For example, 99% of romantic comedies are about a heterosexual man and a heterosexual woman. That's just how things are, it's normal. But if one is about someone gay then a lot of people make a fuss. For better and for worse. There are gay people who are happy because representation is essentially acknowledgement that they exist, and that it's perfectly fine that they do. They just want gay to be perfectly normal and mundane as being hetero is.
