They have plenty of versions of the Bible where the wording isn't clunky or straight up modernized in some cases.

it's hard to appeal to non-Christians by telling them they are already condemned for not believing. Might as well gloss over the bad parts to get them tithes.

Their perspective is that their job is to convey what they believe is God's word, and that their personal views of it should not apply. I have known pastors who were teary-eyed about the obligations they believed they had to inform people of their eternal damnation. In the case of believers who no longer believed, they referred to it as 'restoration'.

Edit: With that said, in double predestination churches, not believing is viewed as being equivalent to as if one rejected out of their own free agency. The way a reverend has explained it to me is that since he does not know who is saved and God declared the Great Commission, he is obligated to view things this way.
