Most people realize it is unrealistic to enjoy life if you spend more than 40-50 hours a week on that stuff regularly with the occasional 60 hour week. There were rumors about these incidents that had been swirling around since it happened. Marc Maron interviewed Louis CK on his podcast like 6 years ago and very explicitly asked about these rumors and Louis denied them. The rumors just weren't mainstream, but had persisted for a very long time. What changed was the #metoo movement and two comedians willing to put their names on this story for the press and then Louie came clean. He wasn't doing any of this to this day. He stopped that sort of behavior well before he got famous. It's such a weird sexual act. It's an undignified form of exhibitionism if that isn't somewhat redundant. Louie has issues with women and has talked about it in interviews extensively. It sounds like this behavior was cathartic in some way for him or perhaps at least a failed attempt at that. Not to defend him too hard, but this issue does have some grey area to it.
