I didn't want to turn the breaker off, because I am replacing 12 exterior light fixtures and I didn't want to turn off 6-or-so breakers. Anywho, I replaced all 12 of them safely without turning the breaker off (just turning the switch off).

Good to hear it came through safely. I'll keep this in mind if I have to change my own. I'll err on the side of caution though. I don't want to die too fast.

We need to get away from calling it a "scientific fact" and whether or not someone believes it. Evolution is a theory that best describes a recording of observations and is incredibly accurate at predicting what should happen based on the hypotheses derived from the observations.

The reason why you want to make this distinction because you need to be flexible in case things change. For instance, Hamiltonian mechanics is accurate (Force = derivative of momentum with respect to time), but then it falls off when you hit nanoscopic levels. This isn't to say Hamiltonian mechanics isn't correct, but in certain scenarios it doesn't describe the observations of a certain setting so you need to adapt a different theory to explain what's going on.

I kid you not, Chainlink is essentially the internet of the blockchain tech and smart contracts are going to rule the world. This is why I suspect CNN is downplaying and trying to discourage giving Yang the spotlight. He knows that the 4th Industrial Revolution is coming and is trying to raise awareness of it. Most people don't know about smart contracts (even people who have invested in crypto), and most people don't understand DLTs and refuse to give credit where it's due. The bitcoin went from 5 cents to $20K and people still think it's a scam when the price is currently hovering around $10K and this is the best investment ever recorded. This is to show you how early we are in the industry.

Take an hour each day for the week to digest the potential of blockchain tech, or more broadly distributed ledger technology. If you can understand it, if you can envision the world, the wonders and horrors created via smart contracts, you're gonna make it.

Heh, his island is a 5 minute boat ride from my island. I had a chat with my mom who works in the education sector was complaining that the feds raided his island and collected well over $100 million and she ranted about how our school teachers barely have any resources, to the point where they need to dig into their own pockets to chalk or paper or whatnot. So I asked my mom, if you had the chance, would you have brokered a deal to get school funding from this money, and she triumphantly said YES!

But here's the thing that bothered me, this man has created his wealth and power by creating a safe and secure environment where you can bang cute teenaged girls without the fear of repercussion. Do I really want my schools, where the goal is to empower youths to have the knowledge to positively contribute to society to be built upon the blood and tears of female youths, stripped of their power and isolated from society? Even worse, I could be potentially creating a bridge, a window of opportunity for girls at my schools to be taken advantage of to power his wealth and in return power my schools, thereby creating a conflict of interest. Is this okay, to sacrifice these girls, as long as we collectively benefit?

Personally, I use a Macbook, an iPhone, and have Nintendo products, all built out of Foxconn and I know their work conditions. And I only hear that the environments for mining metals for the electronics are also slave like conditions. So I'd be a hypocrite to try to be an agent of justice in this case. If I had the choice, I'd like my lifestyle or wealth powered or supported by people who are happy with their lives, not people who are exploited and abused.

People are quite adaptive. You can generally train someone to be competent in their jobs in 6 months. Of course, more specialized careers will need more years of training. And the need for a paycheque is a good motivator to git gud.

To say someone can't do X job is pretty silly to me. Now whether a person would be motivated to go for a job and commit to it, is slightly different.

The DNC once again is a mess and is deliberately giving candidates unfair disadvantages (like what they're continually doing to Yang). All while there's a dominant and oppressive culture that will ostracize you if you don't conform to their ideals.

Trump is an "enemy" of the culture, so it's not rocket science to see that people are going to use their vote for Trump to once again lash back against culture. Phoenixs performance is one of the most exciting Ive seen in years and I think anyone who can should see it. But if youre thinking about taking your impressionable children to see the film, make sure to have a conversation with them afterwards so that they know the stand-up comedians they see in the movie are not to be admired.
