Also, I haven't really been looking at trend charts for the matches so far, but are trends basically dead after the first hour or so? Seems like the percentages barely move once they've settled after the initial rush.

Pikachu dropped a ton after the first hour yesterday, but trends have been kind of muted for the last few contests in general. Big vote swings feel like a thing of the past outside of rallies.

With how weak trends are, I wonder if any match would have a different result if it lasted only one hour instead of a day.

What could this mean?: That Allen's anti-rally system works, that we can't predict contest changing rallies, and that small dedicated fandoms not in the zeitgeist the way Undertale and LoL were are not to be feared. It was a straightforward match that was very much overhyped. I think the rallies we will see will be smaller ones like the one in this match, and unlikely to change the course of the whole thing. Otherwise Wario looked reasonable and should get to round 3 with no trouble.

I'm not sure we can say much about the anti rally systems yet.
Even with the double votes and the supposed Monika rally, the match ended up at 30k votes.
A random R1 unrallied match in 2015 would have between 35k and 40k.
What I mean is that something like Draven or Undertale would have gotten out of this Wario match easily.

Who do you think would win in a Kuja vs Noctis match ?
Normally Noctis should be stronger as a protagonist but it's recent FF (aka super weak).
On the other hand , Kuja is a villain and only from FF IX

MAX parlay on Zero, Knuckle and Master Hand

If there is even something that ressemble a rally , it should be enough to beat Wario of all things.
From most metrics, the Undertale reddit is smaller than the Doki, so if they really try they should be able to beat Wario.

It came down to this:

- stats said Tidus was only marginally stronger than DK in 2013
- Square lost popularity and Nintendo gained in 2013. nothing happened since then to reverse that trend.
- Switch is extremely popular
- Tidus has always been low on the FF spectrum, and even actively disliked by many, even those who love his game

I don't consider myself an expert, but this is exactly what I predicted. I was genuinely surprised to see the board favored Tidus.

Not sure if I should split the day vote into two parts or not. This is traditionally when the ASV begins, so I guess I'll monitor how things are going.

Yes, but for the sake of the contest you can basically just ignore Japan sales.

I know but even if it doesn't translate into Contest strenght, I was still surprised,. I really expected P5 to have sold far more than DQ worldwide.
