Daenerys probably decided to burn everyone because she realized that pretty much no one is on her side (save for her army, but soldiers don't make good company) and that everything she worked for was for nought. Jon rebuffed her advances, and even though he claimed he would be behind her, she already foresaw her ending. Her close allies would conspire against her and put Jon on the throne. Why would Westeros accept an outsider?

It was over. But she still needed revenge, and thus she burnt KL to a crisp. Idk if she has any intention of being a queen now. Maybe as a tyrant, but she's 99.9% likely to die.

Theyve been implying it as a possibility throughout the entirety of the show, but she would always prove them wrong. Her one true saving grace has always been her affinity towards those with no control/the downtrodden, you know, innocents. Shes been brutal and wrathful before, but this level of brutality specifically after the enemy surrendered within the last two episodes of the show is just really goddamn stupid.

Was it always in her nature though? Or was it bred through environment (the terrible circumstance, i.e--Jon's neglect, the death of Missandei, the death of her dragons, and the death of Jorah)?

I honestly feel so sad for Daenerys. I know everyone has gone "aha! So she's the final villain after all...!"

But wow, she was not treated well at all since birth. She had to overcome some helluva odds to survive and become the person we knew her as by season 7...until it all came to ruin this episode.

It's really a Shakespearean tragedy. Daenerys tried so much to break the wheel, and become someone her ancestor was not. Who's to blame for the ultimate outcome? Her nature? Her heritage? Jon Snow, the North? Westerosi?

Fucking hell mate.

awfully bold of you to suggest that the number of nobel laureates is a valid way to measure the intelligence of a country as a whole

(FYI I don't think IQ is a valid metric for that either)

My point is that intelligence means little if you can't actually output it into something notable. Granted, not everyone has to be a Chemist god, but if a country with such a high intelligence can't be creative and innovative enough to win a single Nobel prize then just says something about their "intelligence."

There's obviously more than one type of intelligence though. The ones Singaporeans are alleged to have don't seem to result in anything remotely worthy of notice to the world.

this reads like something I would come up with if someone asked me to write a caricature of eurocentrism

I like the part where you pretend the us doesnt have 50 times as many people and way more opportunities and institutions that make that possible.

Ireland: 13
Singapore: 0

Ireland has slightly less people. Ireland doesn't have any top 25 universities. Singapore does.

Ok, how about South Korea? They have fucking TWO! Just two.

No, but it makes you happier with diminishing returns in happiness. A person living comfortably with $100k a year is going to be much happier vs. a person making $20k a year and scrapping by life. The same person making $100k will probably be as happy if not maybe more than the person making $30 million a year.

My college Japanese teacher hated that movie and once went on a rant in class about it

If I remember right, in the real story the guy was British not American. Also I think he never actually did any fighting and was not a warrior. Samurai was also used as just a Title of nobility. I don't think he ever did battle.

There's far more significant problems. The Last Samurai gets nearly everything wrong about the samurai in the Meiji period. The film romanticizes the samurai to hell and back. And then makes them seem like they're fighting an evil, Western backed, and modern state. The samurai in reality were facing a class struggle. It was about maintaining their status as a warrior aristocracy, and keep their privileges--not about tradition vs. modernity.
