-sided agreements instead of playing fair. That was back in late 2018. Instead of that event, Mica Team got the rights to re-run the Guilty Gear x Blazblue collab and went with that on the older servers as a filler. The Valkyria Chronicles collab is also known as "the collab we don't talk about". ennuigamer 01/10/20 2:35:09 AM #56 | I'll just copypasta the QnA section here to save on scrolling. Q: Yuzhong, why dont you do more of these streams? A: Honestly, streaming is really stressful. But I really like doing these live streams and the player feedback and live interaction helps us a lot as game developers. We also really like teasing players with unreleased content. If theres more content, well try to announce them better, and Ill definitely try to be in these streams more often. Q: We really loved the minigame from previous events; the bike chase in Isomer and the danmaku game in Shattered Connexion. Will there be more of this? A: We add these minigames for fun because theyre great. We use them to gauge player interest in new mechanics, especially since they can be less stressful than normal GFL combat. We know some of them dont appeal to all players; some commanders had trouble with the danmaku mechanic since they arent used to the controls, so future minigames will try to strike a better balance between interesting gameplay and difficulty. Its honestly incredibly difficult to make all of these happen in GFL Q: The friend system sucks! What are you gonna do with it? A: We tried to fix this with the Theater system and it didnt work. We know its a commonly requested improvement. Well try again this year; Griffin is a PMC after all, we want players to feel like theyre actually in a multiplayer game with access to other commanders forces at some point. The biggest challenge is making this work without making it something that adds an extra daily burden - the coop aspect should be optional. Of course we have to think about commanders that dont like socializing in a web game - so structurally, most things will remain the same as they have always been. GFL wont turn into an MMO overnight or anything. Q: Can you give us access to more unconventional warfare mechanisms? I want to launch cyberattacks! A: We definitely like the idea, but this is honestly something thats incredibly difficult to develop. Our game already had tons of new systems added, like Fairies, HOCs, the new SF capture (Protocol Assimilation) mechanic, etc. Implementing a new feature can often be complex or incredibly confusing to players, and we dont want that to happen. For example, fairies are basically buff sticks, and most people understood that. The HOC system, on the other hand, was a headache and many players complained, so we heard that feedback and will not add problematic new mechanics that repeat the same mistake. Something thats more important to us is iterating the current system to make the core gameplay loop better. Q: Can you give us an in-game combat simulator so we dont have to actually deploy our teams to test the strength of our echelons? A: Were actually interested in developing a good simulation tool. Players who really like theorycrafting should definitely appreciate that. Q: The fixed Adjutant positioning sucks! Can we configure moving them? A: (Yuzhong) I asked for this feature before, I dont know why the programmers havent delivered it yet, since I totally agree and have wanted this for a while now. A lot of the T-Doll adjutant art would look much better if you can reposition them slightly based on background. Q: Can you add CV batches faster? A: Were trying to improve the contracting process with voice actors so that we can release new T-Dolls already voiced. Q: Can you add holiday events to story playback? A: We want to do this. Currently the playback is focused on story, but we hope that in the future these cutscenes can be played back as needed. Q: If we missed event fairies or event special equipment, is there any way for us to get it back? A: We really dont want to make these event-limited items extinct. There should be a way to eventually get them back, aside from things that are out of our control to add back in. (likely referring to Honkai Impact collab and other collab stuff) Q: Are there any plans to add a fairy enhancement pill? A: The current system is a bit confusing to new players. We know this is a problem, so itll be fixed! Were adding a new fairy during this Winter 2020 event that will provide massive EXP to any fairy you feed it to! Q: Are there any plans to use the Girls Frontline IP to release other games or content? A: I dont know how much I want to leak right now, but wait for the 5/2 GFL Shanghai Expo. Well retain the core elements like our unique gameplay style, the T-Dolls that everyone have come to love, and 2D and 3D content will both exist. Well have new games that, even for players who may not like the genre, should leave a powerful impression. Yuzhong says hes looking forward to announcing Girls Frontline 2. Q: Can you add the GFL WeChat stickers to the game? A: This year well try something like that. Especially with the upcoming revamp to the friend system thatll make it easier to chat with other commanders, this will be something a lot of players should appreciate. {skipped a question about merch} Q: New costumes for our lovely protagonists please? A: Yeah we kinda knew that their lack of costumes is a problem. I dont want to say this is impossible, but I also dont want to say theres a possibility. We need a good opportunity to implement them, of course. Q: How are you planning to end the story? Whats gonna happen to Griffin? Will the world end? Is this a Bad End/True End sort of timeline divergence? Is Bakery Girl canon or will you retcon it? A: Honestly we planned to end GFL at Chapter 10. But everyone loved the game so much we had to keep going. What I can tell you is that Griffin wont be totally wiped out, of course. I feel very strongly about the story and Ill tell you right now that commanders wont need to deal with a complete tragedy. The story will be logical, of course. Im not going to railroad it towards an ending; wherever the story goes, itll go. Q: Will you add a rescue pity system? A: This has been a commonly requested feature to make sure commanders dont get so unlucky they fail to get a T-Doll drop despite farming a lot. Our drop rate is low, so sometimes players who dont get a drop for many more clears feel bad. We have good news. Every time you fight a mob eligible for limited drop, youll earn some of a new type of event-limited currency. With enough of this currency, you can trade for one of the events limited drop T-Dolls, guaranteed. --- Quality and convenience are rarely seen holding hands. Looks like I don't need to write out a bullet list. All the info from the livestream is in this thread: https://community.gamepress.gg/t/cn-winter-2020-event-leaks-datamines-livestream-discussion/59275 The SF capture system is officially called "Protocol Assimilation". The codes for stuff presented in the stream only work on the CN client, not EN. These are the new hardcaps for storage I mentioned earlier. You can go past that buy buying resources or receiving them via awards and other sources. Going those routes, you can go into the millions with your resources. The livestream presented a ton of new info. I'll go through it tonight and make a bullet point list of highlights. I'll share that with anyone who is interested for those who don't like to hunt through a pile of links. The older servers did get an increase to the storage hardcap that you can buy recently. ennuigamer 12/18/19 9:34:57 PM #217 | Calwings posted... But the way GFL's resource system works, it's much easier to stock up for a massive amount of pulls than other gacha games. So even if the rates are slightly lower, the fact that you get far more pulls in GFL balances it out. On top of that, the only time-limited characters in GFL are earned through drops. Most other gacha games have characters that are only around for a short time, so you're pressured by the threat of never being able to get them again into spending more money to get them while you can. GFL doesn't do that. Any character in the production pool will always be there. That's why I said "it's fair enough, all things considered." In Azur Lane, Cubes and Coins, what you use to build ships, are easily farmable for lots of pulls too but you get more than double the rates for rares compared to GFL. That's why I used that game as an example of "generous," as it goes a step beyond being merely "fair." All in all, I like both games and think they each have their own unique merits. Calwings posted... On the flip side though, most gacha games have some sort of pity system where, after a certain number of pulls, you're guaranteed a pull of the highest rarity. GFL doesn't have anything like that, so it's always possible that you could fail to pull what you want, no matter how many pulls you save up. In one of the QnA sessions, the Sunborn representative said that there is a pity system in place but wasn't allowed to say any more on it. So we know that there is one in the game but there are no details on how it works. That is one thing I really like about this game: the community outreach in the monthly QnA sessions. The rep can't divulge much but you can get useful hints and morsels of info about what's likely coming soon. --- Quality and convenience are rarely seen holding hands. ennuigamer 12/18/19 8:14:21 PM #215 | Calwings posted... The system that actually has gameplay benefits (the T-Doll production system) is one of the most fair and generous ones that I've ever seen in a gacha game. I wouldn't go so far as to call the T-Doll gacha "generous" but I think it's fair enough, all things considered. The officially published rates for the rarity levels seem to be in the average range for a hero collector gacha. I would call Azur Lane's 7% SSR rate on the relatively generous side. The only time you'd see that in GFL's normal T-Doll production is during a general rate-up (6% to 7%, depending on the estimate). It can be tough to get those rarer than usual Dolls but you will get them eventually via rate-ups, rescue events, minor/major limited drops, and the True Core Mask...or you just happen to get lucky in your four daily pulls! The skin/furniture gacha is rough. I get that it's their main source of revenue for the game and all but I wish it was more forgiving -- either ease up on the skin drop rate some, have a clear pity system in place, give more Exchange Tickets, or make it a little easier to get Black Cards to get what you want...Or just go the Azur Lane route and put everything up for sale in the Shop to buy directly. Those are some of my ideas to make it a little more consumer-friendly. It's not the worst gacha I've come across but it could stand a little improvement and really make it a win-win for both sides. --- Quality and convenience are rarely seen holding hands. If they do, they should be fired for all the mistakes they let slip by. Then again, their whole QA team, if there is one, is on the sloppy side. There are a lot of things that should have been caught before being allowed out the door. It's probably my second biggest gripe with the game after the costume gacha.
