here you go

I soloed a Deoxys-Attack yesterday. It was on a whim and I didn't know if I'd be able to manage (I don't quite have an optimal team), but I managed with 29 seconds left. Makes me wish I'd done more raids last week.

Very nice! I managed a solo too but it was a near thing. Most of my tyranitars have Smack Down because I don't want to switch it to bite and not be able to switch back (limited available moves are ass). It was electric typed too which didn't help.

My wife and I went around during everything except the Defense forme.

At approximately 10% odds for each regional you should have one of each within 10ish eggs, though realistically within 20. Shiny is another matter, but at least you can complete the dex entries

Friday:
17 Egg / 20 Gift

49) Munchlax
50) Elekid
51) Happiny
52) Farfetch'd (82%)
53) Bonsly (SHINY!) (89%)
54) Wynaut
55) Magby
56) Magby
57) Mantyke
58) Pichu
59) Happiny
60) Tyrogue
61) Azurill
62) Happiny
63) Kangaskhan (87%)
64) Happiny

Gifts given: 23.

So I'm at over half odds now without a shiny regional but I'm hopeful I'll land one this weekend. And my boy Bonsly is pretty legit! He's in the 1-2% hatch range right now so that part feels good.

5 Tauros (7.81%)
5 Farfetch'd (7.81%)
2 Kangaskhan (3.13%)
3 Mr. Mime (4.69%)

Totaling 23.44% regionals. Keep in mind that they should all be around 9-10% right now so that's disappointing to see. Oh and one more stat:

14 Happiny (21.88%).
Fourteen. This chick is supposed to be 8.5% and I'm pulling triple odds on one of the few 7k Pokemon that doesn't even have a chance to roll shiny. None of them have even been good. They only bright side is I have infinite candy to take my perfect Blissey to level 40 now I guess, but still way more than I need.

But here's my boy!

Regional Shiny Data FYI:

https://thesilphroad.com/science/quick-discovery/kanto-regional-shiny-rates/

At this stage, and considering our past experience, we can state that both encountering methods share the same rate. Aggregating data across all methods and species (including data where the method of encounter was undefined), we have amassed 3,227 encounters and 84 shinies, leading to a 99% confidence interval for the shiny rate of of 1 in 30 52. This confidence interval will continue to narrow over the coming days as more data is accumulated.

So 1 in 40~ that a regional will be shiny, and around a 40% chance the egg will have a regional. (Though only a 30% it will be for a region besides your own)

Tough odds. If it's 1::40 you would need to hatch 100 7k eggs on average to hatch 40 regionals to have 1 shiny regional.

The fact that the rope is typically only secured in the middle at the top makes the ladder game next to impossible until you have sufficiently practiced. In addition to the required skill it also helps to be a smaller person to mitigate the impact to slight changes to your center of gravity.

Mark Rober covered it a bit in one of his videos.

The part about the rope ladder starts around 6:51 but the entire video is worth a watch.

Is Yang replacing "Freedom Dividend" with "Democracy Dollars"???

No.

Freedom Dividend is UBI. The 1000/ month

Democracy dollars is a bonus 100 you can put to the politician of your choice.

From his website:

We need to diminish the influence that mega-wealthy individuals and companies have in our elections. While we must push for a Constitutional amendment to allow our campaign finance laws to properly limit the power that the top 1% have, we must act much faster to save our democratic processes. To do so, we must make it possible for all Americans to contribute to candidates they feel strongly about, in order to drown out the voices of the few who can spend millions of dollars to influence our politicians.

The easiest way to do this is to provide Americans with publicly funded vouchers they can use to donate to politicians that they support. Every American gets $100 a year to give to candidates, use it or lose it. These Democracy Dollars would, by the sheer volume of the US population, drown out the influence of mega-donors.

Imagine running for office when every American has $100 Democracy Dollars to give to their favorite candidate. Just 10,000 supporters could mean $1 million for your campaign. Once elected, you could act primarily in the interest of the people you represent instead of appeasing wealthy donors and corporations. Calling rich people for money is soul-crushing. Wed all be better off if politicians only needed to worry about representing the people that elected them.

It has been used in Seattle to great effect, and we can take their program national to move towards publicly funded elections.

Do you have another explanation? I admit I don't have data to back up the second half of that statement, but like what else could it be? This feels like common sense to me.

Edit: Responding to Chris

"I haven't needed to go to a doctor so my health insurance is great" is what I think causes the reluctance.

Also "I want muh FREEDOMZ to have whatever shitty insurance i won't and I won't have The Government take it from me and give me affordable care dammit."

.

Meanwhile my experience is that wife had a miscarriage in January and being seen by doctors was difficult and time consuming to set up and be approved. Then afterwards the bills charged were mysterious and poorly explained. The process and the red tape made a tragic situation even more difficult.

The doctor himself was fantastic. We're not taking about taking away or access to doctors, just reducing the expensive hoops that have been added to the process.

.

But I'll leave health care alone for now, the debate has moved on.

Spoiler alert: The reason why abolishing private insurance is not popular is because many people are happy with their current insurance plans.

They are happy with the health care they are receiving, sure.

No one is talking about taking the care,
but rather changing how and to who the checks get cut.

.

Alternatively there are people who are lucky enough to have not needed to actually utilize their health insurance in significant ways or to have been denied crucial services.

Lots of countries have good health systems that aren't single payer. In the best case M4A might be a little better, but it's also a hell of a lot riskier and imo that risk is not at all worth it when there are other models that work.

Our current system is not one that I would describe as "working". So what then is so great about adding a shackle to hold onto the current system.
